Advantages: lasting power, scent, perfect for younger Chanel fans, the way it develops
Disadvantages: the bottle is a little plain compared to the EDP
My obsession of Coco Mademoiselle started a few years ago. I sampled it in my fiances Aunts home and was rather jealous of her collection of Coco Mademoiselle products. I received the body lotion which I loved and desperately wanted to own a bottle of the fragrance itself. It was always the first fragrance I sprayed when at a Chanel counter or in my local Boots store. My lovely big sister treated me to a bottle for my Christmas and I must admit, it was my favourite Christmas present!
*~Coco Mademoiselle~*
'A light, fresh, sophisticated fragrance for a sexy and captivating woman'
Coco Mademoiselle was introduced to the Chanel fragrance range in 2001. It was created by Jacques Polge. Coco Mademoiselle was created to appeal to younger Chanel fans. It is marketed as being a 'fresh-oriental' fragrance.
Coco Mademoiselle can be bought in an eau de parfum and an eau de toilette spray. I own the latter. This fragrance range also includes a body lotion, shower gel, bath soap, oil spray, body cream, hair mist, moisture mist and a deodorant. It is quite an extensive range.
*~Scent~*
The main fragrance notes of Coco Mademoiselle are :
*Top notes (the initial scent) - Sicilian orange and bergamot
*Heart notes (the main body of the scent) - jasmine, rose, ylang ylang and mimosa
*Base notes (the final part of the scent) - patchouli, Bourbon vanilla, white musk, tonka bean and Haitian vetiver
*~Design~*
The bottle design for Coco Mademoiselle EDT is a little simpler than the EDP bottle. The bottle is rectangular in shape and made from thick, clear glass. A white lid houses a gold, push down spray and the fragrance name is printed on the front of the bottle. The bottle is then boxed in a classic Chanel style box. If bought from certain department stores, it may also be wrapped up and placed in a lovely Chanel bag. The perfect gift.
*~Price and Availability~*
Coco Mademoiselle is widely available online and on the highstreet. I would recommend buying direct from a Chanel counter or established department store to ensure authenticity. Prices are similar across the different stores. Stockists include Boots, Harrods and House of Fraser to name a few. Ex[ect to pay around :
*50ml - £53.00
*100ml - £76.00
If you wish to buy the stronger EDP, you are looking at an increase in price of around £13-£16 per bottle.
*~My Thoughts~*
I was delighted to receive this as a gift. I felt very spoiled unwrapping the pretty packaging and have been wearing this proudly. I do love the strength of the EDP but the EDT is a lighter alternative which is equally as beautiful to wear. I'm hoping to add to my Coco Mademoiselle collection this year and have my eye on the body cream and moisture mist.
Whilst expensive, this EDT is very much worth the cost. It is a very special fragrance which I alternate with others to make my 50ml bottle last all the bit longer. On paper, this doesn't immediately strike me as being a scent that I would have been happy to now call my signature scent. I fell in love with it from the first spray and just love wearing it.
Despite being an EDT, one or two short sprays of Coco Mademoiselle is more than enough to leave me feeling fresh and fragranced. The first spray immediately takes hold of my senses and simply smells amazing. Chanel have worked together some simple, well used fragrance notes to create the top notes. For some reason, they seem to smell a lot better than they would do in a cheaper branded scent. Coco Mademoiselle smells 'expensive' and of a high quality right from the start.
The initial scent is a very fresh and light yet noticeable on my skin by myself and those around me. The orange note gives off a citrusy aroma which is juicy, rich and sweet. It is enhanced by the bergamot to create an all round, refreshing scent which I really love. At times, I notice a bitter undertone to the scent which reminds me of fresh oranges. It is a mood brightening scent in my opinion and is perfectly natural smelling.
The orange scent lingers on my skin as the heart notes emerge. The heart of Coco Mademoiselle has been created to appeal to younger wearers who do not favour heavy floral scents. The jasmine and rose come through at a lovely pace and appear to be more fresh and inviting than rich and sensual like with other scents. The heart notes create a fresh, sweet floral bloom on my skin but never becomes cloying or overpowering. The floral scent is delicate and pretty. It is feminine and subtle but still leaves me feeling perfumed and special. The orange note whispers through the floral notes often but sits quite close to the skin mainly.
The base notes of Coco Mademoiselle EDT enhance the special feel of this scent. The freshness is still there but warmer notes start to emerge and change the scent to a comforting, indulgent scent. The bourbon vanilla is the prominent note - rich, sweet and authentic. It is mingled with a hint of patchouli and a delicate musky undertone. The other notes blend in to increase the strength of the base notes but a heavenly, sweet and playful aroma is left on my skin for several hours. Coco Mademoiselle develops over the course of 7 or 8 hours which I find excellent. I can notice it lightly on my skin and clothing for much longer. If layered with the body lotion, I find that it lasts most of the day. Althought it does last well, I often like to give it a top up during the day to keep the scent more noticeable.
*~Suitability~*
In my opinion, Coco Mademoiselle is a light, feminine and youthful fragrance. I would say it is more suited to younger wearers but my fiances Aunt is in her early 50s and this smells gorgeous on her. It all depends on what you like to wear really. I find that this EDT is perfect for wearing as a day time perfume. I find the strength of the EDP more suited to evening wear.
*~Conclusion~*
I do love Coco Mademoiselle EDT. It makes me feel special when I am wearing it and it smells beautiful on my skin. It is such a pretty scent that never fails to put a smile on my face when I spray it on to my skin. I find the EDT doesn't have the same classy feel as the EDP because it is lighter. It still equally as special to wear and I can highly recommend it. It is more appealing than the heavier Chanel scents as definitely my favourite scent from this brand.
Thanks for reading :)
