Calvin Klein Sheer Beauty Eau de Toilette
by walsha11
I have tried many different perfumes over the years and slowly come to find the few that I love using over and over again. That said, I still love receiving perfume as a gift and so when it comes to special events it is always the go to gift that I ask for.
This particular perfume is one that I was given not that long ago by ... a friend. I have used other Calvin Klein perfumes before and found them pleasant but nothing totally spellbinding. I had high hopes for this one as I liked the bottle and thought that it might have a bit more staying power.
The bottle is a oval shaped clear glass bottle with a pale pink coloured liquid inside. It has a clear plastic rectangular shade lid and very small minimal writing on the front of the bottle. The overall look is very delicate, feminine and chic. I wouldn't say it is overly modern looking but personally I prefer I bit more of a classic style anyway. I think the design is beautiful and it really compliments my personal taste.
The perfume when you first smell it has a lovely fruity and floral scent to it which certainly upholds the classic style of the bottle. Underneath there are also fresh citrus scents but overall the predominant fragrances are of soft fruits and powdery flowers. I love this combination as I think it has a real timeless quality which makes it ideal for day wear and perfect for any age or season.
The top notes of the perfume are bergamot, red berries and bellini which combine beautifully to create a soft fruity layer which is neither overly sweet or sharp smelling. The heart notes are jasmine, peony and lily which come together to create this lovely fresh, powdery smelling bouquet which is reminiscent of a beautiful summers day in an English country garden. I love how light these layers are together and manage to be very refined and elegant smelling. The base notes are musk, sandalwood and vanilla which create just the right amount of depth for this perfume without beig a huge contrast to the very light and summery initial scents in the perfume.
Overall the scent is very clean, feminine and elegant smelling. It does have those more musky woody smells at the end which add depth but these are tempered beautifully by vanilla which adds a real warmth and sweetness which strengthens the fruity florals.
This perfume retails at around £20-£40 depending on the size of bottle you go for. With a perfume like this which has been around for quite a while I personally think it is better off waiting around for January sales to see if you can get a good deal on this. Otherwise the internet is always a good source of money saving deals. I do think that this is fairly reasonably priced given the quality of the fragrance. My only slight issues is that, like the other Calvin Klein fragrances I've tried, it doesn't seem to have a strong enough scent to last the entire day.
Overall, this is a lovely perfume but I wish it stuck around a bit longer. Read the complete review |

Calvin Klein Eternity Eau de Parfum
by alyson29
I adore spraying beautifully scented perfumes onto my skin and have a few firm favourites, which I will repeatedly purchase. An eau de parfum that has been amongst those on the top of my list for a good few years is Calvin Klein's Eternity with this review discussing my experience.
It was the packaging that initially ... attracted me to this delightful floral feminine scent, which was launched in 1988 and whilst I would normally consider an oblong shaped glass bottle to be unappealing to the eye, the bottle designer, Pierre Dinand has created a contemporary and sophisticated offering. The upper section of the bottle is slightly chunky, but works well to enhance and complete the overall design with its stylish and modern shiny chrome finish. Sophia Grojsman is responsible for the stunning eau de parfum with the name Eternity being inspired by the inscribed antique ring that Calvin Klein gave to his bride, Kelly Rector.
The bottle I own contains 30 ml of fragrance, which offers a pale yellow hue with the lid being both easily removed and replaced. Only a slight press of the atomiser is required to release a sufficient amount of eau de parfum, which is dispensed in a very fine mist. I cannot recall when I initially tried out Eternity, but it was the opening and uplifting accords of freesia intermingled with the delicate fragrance of mandarin and sage that had me totally smitten.
The aroma of freesia remains prominent for approximately five minutes and is soon accompanied with the beautiful ensemble of heart notes, which consist of marigold, narcisse, white lily and muguet. The four floral notes work in perfect harmony and conjure up images of warm summer days and blue sunny skies. I'm not generally a fan of floral fragrances, particularly as they can often be described as cloying, but their inclusion in Eternity is extremely favourable. The base notes, which remain evident for the longest, make their appearance approximately an hour later where we are greeted with one of my favourite scents, namely patchouli, which is accompanied by the musky tones of sandalwood and enchanting amber. Eternity is a romantic and sensual fragrance without being too heavy or overpowering.
