This Karl Lagerfelds perfume Chloe Narcisse is a lovely fragrant perfume and has been around since 1992. I particularly like the scent of vanilla, and this perfume has base notes vanilla, sandalwood, absolut musk, Tolu Bsalm and appealed to me instantly. Its described as also having the floral features of daffodil, marigold, range blossum, pineapple, peach and violets with middle notes of rose, jasmine, gardenia, carnation and spice.
Comes in 30, 50 and 100ml bottles. 100ml from Amazon will set you back EDT £18.95 but can be brought from many online sites as well as in the high street, so its definitely worth researching the best price. The 100ml bottle can also be purchased in a gift set with a 200ml body lotion online for about £25.
It comes in a pink flowery box, the perfume bottle is pretty and could even be described as elegant with a flower petal lid.
This is another perfume that I always like to have on my dressing table, it is one that I often get complimented on its aroma and I would class it as a too nice for work fragrance. It also seems to have enough staying power for the day.
I'm going to give this perfume 5/5 as it's friday, Bank holiday weekend and I really like it.
Perfume is so important to any woman that it should be treated as a major purchase. Sadly, so may women and girls go for something entirely unsuitable to their personality and individual body chemistry. I don't know of any studies that's been done in this area, but each person is unique and it's well known that the human body gives off it's own unique smell, the pheromones that attract a mate or partner. Also, a perfume is a statement of how you see yourself and can influence moods and how you see yourself at different ages.
For myself, my taste in perfumes has changed with age, but although my choices may differ, there are some perfumes that suit my bodily make-up so that I tend to use the same perfume, or when buying a new one I'll be drawn to something similar. For instance, I used to love the perfume, Opium and it suited me for evening wear but was far too strong for the day. Somehow it was the one perfume that lasted on my skin, sometimes leaving behind the scent the following day, even after bathing.
Back in 1992 a new scent emerged on the market and became an overnight success. The perfume was Chloe and to this day it remains one of my favourite perfumes. Around this time my daughter was just starting university and I wanted to give her a special gift on her first Christmas break. She liked the smell of Chloe on me but it was slightly too spicy for her tastes and so I bought her Chloe Narcisse a light fragrance with a floral tone but with a subtle bitter undertone that added a bite to the aroma.
It became a firm favourite of hers and one I still buy for her, but also for myself since I discovered that my body seemed to react differently to my previously favourite spicy, oriental perfumes. I still like them but they don't seem to like me much anymore. I put this down to a change in myself since the menopause, but maybe it's a change in how I see myself. However it is, my tastes now are for more floral scents and Chloe Narcisse suits both my image and my pocket, a standard eau de cologne retailing at about £11.50 with offers usually appearing around the Xmas season.
Most eau de cologne or perfumes have three distinctive 'notes' that define how the perfume turns out. Generally the bottom note is the base of all aromas and is usually a strong one. Then there is a middle, or 'heart' note, with the top 'note' giving the finished product.
With Chloe Narcisse the top notes are the following-
Peach, pineapple, sweet orange blossom and delicate violet.
The heart notes are -
Gardenia, carnation, jasmine and rose.
The base notes are -
Cedar, sandalwood vanilla and musk.
The perfume is a floral with a dominant daffodil theme but has a bitter note that gives the scent an intensity it would overwise lack. It's a beautiful smell that suits most women and suggests a spring day or youthfulness inside the body of a woman.
I've been wearing this for many years now, alternating it with new perfumes but always going back to this one for the confidence it gives me in myself. I feel younger wearing it and it reminds me of special days in my life, in particular my daughter's wedding when she wore this to compliment her glowing look and the heady scent of a mid-June day. The sun was shining, the roses were blooming and it couldn't have been better without a cloud in the sky. The wedding was held in a country manor and the theme was definitely floral.
I would recommend this to any woman who likes a floral scent that's still very grown-up and is fairly reasonably priced. You can buy it as eau de toilette or cologne whichever you call it, or as a perfume, which is more expensive. I'd recommend using a tester and walking around for a while wearing it to see if it suits you. Generally speaking it seems very popular.
A full five stars from me, this is one of those classics that will never date.
Thanks for reading.

Chloé: Narcisse, Eau de Toilette
If you've read some of my latest reviews, then you probably know that I love perfumes! I think if you smell nice, it always gives you a lot more confidence. But I never want to spend too much money these days on perfumes. I don't see the point in spending £60 on a perfume, when you can get a reasonably nice smelling one for a tenner. And Chloe Narcisse is one of them cheap perfumes that certainly doesn't smell cheap. I got this perfume from Downtown a while a go, I'm not quite sure how much it was but I think it was around £15 for a 30ml bottle. Which for me is a very good price compared to them £60 perfumes you can get out there!
The perfume comes in a lovely red box, with some nice big roses all over the box. I didn't actually keep the box as I didn't see the point, but some people may want to keep it on display in their bedrooms as it is a pretty box. The perfume itself comes in a nice glass bottle. It is an oval shape and then the lid is shaped like a rose. To spray the perfume you just lift off the rose lid and then you will find the gold top which you just press down on and the perfume sprays out. The bottle is really really pretty, and it looks so elegant on my dressing table unlike some perfumes you get that just look really tacky. The actual colour of the perfume is an orangey colour, but of course when it is sprayed onto your skin it doesn't actually come out orange.
