Cacharel Promesse Eau de Toilette
Advantages: It's long lasting and inoffensive
Disadvantages: The price and my bottle was faulty
Cacharel is a French brand which creates perfumes amongst other things. Some of the brands now famous creations include Amor Amor and Anais Anais but this is one of my favourite fragrances produced by the company
Promesse is designed to communicate love and all the emotions that go with it. It is an invigorating yet delicate aroma which is supposed to symbolise a women in love and her commitment, determination and passion. For me, a perfume either smells lovely or not. But hats off to the perfume companies for coming up with these whimsical stories to catch our interest.
This fragrance is very feminine and sweet. I don't think it's one for the feisty, ambitious ladies out there but more for the quiet, girly ones who like all things pink. It is delicate but noticeable and fairly long lasting. I can still smell in on a scarf a few days after I have used it. It's fresh and subtle enough to make it suitable to wear in the day time.
The fragrance has fruity Top Notes of Black Currant, Mandarin and Bergamot and floral Middles Notes of Orchid and Jasmine. The base notes consist of Amber, Sandalwood, Musk and Cedar.
Now I'll be the first to admit that that concoction doesn't sound the nicest. When you read it, it sounds like Cacharel have thrown everything they can think of into the mixture.
But as peculiar as that group sounds, it definitely works. It the kind of perfume that is inoffensive and will get you compliments. The list of base notes sound very heavy but I can't really smell them. It is the sweet fruit that I detect and an almost sugary, syrup aroma.
The fragrance comes in a bottle that is translucent and a gorgeous baby pink colour which is cut to look like a precious stone. The lid is silver and has a lovely pink loop on the top. The fragrance looks both elegant and expensive when on display.
You can buy the fragrance in a range of sizes including 30ml, 50ml and 100ml. Promesse starts at around £15 for the 30ml bottle and then the price steadily increases as the price does. The fragrance is available from most large department stores, perfume shops and it can also be found on many online websites.
I've bought two bottles of this perfume altogether. After receiving a free sample I was immediately hooked and bought my first bottle shortly after. On my second bottle, the spray function was faulty. It didn't come out as a mist. Instead, it was more like being shot at by a water gun with a surprisingly long range! It led to marks on my clothes and made it difficult to use which is why I moved onto another brand. But I'm sure I was just unlucky with that particular bottle.
All in all, this is a deliciously sweet and feminine fragrance that will look classy on display. The fragrance is long lasting and you won't need to apply much to get the desired results. If you like sweet smelling fragrances, then you may like to give this fragrance a go.
