My final EDT review this week is for Calvin Klein Eternity for Men. This is one of the more expensive fragrances that I bought a couple of years ago and I can remember buying it simply because it was a well-known designer brand (and the fact that I buy their underwear). It's a fragrance that I had considered for some time - I'd smelled it at store perfume counters, and had ummed and aahhed about it for ages because I wasn't sure if I liked the scent. Anyway, I took the plunge and bought a 50ml bottle.
Calvin Klein is, of course, a designer brand which is famous for its underwear and advertising. I'm sure many ladies will not forget the recent adverts with David Beckham and the slight controversy over 'is it padding or isn't it?' (I won't go into any further details, but I'm sure most know what I mean) - I'll leave the merits of the underwear for a future review.
PACKAGING AND DESIGN:-
Eternity for Men comes in what I would call a 'designer bottle' in that it's quite plain but has a shaped interior (wider at the top and bottom and pinched in at the middle - think of a human body's chest, waist and thighs). It has a simple silver-coloured atomizer which is protected by a silver plastic cover which is round at the bottom with a cube top. It has 'Eternity for Men eau de toilette spray/vaporisateur Calvin Klein on the front, but apart from that is quite plain. The actual perfume is slightly green in colour.
The notes are quite extensive:-
Top Notes: Lavender, Mandarin Orange, Bergamot, Lemon
Middle Notes: Coriander, Lily, Orange Blossom, Juniper Berries, Basil, Jasmine, Sage, Lily-of-the-Valley, Geranium
Base Notes: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Amber, Musk, Brazilian Rosewood
MY EXPERIENCE OF THIS FRAGRANCE:-
I find this EDT to be very strong indeed. When you first spray, it's very flowery but with a slight sharpness to it - almost, but not quite peppery. I wouldn't say that any of the top notes stand out above any of the others, it's just a rich, sweet aroma. It does settle down quite quickly but still retains the flowery fragrance but with a slight musky aroma creeping in. After a while it loses a little of the flowery smell, but on the whole it still stays quite sweet. It is very powerful, though, and I find that it literally lasts all day - I can spray it in the morning and can still smell it at bedtime. In fact I find that sometimes the powerful aroma can give me a headache and it can become a bit sickly. This is not a fragrance that I would call 'understated'. Because of this I only wear it occasionally.
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY:-
This EDT can be bought in many high street department stores, pharmacies and online. It comes in a range of sizes from 30ml to 100ml. Expect to pay around £18 for the 30ml size up to £50 for the 100ml bottle depending on where you buy it and if it is discounted. As an indication of price, you can currently buy the 100ml size at Amazon for £30.
Would I buy this again? Maybe. I do like an EDT to have longevity and to have a strong aroma, but I couldn't wear this every day - it's a bit too powerful for me. However, I do use it occasionally for a change. I'm not going to give it a low rating just because of its strength - it's a quality product that a lot of men may like, although the sweet aroma may not be to everyone's taste. If you've not tried it, I would advise buying the smaller 30ml size to see if it suits you.
Thank you for reading my review - I hope you found it useful
Now no son likes to hear a bad word about the woman who delivered him into this world but if it is me uttering those words then it is ok and it has to be said that my mother past history of buying me aftershave has not been a great record and she has bought me a couple of real stinkers (literally) however with Calvin Klein Eternity for Men she has earned some sort of redemption for past transgressions. It is not total absolution as I'm not totally sold on this particular fragrance but it is a perfectly acceptable rather manly fragrance that I tend to wear for work.
The spray version comes in a pretty plain and boring solid square bottle with a simple silver spray top to it; it has a pale green tint to the contents and simple lettering across the front. It is functional rather than attractive in my opinion. It delivers a short precise amount of spray which means you will not find yourself dousing yourself too much with what is a fairly strong smelling scent.
It is certainly a very masculine smell; it has a light slightly sweet smell to it however after a while this settles down into a much more woody aroma but at the same time a certain lightness that is hard to define. There is an underlying fruity smell to this which is rather citrus in smell and apparently there is some lavender in the fragrance as well alongside some of the citrus fruits. There is also meant to be basil and sage but I could not really detect either of these in it. Like many fragrances for men there is the staple sandalwood that gives it the woody base notes alongside rosewood as well.
It is quite a nice smell that settles down from its initial strength to provide a rather warm and manly aroma and one that I see more as a day scent rather than something I would wear to go out in. For me it works well as something I can wear to work. It also is long lasting so it is ideal to wear for work as it will last a full day without any significant loss of scent.
