Allure is another excellent fragrance from those nice people at Chanel and while it will not exactly break the bank buying this it is not cheap either. I'm currently on my second bottle and this one cost me £52 for a 50ml bottle and it certainly pays to shop around as I found that online the price does vary quite a bit.
It has what I would describe as quite a mature smell to it and seems to be strongly influenced by a spicey oriental feel to it, it has a certain level of sophistication about it and certainly does not smell cheap or tacky unlike some scents which pitch themselves at the spicey oriental range of fragrances. Now the standard for fragrances is to describe top, middle and base notes in terms of the different compoonents but with this perfume they claim that it has six different levels to it that combine together, I must say that this all smacks of marketing guff to me as a way of differentiating the fragrance.
What I could detect is the strong influnece of Jasmine and water lillies in this scent which is I guess where the oriental feel for this warm rather intoxiocating scent comes from. It also has a fruity edge to it but I could not distinguish the actual smells my nose was picking up just that it had a slightly sweet juicy feel to it. Stealing some text from a website they list the following contributors to this fragrance "citron, bergamot, mandarin, peach, may rose, jasmine, water lily, sandalwood, vetiver and vanilla". Either way whatever notes or influences they claim the overall impact is a very pleasant and delightful scent.
The packagaing is what I would describe as simple and elegant, this perfume rests on the quality of the product rather than going in for flashy packaging, a touch of class is the image that it seeks to convey and that is what it achieves.
For me this perfume is equally at hiome being worn day and night and it has excellent staying power on your skin and hardly weakens throughout the day, something I have been really impressed by.
I would certainly recommend this classy exotic scent.
I have a number of celebrity-endorsed perfumes on my dressing tables, most of them cost me around £15 each, some of them bring me out in a rash - meaning that I can't wear them - and those that I can tolerate only last for a few hours after application.
There hasn't been a perfume within my vast collection that I'd pick out as 'my scent' for years, mainly because nothing has particularly grabbed me, but this changes a few months back. I'd been out with colleagues for drinks and I was saying goodbye to a work pal's girlfriend, when I hugged her I smelt her perfume which was gorgeous, exotic, alluring... When I asked her what she was wearing she offered for me to try it. I gratefully accepted her offer and before I knew it I was wearing Allure EDP too. The perfume has sweet, oriental scent that lingered on my skin throughout the night and even the next morning I could still catch notes of this perfume on my wrist.
As soon as I smelt Allure I knew that I had to own a bottle, but this perfume is made by Chanel, so it's not cheap. When I was looking on-line I found some good deals on eBay, but if you're looking to pick this up on the high street then I'd say that Boots is the best place to shop - you will be able to buy a 35ml bottle from Boots for £44, or alternatively you can pick up a 50 ml bottle for £59.
The perfume bottle is rectangular shaped and I think it looks very elegant. I also like having a bottle of Chanel on my dressing table because the brand radiates class and glamour.
Allure is slightly different from other perfumes because instead of having the traditional top, medium and base notes, Chanel claims that it's multifaceted and that six different smells work together in harmony, with no particular scent overpowering another. The six facets within Allure are:
1) Fresh : Citron note.
2) Fruity : Sicilian Mandarin.
3) Timeless Floral : May Rose, Oriental Jasmine.
4) Imaginary Floral : Magnolia accord, Honeysuckle accord, Water lily accord.
5) Woody : Haitian Vetiver.
6) Oriental : Vanilla from Réunion.
Perhaps the different facets help to explain why this scent doesn't seem to change while you're wearing it. The rich, exotic, floral tones are present from application onwards. I also find that once I've applied this perfume the scent lasts on my skin for around 12 hours.
I absolutely love Allure EDP, the scent is captivating, mysterious and exotic. If you're sick of wearing celebrity-endorsed, cheap EDTs then I suggest that you try out Allure - it's a beautiful perfume that's perfect for women of all ages.
Chanel Allure has to be my favourite fragrance of all time. It is probably the only perfume I have known everyone who smells it to love it.
I defy anyone not to like the smell.
The scent lingers with you all day - I am allergic to perfume (it brings me out in a rash) so I have to spray on my clothes instead - often this means the smell fades quite quickly. Not with Chanel Allure.
It is a sexy and in my opinion musky smell that oozes confidence and allure.
