If there is one issue I can't stand when I rush in the mornings, then it's the absence of some kind of aftershave I add in my bag to refresh me during the day. I've been so organised to pack everything else that I tend to forget the personal products that I require dependent on the season. If its cold winter, then I usually have some dry skin cream and some lip salve, which is crucial if you have ever worked in an office with full power air conditioners that tend to dry out the throat or the skin in tandem. Fragrance such as aftershave, aftershave balm or even a small bottle of EDT can also be found in my bag at many times and in the summer months where the air is warmer, I like fresh aftershave that stays with me.
One particular week I was reminded of one of my closest colleague's birthday and had duly bought "Euphoria," by Calvin Klein as he is a fan of Klein, as opposed to my more exotic and often expensive choices from Chanel, Dior, Bulgari and Davidorff. However, when he spied the box after disregarding the wrapper, he kindly took me to one side and admitted that out of all the fragrances that he loves from CK, "Euphoria," seemed to make him sneeze! Thus, the gift I bought for him was duly returned and left in my room for a couple of months before I attempted to try it myself - and it has since become my emergency aftershave that is left in my work bag permanently so that I'm never out of fragrance when I'm out and about - because there are times and places when a man "needs to go" where aftershave is far more welcomed than putting up with the bad odour that exists...
As an American fashion company established in 1968, Calvin Klein first dabbled in clothing before launching fragrances and probably the product "CK1," is as famous as "Kouros," for men by Yves-Saint Laurent. Whilst everyone fell for the charms of CK1, I fell for the charms of Calvin Klein jeans when I was a older teenager and still today much prefer their jeans above a lot of other brands, though they can be really hard to find due to their pricing!
"Euphoria," was launched as a man's aftershave and Eau de Toilette (EDT) fragrance in 2006 a year after the "commercial cooker hood" shaped bottle for women had been released before a new version called "Euphoria Forbidden" for women was released in 2011. Evidently the popularity of the first two for both men and women has sparked Calvin Klein to continually experiment with the basic formula, adding more tones to appeal to a wider market and in time a man's "Intenso" version was also added to the Euphoria brand name. At cost, this product isn't very cheap unless you really go to town on private seller companies like Amazon UK and even though some smaller business seem to be able to offer this aftershave EDT at a further lower cost. My bottle purchased in 2012 cost me £18 purchased at the Duty Free shop in Glasgow, when I was visiting friends in London, and as such it was far cheaper at the time than the current costs (see "Other Sorts" at the bottom of this review for different sizes and prices.)
The promise that Calvin Klein make of "Euphoria," is rather elaborate. They promise that this aftershave is "an addictive and modern sensuality," with further tones in the top level containing "ginger, pepper cocktail, raindrop accord and chilled sudachi." Further claimed tones include "black basil, cedar leaf, hydroponic sage., creamy suede, addictive patchouli, Brazilian redwood and solid amber..."
Sounds like rather a lot doesn't it? Rest assured when I saw the bottle sitting in the fragrance shop at the airport, I didn't even look at the claims from Calvin Klein as the brown square box that this aftershave product comes in has the tinniest of writing. The bottle however is a bit of a design classic - solid, macho no nonsense block square is the order of the day with a light brown tint to the glass as standard and a safe protective "C" shape of metal that adorns the entire top of the bottle and either sides. The brand writing is just as understated but bold. When I paid for my product, the sales lady admitted that quite a few of the sales girls adores this fragrance - so it at least appeals to the opposite sex in quite a major way.
To my nose, CK "Euphoria" isn't very unique and that's a bit of a disappointment from the off. It has shades of CK1 as well as Hugo Boss "Boss" (the silver bottle canister launched in the late 1990's and has since disappeared off the shelves) and for that reason alone, although there are quite a lot of tones that Calvin Klein claim, my nose picks up on very different scents that aren't as elaborate.
The first tone that is very apparent with this aftershave is that of leather, suede and vanilla acting as the second tone. Were it not for the vanilla additive, I'd probably enjoy it more. When wearing I find it is quite acidic and full of alcohol that makes up the third tones, harder to pick out anything other than a lot of flowers and just a hint of the claimed black pepper. The spice gives it a good edge and similarity to the uber strong "Fahrenheit," almost quite similar from the backdrop once the fragrance has been applied to skin.
It isn't until I smell my skin closely that I can begin to detect oriental tones, almost with an lemony, citrus kind of a way. It isn't apparent unless I spray the back of your hands to get the depth that the aftershave offers and only seems to become more apparent the more you apply the product on! At times the lemony citrus changes to warming Neroli, but this is more apparent in colder temperatures than warm.