This was given to me as a present last Xmas in the 50ml bottle which on Amazon is currently retailing at £25.95 so it would make a nice stocking filler for the man in your lives ladies and any same sex couples out there.
Thanks for reading and rating my review.
I think the calvin klein mens fragrances are a mixed bag and some are better than others. The eternity for men fragrance is one that I think is more masculine than the unisex aromas that the brand produce. I think it works better than some of the others and is easy to wear.
The bottle the eternity for men comes in is good. I think it has enough weight to keep it standing tall and not get knocked about. I like the look of it because it has a modern design that suits the fragrance you get in the bottle. The clear glass lets you see how much is left to use up and I think that is a help.
The top of the bottle has a silver trim and the spraying on bit is easy to use when you get the hang of it. I think its easy to use and it gives the right amount of fragrance for each side of my neck when I wear this. No waste or over spray at all.
The colour of the fragrance is a light golden one and I think it looks good in the clear bottle. I think the fragrance will be a good present because it looks good and smells good when you wear it. It has a fresh woody masculine aroma that has a lot going on but it works well when its on me.
When I first use the eternity fragrance I think it has a cool edge that is full of citrus and lavender. The citrus I get is either orange or maybe mandarin and it works with the lavender to make the first feeling I get very fresh. When the aroma dries a bit the fragrance gets deeper and I can smell the change it makes and the citrus goes away a bit.
There are herbs in the fragrance and the basil and sage in eternity are very green. I think they balance out the citrus and lavender well. The more the fragrance is on the more you get a warmer smelling amber and woody smell and I like the depth I get over a couple of hours when the fragrance changes.
I don't think the fragrance will be one that you will find hard to wear. I have had no problems with headaches and stuff when I have had this on for a more than a few hours. I think the aroma the fragrance has is easy for lots of people to wear and many people will like the fragrance.
The price is mid range and a 100ml bottle can be £36 to £44 to buy. I don't think its cheap but prices for this are varied and I think you can pick it up cheaper with a bit of shopping about for it. I would recommend the fragrance because it has an easy to like aroma that lasts well.
One of my very first fragrances was a Calvin Klein one, so I have a special place for them in my heart...or rather in my bathroom cupboard! The Eternity fragrance can be bought for men or women and offers a smell for the sophisticated and discerning buyer. Prices vary dramatically, but a ballpark figure for 50ml is usually around twenty pounds.
Well presented in a chic looking bottle. I like the curvy glass bottle and you can easily see the lime green fragrance sitting inside, which is handy for measuring out doses and keeping an eye on when it is about to run out. Neatly finished off with a silver spout, it fits well into any bathroom with a simple and refined look.
The smell of this fragrance is a fresh and enticing one. I found it had many depths to it which gradually unfold as the day unfolds. While on the surface it unleashes some masculine woody tones, as it settles, you will start to detect more complex aromas pushing through. One of the big draws of this was the sage element for me, one of my favourite spices. It offers a lovely deep aromatic tone to the scent and helps the fragrance to sink into the skin and envelope your senses.
The sweeter smells of Mandarin and pineapple are tucked in there for that much needed fruity spark and this arrives once the smell has had a chance to settle. Subtle enough to be recognised, they sit well in the mix. At the very bottom of the scent pile, more woody tones waft along, teak wood is buried in there somewhere and though I am not familiar with the smell of teak, the woody smells help keep the fragrance firmly locked in the manly area without making it too feminine, which indeed it could with all the fruity tones in there too.
I find this smell spirited and lively enough for work and pleasure and it would work for the gent who is confident in their approach and for the man who oozes charisma and understated sex appeal. Me to a tee then!
Smell fresh, until eternity: by Calvin Klein Eternity For Men
Calvin Klein Eternity For Men is one of the more stronger fragrances of Calvin Klein and isn't your typical manly scent.
Since every well respected designer has his own fragrance. Calvin Klein certainly couldn't stay behind and has introduced quiet a lot of fragrances for his and hers. Calvin Klein was founded in 1968 by Calvin Klein himself and is located at New York.
The bottle of Calvin Klein Eternity For Men looks really ok, but it's not my favourite bottle out there. It's looks a little bit like a woman's fragrances with its oval shape and I don't think the colour is that nice either. But suppose it's just a bottle that does it job.
I have to say I'm not quiet sure if I like the smell of the fragrance and it's only because I received this fragrance as a gift, that I would use it. It's a very summery scent and not so much a fresh one, but more sweet flower one. The fragrance smell a lot after lavender and jasmine. When you spray it on you are overwhelmed by the scent, which luckily get less really quick and it settles down. You can still smell the fresh lavender smell after a few hours, which is good.