I feel the name and the bottle are understated which adds to its appeal, the bottle is simple, no mad designs or bright colours - the scent and brand are advertisments in themselves and need to further explanations.
If you don't try any other perfume ever I recommend you pop down to your local fragrance counter and try some of this.
Also it the kind of fragrance that appeals to young and old alike - some perfumes are marketed at young girls and others at the more mature woman. I can see anyone wearing this....I wore it when I was a teenager, and my mum wears it now, enough said!
I bought this wanting a 'signature scent' that I could wear every day, not get bored of and would be 'mine'. After a lot of looking around, smelling and sneezing, I found Chanel Allure - I have now been wearing it for nearly ten years and I still love it!
Although it is classed as a foral scent, Allure is neither too flowerly and sweet nor too musky and strong, which makes it the ideal every day fragrance - however, it is also perfect to wear in the evening.
My only two downsides for this perfume would be price and the fact that, for the wearer, the smell does not tend to linger more than half an hour after it has been applied. This is partly because of course your nose gets used to a smell and you stop smelling it as strongly and partly because it is quite a light scent (I find other perfumes tend to be noticable far longer). However, I've had enough positive comments to know that even if I can no longer detect the scent, other people still can.
I have purchased this product both in a single 100ml bottle as well as the three handbag sized vials that can be found in duty free in airports - although the latter is a far more expensive way of buying Allure (even at duty free prices!) I enjoy having the perfume in my bag with me to use if I go out after work to refresh the smell and these are a perfect size for this.
As the name suggests, Chanel Allure is one of the most intoxicating, sexy perfumes around. The rich scent mingles with your own scent to create something truly alluring. I have always worn this scent and am constantly stopped by women and men to ask what scent I am wearing. I only wear it once in the morning and it lasts all day. Infact, when I come home from work and cuddle my baby..he ends up smelling of Allure. By far the best fragrance Chanel does, besides Coco Chanel (my favourite too.) The scent has sweet and spicy notes that is not too overpowering like some fragrances. The 100ml bottle is quite large and last a long time especially if it is Eau de Parfum. If one where to layer, you will find that your fragrance lasts even longer as you only need too use very little at a time. Great value!!
****Chanel: Allure, Eau de Parfum ****
This is not a perfume i would have bought myself but on my last birthday i did receive quite a few perfumes as it is something i really like getting.
**About Chanel/the range**
Quite a high quality brand they sell a range of products from jewellery and clothes to cosmetics and perfumes. This particular perfume came out way back in 1996 and was the 5th one in the set. Shows how good it is that it is still going after all these years!!!!
Both the box and bottle are nothing special to look at, the bottle does however look quite sturdy so i don't think it would break easily(something i wont be trying out). The bottle lid is a nice bronze colour with chanel written in a gold band. Not a bottle i will be keeping afterwards.
This is one of these perfumes that is very distinctive. Like the way most girls could probably pick out Britneys Curious or touch of pink once you have smelled this you wont forget it.
My first impressions of this is that it is quite sweet/floral but at the same time not overpowering. It is quite hard to describe because it has got a lot of different smells going on. You are first hit with a fruity and floral (lilies?) smell but the after smell is vanilla which makes me think of oriental perfumes. After a couple of hours i could make out a rose smell. Even though it has a lot going on the overall effect is lovely- very allure-ing!!!
I would describe it as being overall quite floral and fresh. It is definitely a classic perfume which everyone should try!! Personally i would wear this as a day time perfume but since it is so nice it could be used for special occasions as well.
**Price/Where to get**
The 50ml Eau De Toilette Bottle costs £35 which is not bad for a chanel perfume, its not their most expensive!!
As mentioned in another review, Chanel is by far my favourite cosmetic and fragrance brand. To top this Chanel Allure is my favourite fragrance ever!
It is a fragrance that I wear almost daily and the smell is still divine even after all of these years.
Considering that Coco Chanel is my second favourite, this too is a perfume based on the ideals of Coco Chanel and the perfume named after her.
Alike Coco Chanel, the fragrance is a mix of floral hues and oriental fragrance, however, Allure has an air of freshness to it which is probably from the exoic oriental flowers like water lily, magnolia and vanilla for a few examples.
The conept of Allure was based upon sesual seduction and the fragrance lives up to its expectations.
It is a sweet subtle smell that transmits an air of elegance and grace and can be used in any sitaution whetehr it be a daily shopping trip to a dinner date.