As I would describe the skin on my body as normal, the majority of my fragrances last quite well, particularly as I prefer wearing eau de parfums, which contain approximately 7 - 15% perfume concentrates. Those consumers who have dry skin may find that their fragrances do not last as long when compared to those with normal or oily skins, as the skin's natural moisture is able to hold in the scent. Calvin Klein's Eternity offers superb longevity, as its beautiful aroma is still evident within five hours of spraying although at this point it is a little more delicate.
In order to increase the depth and staying power of the scent, I favour layering my perfumes with matching products such as the shower gel and body lotion. However, I find that they get used far more quickly than the eau de parfum, so I apply to my skin a little unscented baby lotion mixed with a spray or two of the eau de parfum. I always apply fragrances to my pulse points such as behind the knees, ears and wrists, as these areas emit more heat due to the blood vessels being closer to the skin's surface. As a result, the scent is more prominent as it wafts into the air.
Whilst many people favour storing their fragrance bottles on a shelf or dressing table, both heat and sunlight can cause the alcohol in the perfume to evaporate in addition to disturbing the ingredients. Furthermore, the contents will slowly begin to oxidise, which will subsequently destroy the scent. However, if stored correctly in a cool and dark place, an opened bottle of perfume should offer a lifetime of approximately two years.
I cannot speak highly enough of Eternity, as it is an eau de parfum that is well suited for both daytime and evening wear. I tend to stock up on my fragrances directly after Christmas, particularly as most of the larger stores such as Debenhams, John Lewis and Boots will heavily discount their gift sets where you can obtain matching toiletries at no extra cost.
Calvin Klein Eternity is available in two sizes and at the time of writing can be found at a discounted price at Boots where the 30 ml bottle has been reduced from £26 to £17.33 and the 50 ml bottle has been reduced from £40 to £26.66. I can award no less than five stars to this stunning fragrance, which receives a high recommendation.

Calvin Klein Eternity Eau de Parfum
by wazza115
My first ever 'grown up' perfume was Eternity by Calvin Klein and whenever I smell it, I get memories of my younger days, it was also the perfume I used to wear when I met my other half and although her pretends his memory is shocking, he always comments when I wear this.
The bottle has a very simple and classic design; it ... comes in a rectangle clear glass bottle, with a nice silver lid which is shaped a little like a letter T. To the front of the bottle, is the Eternity logo in plain black writing. The packaging is also very simple, plain white, again, with the Eternity logo in black writing.
Accordingly to basenotes.com, the fragrance is as follows:
Top notes: Freesia, Mandarin & Sage
Middle notes: Muguet, White Lily, Marigold & Narcisse
Base notes: Patchouli, sandalwood & Amber
Now I am a little older and wiser, I should I read the elements of the fragrance, I would probably never consider this as I prefer fruity and fresh smells however I still really love this. I always associate floral fragrances as being ' old fashioned; however this isn't the case at all, this fragrance it quite refreshing.
Upon first spray, what strikes me now more than ever is how strong this is, you really don't need a lot to get the desired effect (which worries me slightly as I know when I used to go out drinking, I used to 'plaster' myself in it!!!), I used to wear for everyday and evening wear, just applying different amounts to make this stronger. I find that it has really good staying power, hours after spraying; I can still smell on my skin and clothes.
It comes in three different sized bottles; 30ml which retails for approximately £29, 50ml which costs around £43 and 100ml which retails for around £60. Eternity is only available in EDP, which doesn't bother me as I prefer EDP as I find it stronger, so it always lasts me a bit longer. You can also shower cream and body lotion and occasionally (mainly near Christmas), you can get a mixture of products in gift sets for quite reasonably prices.
Overall, I would recommend this fragrance, not just because it reminds me of my younger, carefree days but because I love the fragrance, staying power and reasonable price and I would give 5 out of 5 stars.
