Chloe Signature Eau de Parfum
Advantages: Beautiful floral scent, amazing sillage, great lasting power, classy bottle
Disadvantages: Quite expensive - but price is what you expect for a designer fragrance
The Chloe eau de parfum is something I see as a modern classic among the female perfumes. I have loved this since the first time I tested it while browsing in an airport duty free a few years back.
The bottle, as you can see on the photo, is a simple sturdy glass rectangle with ridges, the name Chloe on it and a little bow around the neck. I think it looks classy and luxorious but understated and not showy. It really appealed to me when I first saw it, as the bow makes it feminine and pretty, but it doesn't look silly and over the top like a lot of the perfumes these days. It has a timeless look. I suppose the bottle is not that original as I find it quite similar to the Miss Dior Cherie.
After being attracted by the bottle, I hoped I would not find the actual scent a let down and I definitely did not! Chloe smells absolutely gorgeous and it is a scent I have not grown tired of. I have used it quite frequently over the last three or fours years and my mum also wears this sometimes and I also like it on her. If I had to sum up this fragrance I would say it is feminine and floral with some powderiness to it.
The notes according to BaseNotes are as follows:
Peony, Lychee, Freesia
Rose, Magnolia, Muguet
I can't really pick out the individual notes in this perfume as I feel like they have been blended or combined so well that it just comes across as one flawless fragrance, not a mix of different individual ingredients. Despite that, I would say the rose comes through quite a lot and I do see it as a rosy fragrance, but not just pure plain rose.
It is a fairly strong fragrance with very good sillage and lasting power, which makes it seem very high quality to me. Obviously it is easier to notice the sillage when you smell someone else wearing it than when you wear it yourself, and when my mum wears this the scent does waft over, and I don't have to stand right up next to her to detect any of it. When I wear it myself I can smell hints of it throughout the day especially if I spray a bit in my hair and smell it as I turn my head. It lasts extremely well throughout a whole day. Though it is strong and long lasting, it is not overpowering or overwhelming at all. It smells quite soft.
I feel like Chloe EDP is like a slightly more mature version of Viktor & Rolf's Flowerbomb. That's not to say they really smell similar - Chloe is less sweet and a bit more powdery but it has the same excellent sillage and I get a similar very feminine vibe from both. Just like Flowerbomb I can recognise Chloe instantly if I smell someone wearing it. To me Chloe smells like a scent for a strong, independent but still sensitive and girly female of any age. I love it and definitely recommend trying it.
Price wise, at Boots Chloe EDP costs £39.50 for 30 ml, £52 for 50 ml or £67 for 75ml. This is more expensive than some perfumes but roughly what I would expect from a designer fragrance and I don't find the price too off putting. It does last a long time as you don't need to top it up throughout the day.
