      Very good

Calvin Klein: Man is a pleasant fragrance that isn't too overpowering or potent. You can get a 100 ml bottle of this for around £20 and it contains notes of rosemary, mandarin, bay, nutmeg, incense, cypress wood and spearmint. This is a woody and fresh fragrance where no one thing seems to dominate the notes that come off of it. Although it says it contains spearmint I didn't notice this too much apart from a vague hint of it. This is a very masculine fragrance and lasts a long time when you use it so it should turn out to be very good value.

Like most fragrances, you don't need very much at all to smell the effect and because it is quite potent you should be very careful not to put too much on. I don't like getting a giant blast of fragrance from people in the street and prefer to be more frugal so you can't be whiffed a mile off. I found the fragrance to be sensitive on the skin too and it does make you smell very clean and nice. I have used fragrances in the past that smell to sweet or are too powerful but I found the balance here seemed like it was just about right.

I find a dab of this in the morning lasts most of the day and no one has complained about the whiff so it seems to be quite an acceptable fragrance to go about your business with. I think it was launched in 2007 so it is still relatively new and some people might find an extra attraction in having something with the Calvin Klein name on it. The packaging and bottle is of a simple design which personally I prefer to more fancy fragrance boxes and bottles.

I think this is a good fragrance for men and would buy it again if I felt the need to add some things to the bathroom.

A great aftershave for young and old!

As I'm getting older, it is always more difficult for family and friends to decide what to buy for my Birthday and Fathers Day. For this reason, over the past few years I have been receiving more and more smelly stuff and aftershave. I was therefore not surprised to receive aftershave again, from my children for Fathers Day, but at the same time delighted. I do use aftershave a lot, and at least it wasn't something that would be hid away in a cupboard and never used.

Man (seems rather an odd name for aftershave) has ben around since 2007, and has been a big success for the manufacturers Calvin Klein. I must admit to not being a person who buys products because of their 'name'.

I would much rather buy something with no 'name' which smelt good, rather than the other way around. However the fact that the aftershave was made by Calvin Klein,in this instance, it did give me a more masculine feel of a modern man. I'm not sure why.

I have never done a review on aftershave before so please bear with me, whilst I try and describe my experience. Upon spraying this aftershave I was immediately taken back by how delicate it appeared on my skin. I know this may sound strange to come from a man, but far too many aftershaves feel as if you are pouring vinegar on open wounds, when you have a shave. This did not feel like this at all. My skin can be sensitive after a shave, and Man, did not cause me to wince, like other fragrances do.

Calvin Klein 'Man' contains rosemary, mandarin, bay, nutmeg, incense, cypress wood and spearmint, amongst other ingredients. It was the distinctive woody tone to the fragrance, that came out most. To be honest I couldn't smell the spearmint, and wouldn't particularly want to on aftershave. I didn't need a lot in order for the smell to become apparent either, and it really did make me feel clean and fresh - many aftershaves do have a smell, but lack the freshness that this fragrance gives.

This aftershave isn't cheap. The recommended retail price is £47 for 100 ml but my wife says she paid just over half of that, so I think you may need to shop around.

I would recommend this fragrance. It is sensitive to skin (well to mine anyway) and smells delicious as well as making me feel fresh. It wasn't too sweet either, and the smell lasted quite some time. Even after applying the fragrance in the morning, my wife could still smell it later that day.

      Highly Recommended.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Pretty good

Calvin Klein: Man is a fragrance that has been around for a couple of years now and although not terribly original or new it is a very fresh, clean smelling scent and seems to have been fairly popular since it was created. It makes its presence known but this is a little more minimalist than some other smelly stuff you might have lurking in your bathroom next to the scuba diving equipment and has a pleasant and subdued aroma that lasts a long time. The minimalist elements extend to the design which is simple but quite striking, the box it comes in looking like a Spinal Tap cover album that has the group attempting to go back to basics with a lot of black. The main components of Calvin Klein: Man are rosemary, mandarin, bay, nutmeg, incense, spearmint and cypress wood. The fragrance notes beyond these respective wafts are bergamot, violet leaf, guaiac wood, sandalwood, amberwood and musk. The usual suspects really with one or two surprises to pique the interest of us fragrance scholars.

The first thing you pick up from this fragrance is bergamot and a vague rush of mandarin citrus. It feels like many scents you've owned before and much of a muchness but then there are some very pleasant notes of rosemary and spearmint as the fragrance freshens and changes, moving into the mid-section. The mentholated spearmint in the fragrance gives it a no-nonsense chilly, clean and crisp quality which I quite liked. It's like being caught in a light shower of mixed fruit juice and then being gently mugged by a packet of polo mints and having your hair ruffled by tic tacs before it all eventually coalesces in a woody, fresh whole and even reveals a discernible tinge of nutmeg as if the nutmeg had unexpectedly arrived late to a small private function and stuck its head around the door bearing a small gift. The gift is not expensive but it's the thought that counts. When the nutmeg makes his excuses and leaves the fragrance settles down with a finish of sandalwood, amberwood, guaiac wood, their backs watched all the time by our old friend musk.