So I bet your wondering how this perfume actually smells. Well it is a nice feminine smell, it's a mixture of a fruity, flowery, exotic smell! And quite frankly it is one of the nicest smelling perfumes I have owned! I personally think it is a very nice sweet summer smell, but it is not too overly sweet, and it does not smell like a 10 year olds sickly sweet really girly perfume, it is a lovely elegant smell.
When spaying this perfume, it is a strong smell but not overpowering. I just spray it on my wrists and my neck. I find that this does last all day, even though it is not as strong smelling as it is at the start you can still smell it by the end of the day.
When wearing this perfume I have had a lot of compliments, there was even one person who said to me and a group of my other friends 'someone smells really nice' and then she sniffed around and was like 'oh its you! What perfume do you use?' I was really pleased that people noticed that I smell nice, it made me feel a lot more confident, and it showed me that the perfume actually worked and other people could smell it.
Overall this perfume is a lovely perfume. It smells gorgeous (well to me it does anyway), it is a very good price, if you look around you can find it for a tenner! It is a beautiful bottle that looks very elegant, and it stays on for the whole day most of the time. I always find myself stocking up on this perfume, I guess it's my signature scent! I really like this perfume, and it's one of those products that I will buy over and over again.
When it comes to perfume, I like trying different scents and fragrances. I do have some favourites of course but I don't like to be labelled with a certain perfume. I knew many people who did that, my mum was and still is one of the many people who use Chloe's perfume (the origional version). In fact many people recognize her from the smell of it.
I got this Narcisse perfume as another gift from my lovely hubby; I had seen it previously in shops but I had never thought about buying it and trying it, so having it as a gift was a good opportunity for me to try it besides my husband bought it so he would not complain about it if it smelt bad.
Narcisse came in a upright rectangular box with the name of the perfume inscribed on the top and on the back of the box the perfumes ingredients and contents in addition to the companies address. The whole box was covered in red roses which were very bright and eye catching while the bottle was pretty simple, the cap was opaque shaped as a rose with an opening on the top showing the sprayer cap which was a metallic yellow making it look absolutely attractive.
The shape of the bottle oval which was made out of lightweight clear glass showing the beautiful colour of the perfume and the green (stem).
I opened the cap and sprayed it 3-4 times on my wrist and the perfume was very strong. The scent was all over the place and I only sprayed it on a certain area.
Now let's describe the smell. It was definitely flowery, it was very strong like I said previously powerful and surprisingly DIFFERENT than what I expected and the colour was lovely like the colour of sunset.
My first impression was a definite no, as it was very over powering and not my liking. I like powerful and strong perfumes but once I sprayed it I didn't like what I smelt so far. I was suffocated and I felt dizzy but I decided to wait for a few minutes and let the perfume settled in.
A few minutes later, the perfume was slightly fading out revealing the most beautiful flowery smell I had ever smelled.
I was completely surprised, so I learned that next time I should wait for a few minutes until the perfume infuses properly with your skin before you judge it. It did blend with my skin very well and it smelled divine.
The full bodied scent was rosy, with a high note of sweetness, the mixture of scents fuses brilliantly to deliver a real scent boost. What I liked about it is the perfect balance between the strength of the scent and the usage of the flowery note making the usage of this perfume just like magic.
You don't need to use much of it, a couple of sprays behind your ears and wrists will do the trick, and it is long lasting. I sprayed some on my dress from a distance and hanged it on the wardrobe for the night next day when I opened it the perfume was all over again!
There is no certain time and occasion; it might be a little bit strong to be worn in the morning although I had no problem with that. It works very well during the evening and with very special occasions; I can always describe this perfume as elegant, sophisticated and classy.
Although it was very powerful, I didn't sneeze or itch, my skin was perfectly happy with it but if you are using it for the first time you'd better check on a small area of your skin to see for yourself.
== I have a couple of downsides to mention ==
The perfume may stain, it did happen when I sprayed some on my neck, my neck was stained and the shirt too so be careful when using it.
The other thing is that it is slightly oily.
It can be found on major supermarkets and stores. My hubby got mine from Wilkinson's and it was the cheapest place to buy it from. You can order it online.
The available sizes are 30ml, 50ml and 100ml and the prices are between £9.99- £23.57 depending on the size of course. Look out for special offers and gift packs; I once bought the 50 ml perfume with free shower gel.

Perhaps one of the most overlooked and under rated fragrances that you can pick up for just under the £10 mark, has to be Chloe Narcisse, Eau de Toilette.
It seems to have remained very much unchanged over time, with the fragrance bottle and box looking to me, almost as it did when I first saw it on the fragrance counter many moons ago. The bottle is shaped like a narcissus in bud with the flower bud as its lid. Its boxed in a bright and feminine floral accented pink toned box, making it attractive enough to give as a gift.