Despite it popularlty I feel that "Euphoria" lacks any great strength longevity quality. Once I spray it on my skin, I can smell it for a couple of minutes before the scent dies down into a very understated oriental, citrus smell. It is nevertheless quite pleasing but the claimed content from Klein doesn't hang around despite the rather promising long list and though it is fresh, fragrant and spicy due to its peppery nodes, it isn't as exciting or as appealing as other fragrances I own. Certainly over the far cheaper at cost price Body Shop White Musk Sport Edition, the Body Shop's fragrance here is lighter but has far longer staying power that appeals to the opposite sex in a far greater way.
Thus, this isn't the fragrance of choice I would wear on a night out unless I was to physically take the bottle with me to constantly apply the spray liquid. It isn't suitable for clubbing either since the smell just dies away - but as an emergency skin refresher, it does that job rather well - it's just a pity that it doesn't hold the promise of "a little goes a long way," but rather the opposite "a lot has to go a long way," to get the best out of the fragrance's strength.
It is also fairly easy to damage the beautiful macho sides of metal that adorn this bottle. Half way through ownership, one of my folders got stuck on one of the streamlined metal sides that this bottle has and has unfortunately as a result pulled half of the metal out of the side of the bottle affecting the appearance. It is a minor downside to the overall look of the bottle though and doesn't affect usage.
Other Sorts & Final Thoughts

* 50ml EDT spray £24-40 (www.amazon.co.uk)
* 100ml EDT spray £29-99 (www.chemistdirect.co.uk)
* 100ml Aftershave splash £32-30 (www.amazon.co.uk)

Although bought as a gift and knocked back initially, I can't agree with my closest colleague that the spray can induce sneezing here as I find that the fragrance is quite airy and bounces along quite happily without ever being too heavy. For the fact that I have never been induced to sneeze or cough by this product since purchased a year ago, it is easy to fall for CK's charms but then be disappointed by the lack of all the claimed content. Certainly if I was to buy this product again, I'd stretch my wallet further by considering the 200ml body wash compared to the 100ml EDT as this is the largest size they currently sell in the EDT spray range.
Certainly I love the fragrance that CK have dreamt up here but it could be a bit longer lasting rather than having to continually apply for longer lasting freshness and appeal during the day. Whilst the fragrance doesn't make me sneeze or cough, the lack of strength and longevity is more unexpected from a brand who are still relatively young on the market and hence keep sticking to old routines of producing fragrances for younger ages that have a longer lasting delivery and strength factor. Thus, you may fall in love with the scent, but you won't be quite euphoric on its short scent value once applied or by 2013's current prices, the relative expense for such a short-scented product. Purchased with Dooyoo Points on Amazon, I got 100ml for £23.05 which seems to be a great deal looking at some of the prices mentioned for this product.
I bought it because I have always had really good experiences with Calvin Klein after shaves, I find them efficient, good value and generally smell good without being overpowering or making the hairs on your chest grow by 5 inches at a time.
I really like the Calvin Klein Euphoria bottle, it is square with a thick glass surrounding the fragrance which really makes it stand out, the name Calvin Klein and Euphoria are on the bottle but not the detriment of the bottle styling, think understated and classy much like the product itself.
I can´t get my head round this talk of a bouquet of Patchloui with elements of Cinnamon, but I can confirm that I can notice the pomegranate in this smell, I also like the really floral smell coming from the scent, apparently it is Persimmon with black violets and lotus blossom, which sound absolutely awesome and smell, sweet, citrussy and unobtrusive.
You won´t come out this scent stinking a room out, you will leave a lasting smell which is understated, classy and really nice.
I don´t have too much of this left as I use it on special occasions and really like to spray it all over, but I will be buying more as I really like everything about it, the brand is simple and stylish, the bottle is effective and looks good whilst the scent is really cool and classy and I think it suits a man in a suit and tie or a really nice blazer, jeans combo perfectly.
If this scent were a bloke it would be somebody like Olivier Martinez, cool. good looking, stylish and probably fragrant.
Well worth checking out, if only to say when asked that you smell of Black Violets!!!
This is another of Calvin Klein's classic, timeless fragrances for men.
30ml = £28.00
100ml =£46.00 (very reasonable!)
This is an addictive and oriental fragrance, it is packed with so many complementing ingredients. It has an earthy scent from the pepper and rainforest accord. It also has a fresh note from the basil and sage. It is a very long lasting eau de toilette due to the vast number of ingredients within it.