Calvin Klein Eternity For Men could be perfect for you if you are looking for more a fresh flower scent with Lavender and Jasmine, but it's not really one for me. I prefer the more fresh musky ones and think this one is a little to woman for me. The smell is still noticeable after a few hours which is good and you don't really need a lot during the day.
Since 1989 Eternity for Men has offered a wonderful fragrance, a mixture of natural ingredients that ends up offering a very mascauline smell. The price tags reflects the use of quite a few quality spices and herbs. A 50ml bottle can cost up to £25 at some stores, saying that it is a very recognisable smell and has longevity so it is worthy of these prices.
I find the aftershave slightly too over powering, whereas the Eau de Toilette has the same manly smell yet the potency is about right as not to burn your friends nostrils out. After the first spray the Eau de Toilette works with your body chemistry and the spray bottle makes it easy to deliver the spray wherever required.
Eternity for men is like Marmite, you either love it or hate it. I advise that if you are thinking about buying this go and either find somewhere that offers a sample or some places actually sell the ex display spray sample bottles. One note of caution, it can be very easy for you to over spray this as you get acclimatised to the smell and do not realise how much you reak. If you like the Eau de Toilette there is also Deorderant stick, shower gel, lotion and even a very limited Talcum Powder.
The CK Eternity EDT was introduced last year for the summer, but is still a popular fragrance to buy in store due to its delightful smell. CK is well known for their perfums, and they have been making them for a while now.
This new perfum has a lovely summer scent, one that many people will enjoy, it has the smell of lavender, which is delightful and gives a man a very fresh sort of smell. It gives a clean and summer feel. Very nice from Calvin Klein.
In terms of pricing compared to opposing products, this particular CK perfume is priced at a mid range value. The prices are £20 for 30ml, £30 for 50ml, and £40 for 100ml respectively. Considering how nice Eternity actually smells, I would have to say that this particular perfume would definately be worth it.
As an Eau de Toillette, you can expect the smell of the perfume to last around a good 4-6 hours, which is typical of this perfume type. You should still be able to smell the scent later on in the day, but it will be no where else as strong. Eternity is also available as an Eau de Parfum, which costs more, but will last throughout the whole day.
Other than, the packaging is plain and yet stylish. The symplistic bottle is quite average, but for some reason seems stylish, possible just because it is Calvin Klein, I am not quite sure.
To sum up, I would recommend the Calvin Klein EDT range, as it is nice and reasonably priced, but for me it did not dazzle in any way, it just did what it was supposed to do, which is why I am giving it a fairly solid 4 star rating.
Eternity for men was the first fragrance I ever bought, back when I was a young lad and although I was enjoyed it at first, after shopping around a little I decided it wasnt actually much cop.
The smell seems nice at first, but seems to leave a bitter after smell and whilst I hate to write this in a review, it did seem to ping a bit of a faint urine type smell. This may just be who thinks so, but I couldn't get over this and have not used it since. Its not the initial smell but rather when its been sprayed or rubbed against your clothes for a while.
Calvin Klein do some excellent products, Be is an old favourite and they are always coming out with new lines. If you want some Calvin Klein i'd consider using one of their alternative products.
On the upside, I imagine its not too badly priced these days, so feel free to give it a go!
Calvin Klein Eternity is a great fragnance. It comes in many different sizes and comes for both men and women. The mens one is great in my opinion as its a very fresh fragnance that smells slightly of mid summer but it has a masculine muskiness smell to it that clearly defines it as being the mens edition of the fragnance and not the females.
Its prices range from £23.00 - £53.00 depending on the volume of the bottle. For a 100ml bottle it is roughly around £23.00 from most retailers that i have seen it in. Its cheapest bought off internet I find (as is the case with most things) however i have seen it for sale very cheaply once at Asda at a price of £14.00 for a 100ml bottle which in my opinion is very cheap.
The bottle is very attractive and comes in a dark grey box which is a nice colour. The bottle is well designed and has "Calvin Klein Eternity" printed along the front of the bottle so it is clearly defined.
Overall a great fragnance that can be bought cheap depending where you go.
A nice fragrance in my opinion. On Ferry crossing back to England i quickly checked out the aftershave section of a small store and quickly found 'Calvin Klein Eternity: Summer' to be the best on offer. When I asked others I was with, they agreed. And as some were girls I think that they are probably the best judges. So my opinion stands. Looking at the appearance ofthe container I ask myself does it really matter what it looks like?
Eternity for Men has top notes of mandarin, lavender and green botanics; middle notes of jasmine, basil, geranium and sage and base notes of sandalwood, vetiver, rosewood and amber /