Karl Largerfield the creator of Chloe Narcisse, is quoted as disliking all that is 'pompous and in excess' so perhaps that goes a little towards explaining why the fragrance has remained so unfussed with and timeless.
For a scent that had a mid 1990's launch, you might think that its out of touch with todays fragrance trends, but to me its still a good staple, of any fragrance addicts collection. After all a good mix of scents, that come within different price brackets, will be less painful to replace as the fragrances within it are used up. Selecting in this way ensures that you still have plenty of choice, for different occasions, but not every bottle will break your heart as you spritz it on.
The thing I like about Chloe Narcisse is how very wearable and long lasting it is, as an every day fragrance. At around £9.99 or so for a 30ml bottle, I feel I can splash it on all over, a la Henry Cooper.
Ok so less is sometimes more with fragrance and in terms of strength, Chloe Narcisse certainly doesn't lack power. But at under £10 a bottle, all your guilty thoughts about how much it cost to buy are quickly dispelled. I have found that this means you tend to get through it a bit quicker than you would with something that cost you more to buy, as you tend to be more generous with it.
I think that Narcisse is a very fragrant floral blend, that has rather tangy over tones to it. Its what makes the scent stand out for me. Its very feminine, but not in a pink fluffy way. It feels much more grown up than that.
As a floral fragrance I think it can be worn well during the day as it has plenty of staying power, but works equally well as an evening scent on a warm summer night. If you think of soft roses in bloom and tangy apricots, with the springtime freshness of narcissus you are heading in the right direction. Vanilla gives the scent a generous warmth and depth whilst sandalwood gives longevity.
There are other complimentary products to go with the fragrance, but I feel that Narcisse is strong enough to stand up on its own, without the need for so called fragrance layering. There are plenty of fruity bath and body products that you can use in harmony with this, that will be less expensive than buying the matching Chloe product. It offers such good value that it is fully deserving of a 5 star rating.
This is my all time favourite perfume! Its becoming a bit of a signature scent for me because each year, when i go out to smell all the new perfumes and see which one I fancy for Christmas, I nearly always come back to this one.
The major plus of this perfume is the price - I can get the 30ml bottle for under £10 and it still smells like a top price perfume in my opinion. Its got a very light, flowery smell to it that isn't at all over powering, making it perfect for every day wear. its the kind of thing that most women would like, unless you go for very strong, musky scents.
The packaging is fairly nice, with lots of beautiful colours and the bottle is very cute, with a flower bud shaped top. It gives the impresson of being an expensive perfume when it is really not.
i think this would be a perfect present too, and will probably be staying my firm favourite for a long time.
This perfume is definetely going to be a favourite of mine for a very long time! Narcisse got excellent reviews in this section and rightly so! My boyfriend bought it for me for the first time and I can see this becoming my trademark scent, something I'll always wear. Narcisse comes in a lovely bottle and very pretty packaging. But the scent itself is where this really comes into it's own. It has a beautiful rich, sweet, floral smell and there's something very sultry about it too. The scent lasts a very long time, more so than any other perfume I've worn so it's excellent value for money. You don't need to apply too much either. People have already asked about what perfume I had on and complemented me on it, so it does the job. You know those perfumes that you just wonder can anybody really smell it ?? Well that will not happen with Narcisse, and at the same time it is not overpowering at all. It reminds me of something, I can't quite put my finger on it but all I know is this smell will more than likely make you smell good enough to eat!
I've used this perfume for about 2 years. Its a really nice flowery smell without smelling like air freshener. As most of my friends and one stage or other have borrowed it I have not yet found anyone who it doesn't suit. It is relatively cheap perfume without going too cheap. The packaging is lovely especially the bottle which resembles a flower. Only a little needs to be used (even of the eau de toilette) for it too be noticeable without being overpowering and I have found that it lasts a long time. The perfume comes in the full range of shower gel, body lotion etc. I think they even produce gift sets of the products so it is ideal as a present (I think I'll have to hint strongly at my family this christmas!)
I was looking around for a nice light perfume to use and tried chloe narcisse. Its a very light perfume, not overpowering and its more floral without smelling like old ladies perfume. As well as the perfume, they sell shower gel, body lotion, handbag spray and all the usual products you would expect in a perfume range. The great thing that I have found is that many people often compliment me on how nice I smell and ask me what my perfume is. Its become known now as my perfume. Its often on offer in Boots and other toilettries shops, especially the bargain ones, so its well worth shopping around. I can usually get a small bottle for about £9.99.
Chloe Narcisse is a lovely flowery smelling perfume that is suitable for all ages. The aroma lasts for a long time and isn’t overpowering although you don’t need to use a lot. I have found this perfume to smell different on different people but I haven’t found anyone who it doesn’t suit. The perfume is fairly reasonably priced so if you are looking for a gift for a lady then this is one to look out for. It comes in a red box with gold writing and flowers on and the bottle is oval shaped with a glass flower on the top so it does look very pretty as well. They also do a range of bath accessories moisturisers and other bits all in the same aroma. Well worth the money.
