Before trying Pink Diamond I was a regular user of the classic Wish, and the Pink Diamond is a great follow up.
It's quite a fruity fragrance, but it is also very elegant and feminine. It's perfectly suited to a night out at a high quality restaurant, although I would say it's a bit too complex to be worn on a day-to-day basis. However, rather than this be a reflection on the scent, I think it stems from the quality of the perfume, it just comes across as a "special occasion" fragrance. This ties in with the diamond packaging which is stunning, making it a lovely gift.
It lasts beautifully, very little is required to give a heavenly aura! I would also recommend not overdoing it as it's designed to be a subtle scent, unlike some other fragrances you do not need to empty half the bottle to enjoy it! Which is an added bonus as it often carries a premium price tag.
I got this perfume a few weeks ago, and as I commented in one of my other reviews (fo Bvglari Rose essentielle) these two perfumes, to me, smell IDENTICAL! I'm not sure whether it's just that they have similar ingredients, but I think if blind folded and both spritzed infront of me I really don't think i'd tell the difference.
That said I do quite like this perfume, though for me it is a little too sweet smelling (bordering on actually smelling like candies). Also, I can't decide whether the bottle looks really glam, or really ta cky. When I first saw it, it reminded me of something you get when you're a little girl, like the barbie perfumes, it comes in a diamond looking bottle in a pink box, all a bit glitzy for my liking. However on closer inspection it does have good quality, thick glass, and it has a cute little lid with a tiny little handle :) also, I think you'll either love or hate the fact that it doesn't stand on your dresser, it kind of lays there, because of the design of the bottle. Some people might think this is cool, I feel more like it constantly looks like I knocked it over.
I'd recommend this smell for a teenager, or for a woman but only as a day perfume, it just doesn't have the body or the depth to carry it through to evening. for a more mature (but similar) scent and elegant bottle i'd go with the Bvlgari Rose
Often with perfume it is the packaging that initially attract you and then the scent decides whether you go ahead with the purchase, well this was bought me by a work colleague so neither was applicable but on both fronts this particular product is a winner.
It comes in a diamond shaped bottle which could look cheap and tacky if done poorly however that is not the case here as it is a super product and well designed and with the pink liquid inside it looks good on your dressing table. However the box is a bit gawdy for me and not something I would retain.
I would describe the fragrance as a day fragrance rather than for evening wear, it has a fruity bouquet to it which is light and very pleasant. Now that the weather is improving with some nice sunny weather it will go well with summer dresses and light floaty clothing styles, the sort of scent I would wear if going to a BBQ. It lasts well on your skin as well so oveall a good scent to have around to opt for every so often.
Having not bought it myself the price guide I have is based on an advert next to the review of £26.68 for a 50ml Eau de Toilette.
Chopard Pink Diamond Wish:
*** Introduction ***
Recently I received a free mini bottle of Vivienne Westwood Boudoir which I loved and it came with a mini bottle of Chopard Pink Diamond Wish. The bottle alone warmed me to it and I was surprised, (given how fussy I am about perfume), that I liked the smell too.
*** Chopard: A Family Firm ***
I had heard of Chopard before but I didn't really know much about them as a company so I decided to do a bit of research.
It seems Chopard was set up as a luxury watch makers by Louis-Ulysse Chopard 1860 when he was just 24. It seems that the company is based in Geneva and was run by the Chopard family until 1963 when it was sold to the goldsmith and watchmaker, Karl Scheufele. The business is now run by the Scheufele family.
Since 1975 the company has increased its range by adding ladies watches and jewellery, (mainly diamonds and very beautiful), accessories and perfumes amongst other things. Chopard have boutiques right across America.
The wikipedia page for Chopard is full of information about the firm and their website, www.chopard.com, is beautiful to browse around.
*** Packaging/Appearance ***
Personally I feel the box looks very cheap and tacky. It is made of shiny pink cardboard with branding on the front and information on the back. It feels cheap and doesn't hint at the beauty within. I guess this is a good example of "don't judge a perfume by its box".
The bottle however makes up for any inadequacies on behalf of the box. I would however like a nice box and a beautiful bottle but to quote Mr Jagger "you can't always get what you want"! The bottle is clear glass and shaped like a cut diamond with a sort of handle at the top which is silver coloured. The bottle has no flat bottom to stand it on and instead rests on one of the sides of the "diamond". It is very simple but very pretty too. The perfume inside is a lovely soft pink colour and again it looks very pretty.
I have to admit I find getting the lid off quite tricky but maybe that's just the size and the bigger bottles may be easier. I do like the little bottles though as they take up less room and I don't wear perfume often, besides little things are cute!
*** Smell ***
In the bottle this perfume has a light, fruity smell and I liked it immediately. As soon as I put it on it becomes quite strong and I can smell pears and citrus. It quickly calms down and becomes quite light and floral. After a little longer you get woody almost spicy scents coming through which balance the fruit and the floral scents perfectly.
I think this is perfect for daytime and summer wear as it is not too heavy and is fruity and floral.
Doing a bit more research, (thank goodness for the net), I have discovered that this perfume has top notes of tangerine, neroli and pear, middle notes of rose, acanthus, apricot and freesia and heavy base notes of amber, sandalwood and musk. Ha! I seem to have quite a good nose. Lol.
The smell lasts all day but would probably need reapplying before heading out for the evening.
*** Price and Availability ***
www.cheapsmells.com has Pink Diamond Wish for £14.00 and its RRP is £25.00, (for a 30ml bottle). It is stocked on lots of perfume sites so shop around for the best deal.
*** In Conclusion ***
I really like this perfume and when I can resist wearing Boudoir I will wear this instead and I may put a full size bottle on my pressie list. I recommend anyone who likes fresh, floral and fruity smells to try this.