These last notes also contain a nice hint of roses, doubtless from the guaiac wood. Any guaiac wood buffs out there would back me up on this one. One of the good things about this mint themed perfumery product is that it isn't too sickly sweet and retains an earthy and fresh quality. It is quite potent if applied in haphazard fashion but not unbearably so and once the fragrance settles down it retains a clean and pleasant aura even with a sensibly minimal application. I think this is probably more of an autumn/winter fragrance than a summer one and its minty heart of middle notes gives it a slightly frosted feel of nights drawing in, buttered crumpets and hot chocolate and cold cloudless days with people wearing mittens and scraping ice off their Moped in the morning. This is apparently the top fragrance of choice for most Eskimos and many an igloo is said to have a bottle of this in their bathroom cabinet.

I think one of the strengths of this offering from the Calvster is that although millions of people have probably used this it doesn't have a powerful and overwhelmingly distinctive aura so you won't feel like you smell like everyone else in the world. It has a relatively smooth and minimalist quality/scent, a slightly more neutral air that I preferred slightly to some of the sweeter fragrances available. Whereas some fragrances announce themselves with a megaphone and maintain a high pitch this is more subdued and the initial brashness soon dissipates into polite chatter and the occasional clinking of glasses somewhere in the background as cheese based nibbles await at a nearby table. Calvin Klein: Man morphs into a spice infused woody musky incense aroma in its final stage with that pleasant undercurrent of fresh flowers.

'Calvin Klein: Man epitomizes Calvin Klein's cutting edge minimalism and sexy style,' declares the blurb. 'It captures the essence of the Calvin Klein man in a new, modern classic way. Iconic. Masculine. Sexy. A blend of crisp freshness, sexy spices, and rich woods defines today's modern man.' While most of that is of course meaningless waffle, the fragrance does have a masculine redolence that is more Oscar De La Hoya than Charles Hawtrey. The duration of the bouquet is impressive too without lingering on the clothes in a sweet, cloying way. It retains a relatively sharp, clean scent while you have it on but I think the best thing about Calvin Klein Man is the middle section when the bergamot begins to fade and a minty blast of, er, mintness becomes the dominant component before a welcome cameo by the nutmeg in a scene stealing performance.

This is a pleasant fragrance that is also understated, even slightly tame by some standards. When it comes to fragrances this is smart and sensible rather than bright yellow trousers and a huge cravat. It costs about £20 for 50 ml so this is reasonable value and will last quite a long time, as long as you don't go completely mad with it and end up temporarily smelling like someone who has just been caught in an incense explosion in a rose garden while teaching a woodwork lesson, the force of the blast landing you in the world's largest Kendal Mint Cake before someone grates a tiny bit of nutmeg on your head. There are more expensive and spectacular fragrances available but I prefer Calvin Klein: Man to some of the more potent brews out there and would possibly purchase this again when the weather turns a tad parky and the summer begins to fade into the past leaving us with memories of England's dismal World Cup campaign and Andy Murray losing at Wimbledon. I think you could probably get a good deal on this if you shopped around and there certainly worse fragrances to part with your hard earned money for. Calvin Klein: Man is not bad at all.

          Advantages

          fresh scent

I should imagine the name took them a while to come with! At least it is simple and easy to remember. I saw loads of this at the airport recently, so plumped for a bottle. Calvin Klein is a trusty make, I trust them with my pants so why not trust them with smells too. When I am shopping for a fragrance I want something that will turn heads. In a good way of course. I want to slink through H and M and have a group of ladies gasp and pause and point as I waft on by like a delicate breeze.

Calvin Klein have managed to create a very manly fragrance here that will get you noticed. The scent is complex and hard to pin down, but definitely more manly than Joop and more assertive than Davidoff's Cool Water for instance.

Traces of mandarin give it a knowing fruity edge, while nutmeg and spearmint compliment surprisingly well to create a tasty undercurrent of manliness. Further down in the mix, regular suspects sandalwood, amberwood and musk penetrate with a slow expressive warmth and soak up the last lingering notes. When you wear it, the smell seems to improve as the day progresses. Initially quite punchy then becoming more aromatic as the hours go by. It still lurks before bedtime arrives which is good.

The fragrance would suit the man in the office and would also be chic enough to wear to the theatre or to a disco. Too strong for church and too overwhelming for a funeral, this is one fragrance that should be worn lightly and on the right occasion.

A 50ml bottle can be bought for about twenty pounds and comes in a smart and sexy black bottle with a pump action spray. A solid scent for the man who knows where he going in life, delivered with crispness and assurance.

          Calvin Klein Man
          --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I find it very important to smell nice and it gives me more confident when I'm out and about. You want to be noticed and especially when going out, people always come near to you while speaking and it's just nice when they notice you are wearing a nice fragrance. I like the Calvin Klein fragrances and almost every fragrance they bring out I like.

