My wife purchased this for me on the last valentines. We set ourselves a limit since we think its abit of a waste of time and money...but for some reason still follow the trend. Limit was £20 and your see that generally most places including ebay, amazon etc will sell this for that amount. Now, its very rare that companies sell off perfume at cheap prices unless your a celeb. So to find Calvin Klein want to sell this to you for £20 arouses suspicion.
A very bog standard looking bottle. Its frosted in appearance with a cheap metal looking cap on the top. Take it off and its a bog standard spray. Nothing special but then CK has not been known for different looking bottles have they?
With top notes of birch leaf, grapefruit, Juniper and Eucalyptus. Middle notes of Rosemary, Cypress and Fir Balsam and finally base notes of Sandalwood and Oakmoss.
The scent I find is not that masculine and is quite fresh. Its not sweet either and you can certainly smell the grapefruit and eucalyptus.
Whilst its abit feminine and you expect it to last long, its actually not that great. First hour its with you but come the 4th its almost gone. It really does not last that long.
Overall, whilst its not repulsive, it very much is something that I can see has not sold that well. I can see why it appealed to my wife (the feminine smell). It started production in 1993 and over time, times have changed and this fragrance is not quite something you would smell on a man.
Its sat in one of my draws that comes out every so often to please my wife.
I'm not a great one for fancy aftershaves and smelly's, and in the past have tended to rely on my significant other to buy me various things (which, between you and me, are more about how she would like me to smell than how I would like to smell!). However, like most men I know, we all need a 'special occasion' aftershave, cologne, or eau de toilette.
While out shopping last Xmas, my wife was browsing the women's perfume counter, so I wandered off to the men's and, conscious of looking shifty, started trying the sample scented cards on the shelves. This one, Calvin Klein Escape, jumped straight out at me. I loved the smell/scent instantly, not too sickly and cloying and just really pleasant. I consulted with the the resident expert (my wife, not the shop staff) and decided to treat myself. Luckily it was on offer at the time, so I got it for around the £20 mark, though it normally retails for several pounds more. That is for the 100 ml size by the way, you can purchase smaller.
As you would expect, being Calvin Klein, it comes in a plain, but stylish box with 'Escape For Men' and Calvin Klein prominently displayed, so you can leave it out on the shelf to show off. The bottle itself has the same, with a large metallic cap on top. Very nice. Looking up its background, it was apparently created in 1993, so quite old now, but the fact it is still being sold probably tells you what great quality it is, considering how many others come and go. The scent itself is hard to initially describe, but the best I can do is to describe it as fresh, with a hint of spicyness, and slightly fruity/ zesty. The official blurb is alittle more descriptive:-
Escape is a refreshing, spicy, lavender, amber fragrance. This masculine scent contains a blend of apple, plum, peach, bergamot, juniper, rosemary and is accented with sage, mandarin and sandalwood..'
Can't say I detect all those scents, but I guess the blend they all create is the nice 'fresh' smell I like.
As I said earlier, although sweet, the scent itself is not overpowering and does not need a large application either. Small doses are all that are required, so the 100 ml bottle can go a long way even with everyday use. The scent is long lasting as well, has happily seen me through entire days, and has been commented on positively by others as much earlier in the day as later. In fact, I've had more compliments with this scent than any other I have ever worn, and the ladies especially love it!; so much so, my wife makes sure I ration it wisely...just to make it last, you understand.
Any negatives? not really. It is not the cheapest product out there, but good quality eau de toilette's are not that cheap anyway. The only negative I have seen mentioned is that it can stain white items of clothing, like shirts, but I can honestly say that I have worn it with white t-shirts and not had a problem. Maybe it depends how much you apply, and where.
Very happy I bought this, and plan on buying it for the foreseeable future. Highly recommend.
Calvin Klein - Escape
I love to buy myself an fragrance since it's nice to smell good and to make an good impression on people. You don't want to come across that you smell bad and yes I'm one of those person who need a fragrance to just smell good. It always gives me more confident when I know I have a fragrance on especially when you go out and people come near me talking to me.
Almost every celebrity or brand has his or her own fragrance. While with some of them I would never be seen wearing them, other I'm quite interested in. Like Calvin Klein. Calvin Klein was founded in 1968 by Calvin Klein himself and is located at New York. The Calvin Klein Escape is just one of the many fragrances they have now.
When you look at the bottle it doesn't really do anything special for me and it actually looks more feminine. The only reason I went for this bottle is that I know it's from Calvin Klein and I like many of his fragrances. The bottle is round and long with a silver cap on the top. It's see trough which is always handy so you know when you are going to run out. The bottle itself is easy to use and the spray works fine. No problems there.
I experience the smell of Escape as as a warm, gentle ocean scent. Immediately after the first spray I can smell an odor of alcohol, which change into a nice full rich floral scent (not so sweet). Even though this scent not too sweet in my opinion it's still quite heavy so I would not recommend it if you don't like heavy smells. This scent contains: chamomile, apple, ylang-ylang, marigold, coriander, hyacinth, black currant, mandarin, jasmine, rose, olive flower, peach, musk and sandalwood.
The Escape is another nice sweet smell of CK. Calvin Klein has of course often fragrances that smell sweeter but still are different compared to each other. This is also an original nice floral scent and is a bit sweeter. I believe the fragrance last for a long time during the day and you don't need much. It's quite a strong smell already so you don't want it to become to overwhelming. You can get the 100ml for 25 pounds which is a good price.