In my opinion the best fragrance on the market and it comes in with a lower price tag than some of the other Chanel fragrances.
First thing I have to say is, WHY is (the ever lovely, I must state) Chanel number 5 so popular when this beautiful scent is around? I definately prefer this over the Chanel classic. Gorgeous glamorous scent which is definately more modern and upto date than Number5. I would recommend this for modern women who want a signature scent. Definately fits the bill. It's a refreshing warm scent which could be worn on special occasions and definately get you noticed. I'm not usually one to change my usual perfume often but once I tested this it is now definately the more popular perfume I use and a lot more often. I have to say the bottle is nothing special for what you pay though. I know Chanel usually do the "minimalistic" look but it makes many of their scents too familiar when looking at them making it a little difficult to pick up the right thing in the shop, otherwise; wonderful perfume.
Chanel Allure...Launched in 1996, is a refreshing oriental floral blend of soft sweet spices and orange flowers with fruity notes of fresh citrus melons peaches and plums
This is my all time favourite scent, so aptly named...allure, some think this scent is too strong but I really don't agree. This scent is sophistication in a bottle. One spray lasts all day and smells so womanly, this too is my fiances favourite scent on me and when I wear it everybody notices (got to love the attention).
Everytime I smell this scent I think of a seductive, sophisticated, confident woman...something I aim to be!
I would definitly buy this perfume over and over again, its incredably sexy and warm the perfect scent for autumn and winter. Probably one of the mid range Chanel, not as strong as No5 or intimidating or as soft as some of the others. I'm not even going to mention the price, because for a fragrence like this it really shouldn't matter.
Wow.... I really truely love this scent!
Chanel Allure has to be my all time favourite fragrance although not used so much in the summer because it is quite strong, maybe an Autumn fragrance that will stay with you no matter how strong the winds are.
I just love the scent of this perfume; oriental flower is how it has been best described.
It is rather on the pricey side compared to the rest of the perfume market but it is Chanel and as you only need 1 or 2 sprays that last nearly all day it's definitely worth the money.
This is a very recognisable fragrance, and seems to suite most people, which is rare for one perfume.
A word to the wise however, I have extremely sensitive skin and usually purchase the vaporizer, this year I purchased the Perfume which reacted with my skin slightly so if you have very sensitive skin opt for the Vaporizer just as powerful as the perfume I believe and also a larger bottle and slightly cheaper.
I got this perfume by mistake - I asked for Chanel allure sensual - but it was a great mistake. it is now in my favourite perfume category and I am a perfume freak!
It's simply beautiful has a floral and oriental smell to it. I believe citron is a key note in its make-up.
You really don't need to put much on either, as with all Chanel perfumes, they are quite distinct and can be over powering if you go mad with them.
The bottle is cute and simple and even though it can be pricey at times, it is well worth the money.
You feel feminine when you wear it without feeling tarty and due to its lighter fragrance then other Chanel perfumes and it lasts such a long time, all through the day near enough. I love it and have actually properly asked for it this time!
My son bought me a bottle of this back from holiday in his duty free last year. I had actually asked him to get me something else and he picked this up by mistake. I'm so glad he did because I really love it. <(ô¿ô)>
I have had some chanel perfumes that have been quite heavy and I thought this was going to be the same, but this has a light feminine fragrant scent and I can wear it every day, not just evenings out.
According to chanel Allure has six facets you'll find Bergamot, Mandarin, Water Lily and Magnolia, Jasmine and May Roses, Vetiver and Vanilla.
It's definately a firm favourite for me and always at the top of my wish list if someone is going abroad on holiday and can get it duty free because i'm too tight to pay nearly £70 for a bottle of perfume however good it smells.
I was lucky enough to receive a large bottle of this perfume for my birthday from my grandmother. I was quite young at the time and although I would say that this scent is rather classic I still loved it even at a young age.
The fragrance is "a refreshing, oriental, floral fragrance" according to some websites. The version for women is a feminine scent made from "a blend of soft sweet spices, orange flowers as well as fruity notes of fresh citrus, melons, peaches, and plums". Personally I don't think my nose is good enough to detect all those different scents but I would definitely agree that it is somewhat oriental and floral. It certainly anything like the citrusy scents of Gucci Rush, if you're familiar with that range. I tend to associate those more citrusy scents with either younger people or daywear. Allure is also recommended for daywear but I found that it was definitely sexy enough for evening wear.