These days almost every well-respected designer has his or her own fragrance and Calvin Klein is certainly not an exception! Calvin Klein was founded in 1968 by Calvin Klein himself and is located at New York. Calvin Klein Contradiction is one of their more known fragrances and was introduced in 1998.

The bottle of Calvin Klein Man looks really good and manly strong. It's almost totally a black bottle, with the sides being transparent and a big cap on the top that you can take off. It's a really nice, nothing fancy, but strong looking bottle.

Calvin Klein Man has a very strong distinctive scent from really fresh mint smell when you apply it on yourself to a more wood, musk like smell when it settles down. It's a strong scent in the beginning but it does become less but still noticeable for people around you. I would say that you shouldn't apply it to much in the morning otherwise even people on a distance can smell it. The Calvin Klein Man has a really young feeling it, due the scent being fresh, which I like. The fragrance contains rosemary, mandarin, nutmeg, spearmint, cypress wood, sandalwood, amber wood and musk.

It's a typical man fragrance with a fresh and little bit strong wood musky scent. It surely doesn't smell like flowers or anything. The scent is quite strong so again you should be careful that you don't use to much, which is also good because this way you need les, which means the bottle last longer! It's definitely one of my favourites!

Cheap, easy, great smell and great for every day use!

This may not be every man or womens cup of tea but to me this fragrance is lush especially on my boyfriend! It drives me wild! It makes him smell amazing. Yet not many other young men like it.

The fragrance is very Woody and Spicey, yet is very clean smelling and refreshing, but it is brilliant it can be very strong and sometimes it is also a little over powering. The smell does settle down after a few minutes and smells a lot more softer and more pleasent.
The fragrance is a very masculine smell and very defined it is not like most other smells it is strong yet stunning.
You can buy a female version of this fragrance but it is not very pleasent! If you smell it you will know what I mean.

You can buy this as a splash on which you put on with your fingers or as a spray which is so much kinder to your skin and is so much more easy to use! I recommened the spray strongly.

This fragrace is so cheap now a days and has come down in price dramatically, which makes it perfect for daily wear or evening wear.

100mls will cost you around £12.99. It is such a bargain!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

          good after shave

I love a good big musky, heavy, wood laden fragrance, as anyone will know if they have read most of my previous reviews of fragrances! Well Calvin Klein Man is no exception. It is definitely a woody, musky scent that lingers all day once applied. I cannot believe that this fragrance has been around since 2007, but apparently it has. I am so surprised that it is not as ubiquitous as some others, but maybe that is to my advantage, as I hate smelling like everyone else!

Calvin Klein Man is an individual and original scent however, despite it having similar base ingredients! For me there is something similar to Issey Miyake, but at the same time they are very different. Both are big smelling and heavy woody fragrances, but perhaps it is a differnet finish. Again, there is a slight similarity to Christian Dior Fahrenheit, but Clavin Klein Man does not smell as old fashioned and has a younger feel about it.

Calvin Klein Man contains rosemary, mandarin, bay, nutmeg, incense, spearmint, cypress wood, and, oh dear, the usual (and overused) fragrance notes of bergamot, violet leaf, guaiac wood, sandalwood, amberwood and musk. Perhaps it is these overused notes that are the similarities to Fahrenheit and Issey Miyake.

Calvin Klein Man is available at in 30, 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. I have seen the 50 ml bottle retailing at £24.00, the 30 ml bottle can come in as low as £11.00 and the 100 ml bottle I got in last year's New Years sales for £24.00 - a bargain! Although I see that the 100 ml is usually around the £32.00 mark.

The bottle is an impossing black square, although the sides, although narrow are transparent so it is possible to see how much you hav left!

Final thoughts would be that this is a good evening wear after shave, reasonably priced and definitely unique!

            Advantages

            Well worth the price tag.

Calvin Klein are renowned in many aspects, from their clothing to the fragrances that they produce. This latest fragrance Calvin Klein: Man is no exception.

I was brought this as part of a set in Xmas of 2008 and have stuck with it ever since. With a sleek black bottle that scream sophistication, you only have to look at this fragrance to see that there is something about it. At around £31 now, I initially thought that many aftershaves are overpriced for what they are when you can get a cheap one however I was proved wrong by this.

After using this for the first time, I found that the fragrance lasted for over 3 hours without a top-up something I was not familiar with. Furthermore, the smell itself is a rather subtle yet spicy smell that in itself says masculinity. With newer fragrances aimed at replacing this, I would seriously recommend you snap it up whilst you can as it is ideal for everyday use or for special occasions. I myself tend to use it now for everyday occasions but have been known to wear it at important interviews as it is not overpowering yet is good enough to mask any perspiration that may occur at such an event.

The bottle itself is rather large in comparison to some of the fragrances you can get for the same price and last around 3 or 4 months if you use a little for everyday use.
