Ok so having recently been around at a family members house I was going through my cousins aftershave collection, of which he has a modest range of fragrances, quite similar to myself, and i noticed that there was a Chanel bottle in the mix. My first insitinctive reaction was to laugh at my friend for having womens perfume, but he was quite to point out that in fact it was a mens fragrance, and upon closer inspection it turns out he was correct, however I was still skeptical. Then I made one spray, just one single spray on to my wrists and took a whiff and well the rest is history....
So the small was extravagent to say the least, it was quite similar to Huge Boss's original man flavour if any of you are familiar just a lot more purer and richer smell than the hugo boss counterpart. The best way to describe this fragrance is that is very clean, and the base notes are very distinctive, I would say it is a fruity fragrance but that would be doing it a disservice as it also a very masculine fragrance.
In terms of when to wear this, initially for a fragrance of this type I would suggest the day, but it could easily be pulled off as a going out fragrance such is its quality, plus it is on the pricey side, and ill come to this point a little later, hence to spray this everyday would just be eating away at your wallet. Maybe do what I do and mix it up, and use a different aftershave for everyday of the week.
So coming to the price your looking at just under £50 for a 75ml bottle. For a fragrance of this quality, it is actually a very fair price, so I can see why it is a best seller and the headline act for the Chanel mens fragrance range.
Overall I havent got enough praise for this, and going back to the first paragraph I can see why certain people wouldnt want to give this a try as they dont know that Chanel make mens fragrances. After purchase, I have since converted a few of my friends over to chanel and they all agree that it is of a very high quality.
Since buying this, I have also bought quite a few other Chanel mens fragrances and products, and will be reviewing them all in the near future, so stay tuned. This gets five stars from me.
Chanel Allure Pour Homme - as the name says, this is a male fragrance but I have to admit I have been wearing men's fragrances for over thirty years. I am feminine but hate women's scents - they always smell too sweet for my liking.
Allure has a gorgeous fresh scent and it is my current favourite. It definitely takes on a different smell when worn by a woman which I suppose is down to hormones. Men have no idea that it's a male scent I'm wearing and I often get complimented on what a lovely fragrance I'm wearing.
I have heard a lot of women say that perfumes smell horrible on them, which is something that can happen, as it all boils down to chemical reactions on different skin types. After suggesting they try a male fragrance it has been amazing how many times this has worked for them and they no longer have a problem wearing a scent.
My all time favourite has to be 'Snuff' by Schiaparelli, which I once managed to obtain in Tunisia by swapping a pair of jeans for a bottle.
Unfortunately, it has been discontinued but there are plenty of lovely fragrances around and Allure is pretty hard to beat.
Well, I could review this fragrance in one word: Great!
I am not someone who usually wears Eau de Toilette mainly because there are so many that are overpoweringly strong, suffocating or just plain horrible! However, I found Allure Homme to be none of these things.
It is light, quasi-citrus smelling and has quite a complex and sofisticated aroma. This is one fragrance that is almost guaranteed to have people asking about it when you are wearing it. I was introduced to it after smelling on someone at a party!
It is rather expensive, at just under £50, but then this is a fairly accurate reflection of the average price of high street fragrance. Also, it is important to realise that a 50ml bottle will last a very long time, so viewed in that light it is not bad at all!
In summary, a classic Eau de Toilette that will be well received all round.
Allure for men is not too light, fresh and airy a fragrance like many others (e.g. Calvin Klein one). Allure for men has a classy manly smell which somehow manages not to be too overpowering. Chanel (in my opinion) seem to make some of the best fragrances around, not only for men but also for women. When wearing Allure for men, I have had many comments by women and men alike about how nice i smell. It is a fragrance which will please anyone whether they like a lighter, fresher smell or a musty manly smell as it is a perfectly made medium. Ladies love it!