It comes in a very striking bottle and has a complementary female fragrance so there is Euphoria for women too.
It seems to be the edition to Calvin Klein that has taken over the rest, Eternity seems to be slightly outdated and some of the new Calvin Kleins are too ambitious with the ingredients.
***What else is in the Euphoria for men's range?***
There is also a roll on deodorant, a limited edition intense version, aftershave and a body wash.
***Would I recommend it?***
I would definitely recommend trying this fragrance in one of its many stockists: Boots, House of Fraser, Debenhams, The Perfume Shop and many more.
Building on the success of the popular fashion label Calvin Klein are a number of fragences from one of the worlds best known fashion brands. Before buying this frangrence I usually bought the Hugo Boss ball spray and fancied a change to the usual. I got this soon after buying some clothes by Calvin Klein, and thought that the spray would be a great addition to complement the clothes.
Although the design of the bottle is not up to the usual standard among other brands, its the smell that counts, and to me Euphoria for men has a really powerful, masculine smell. The design of the bottle could be improved to be abit more fashionable for the fashion concious, but unless you are planning to show everyone which fragrence you use it should not really matter. A mixture of ginger pepper cocktail, raindrop accord and chilled sudachi are used to create this fresh scent. The smell is not too strong, but still gives that fresh scent and will leave you feeling just like the smell of the fragrence, fresh and ready to take on the day.
It retails at £36.00 in Boots stores.

Calvin Klein Euphoria Man
Calvin Klein Euphoria for women perfume is one of my favourite fragrances and so I decided to buy the mens version for my husband for his birthday. Calvin Klein call this a very addictive and unique signature with a fresh oriental fragrance.
Calvin Klein the designer first came into the forefront of perfume when he released CK one, the fragrance for both men and women. I used this fragrance off and on and found it to have quite strong, masculine smell. Euphoria for Men was released in 2006.
Like most mens fragrances this has quite a musky smell to it but is also quite spicy and strong. It is said to have top notes soaked with crisp and spicy accents, with Ginger Pepper cocktail, raindrop accord and chilled Sudachi. I love reading about this ingredients because they really do not make much sense to me, I have no idea what most of these thing are, I just know that I like the fragrance. Once my husband has put it on and has worn it for a while you get a lovely after smell when he walks by and I do think that the fragrance lasts for quite a long while during the day. The middle notes in this fragrance feature a blend of black basil, cedar leaf and hydroponic sage and it is finished off with base notes of masculine creamy Suede, addictive Patchouli, Brazilian Redwood and sold Amber.
What I love about the bottle it comes in is that it's very Calvin Klein, clean, with very simple fresh lines but very effective. It is basically a rectangle shaped bottle with clear glass so you can see through the bottle. It simply has Euphoria and Calvin Klein written on it, very sophisticated and looks good on the bedroom shelf.
As it has been around for a while now this fragrance is not too expensive in my opinion. A 50ml Mens Eau de Toilette costs £36 in Boots and a 100ml bottle costs £46.

Euphoria, By Calvin Klein was really my first real cologne, as far as like my personal scent was concerned at least, I used it pretty much every day and I loved it, Many girls I know also like it a lot so the name, might be fitting. It does have a very perfume-y smell to it, but it's not overwhelming when used in moderation, as every cologne should be, you never want to smell like you bathe in it because that's what people will tend to think. Cologne is something that shouldn't linger any longer than the man wearing it. I don't really know what else to say other than you should try it for yourself, I think in most cases you'll find yourself satasfied with this product, that being said, As I say whenever I review cologne, never buy it without having smelt it first, Smell is something based on opinion's of individuals, what I think smells good, you may believe to smell horrible.
The addictive, fresh oriental fragrance of euphoria men blends crisp, modern freshness with a sexy, rich signature. An amazing smelling product from a massive range of calvin klein fragrances. Ginger pepper cocktail, addictive patchouli, and a sensuous creamy suede accord create a distinctive signature for this exciting, tempting, and masculine fragrance. Its unique fragrance gives out a masculine but nice smelling aroma, lasting for the whole night out. Wherever you are it doesn't matter, this aftershave will be suitable for all occasions ; including meals out with the wife, a night out, out on a date or even in the workplace. This aftershave is available from shops such as boots, debenhams and obviously perfume / aftershave stores. It comes in a range of bottle sizes including 100ml and 50ml. It also comes in gift packs which comes with the aftershave and euphoria bodywash. Overall for the price of this aftershave it is a good buy for any guy wishing to smell nice for the ladies.