If you are a person who doesn't like over-powering fragrances then don't worry, Allure is quite a subtle scent. I had a regular bottle without the spray (although I don't really recommend this as although a spray probably wastes more, I think you get better coverage) and would add a little bit to my wrists and neck. Even having the scent so close to my nose I didn't find over-powering, and I am quite sensitive to strong perfumes.
In terms of durability I would rate the perfume around average. As I mentioned, I didn't have the spray version, which meant that I tended to only use a little bit at a time. I could still smell the scent on my skin a few hours after the application but I'm not sure that anyone just walking past me would be able to smell it. But then, I'm not one of those people who likes their perfume to fill the room when they enter, so it probably suited me quite well.
One real positive of the fragrance though, was that the perfume seems to really stay true to its scent in the bottle. I had my bottle for a few years I'd say, as I was only using a little bit at each time, and I never noticed it losing scent or becoming musty or changing at all really. This might not matter for people who use their perfume frequently but if you only use it for special occasions, or perhaps you have a number of different perfumes that you rotate through, it might be important to know that if it takes you a while to get through the bottle it isn't likely to spoil.
Allure was released in 1996 and probably does look a little dated these days, especially in comparison to some of the more dramatic packaging of Anna Sui or Gucci fragrances, but it does have a rather timeless, classic look that I think has it's appeal. This is certainly not a flash in the pan perfume and although I will be looking to buy a different perfume as my next purchase, I think I will always really appreciate this scent.
So, in summary, I'd say this perfume is light enough to wear during the day, but sexy enough to wear during the evening. It's not going to knock anyone's socks off, but as a sensual, delicate scent it's hard to beat. Suitable for younger or older women it certainly isn't a flash in the pan, trendy type of scent - you'll love it for years.
Chanel Allure is exactly what the name says. It is classy, gorgeous and slightly provocative. It is sexy and grown up, the notes include vanilla, floral, musk and some spice. It lasts around 6 hours which is quite good for a perfume. It is quite a heavy scent which is perfect for the evening or on special occasions, but at the same time it is extremely feminine. It isn't overpowering and old-ladyish either, which makes it perfect for any women that wants to be elegant.
I was lucky enough to have been bought a bottle of this for christmas. I must admit it's not my favourite but it comes pretty close. It is quite unique and there was a lot of hype when it first came out not only because it was Channel but it was suposed to a whole new style of perfume.
I will just do the history of the perfume as if i include the whole Channel dynasty, Well thats a review in it's self! This perfume was unveiled in 1996 ( can't believe it's over 10 years! ) it was the 5th channel womens fragrance and was the brain child of Jacques polge. He decided to throw out the usual methods of composing fragrance and use something completly different. Instead of using Top, middle & bottom notes he used multi tones, 6 different ones and none of them stronger than the other, so there was not a dominant scent as there usually is. I remember being told that this fragrance will smell different on everybody.
1. fresh....... Citron
2. fruity....... Sicillian mandarin
3. Timeless floral..... may rose & oriental jasmine
4. Imaginary floral..... Magnolia, honeysuckle & Water lily
5. Woody..... Haitian vetiver
6. oriental..... vanilla
So i suppose that all makes perfect sense now doesn't it?
usually when you first spray a perfume the first scent you smell is the top note and the strongest, As that dies down you get the middle note, Then the bottom note,This mixes with the middle note and that should be the scent. But with this fragrance you seem to get all at the same time.
Normally i do not like floral perfume but this does smell a bit of rose but it is mixed with the vanilla and magnolia so the floral is not very strong. On one friend of mine it is very floral and on another it just doesn't smell nice at all! ( Sorry luv! ). my best advice would be to test it first.
This is very simple and classy, A rectangle clear bottle with the allure name in gold. The top is silver with a gold band, The packaging is a sort of dark peach and again plain and classy.
When you spray on your wrists try not to rub together. the best place to spray are your pulse points and a very good one is the back of your knees.
Try not to test new perfumes at your time of the month ( Just for the girls ) as hormones can play tricks. To keep perfume fresh do not leave in direct sunlight.
RANGE & PRICE

This is a nice day perfume and does last the day. you don't need to overuse as it could be bit heady. I have tried a lot of the new perfumes but i find a lot of them too sweet and i do think this one will stand the test of time.
