This is the first Dior perfume I have had to try and looking at the prices I would say it is definitely not worth the money.
This is a new fragrance brought out in 2012 and comes in an understated plainish bottle. The perfume itself is floral - though I cannot in fact detect specific notes of either the rose, jasmine or musk of which it is supposed to be comprised.
It is definitely floral and reasonably light in character. It does not smell cheap at all and has what I would call an expensive note to it. However it does not have anything for me that sets it apart from dozens of other fragrances (many of which are much cheaper) and although I do not mind using it I would not be mad keen to have it again - even at a much cheaper price.
It is a nice enough fragrance on the whole, but when paying top prices I would expect something a little more distinctive and memorable.
Not one I would bother with again.
When first put on there is a strong floral smell which lasts for about 3 hours or so so it does have some longevity and I am not completely against this fragrance but weighing up the aroma against the cost I would definitely not be able to recommend it.
I am glad I only purchased the small 1ml sample spray to try. If you wish to get one yourselves they are currently selling them on ebay for around £3.
===Would I Recommend?===
No not at that price.
When you buy a new perfume they often give you samples of other recently launched fragrances so I was lucky enough to receive a sample of the Dior Addict Eau Sensuelle as a freebie. I have not experienced the original Dior Addict so this review is purely on the 2012 Eau Sensuelle as I have nothing to compare it to. I love having samples but part of the perfume experience is picking up a weighty bottle and enjoying the design of the vessel. It is not just about having a quick squirt from a tiny plastic bottle that can hardly fit in your hand.
==Price and availability==
This perfume jumped on the market with a massive price tag just like the other Dior perfumes. The bottle comes as the EDT version and for 100ml you will pay around £70, 50ml for £50 and they also do a nifty 20ml version for £35.00. If, you would rather sample the perfume before buying then you can either ask at your Dior counter for freebies or buy one from Ebay, they normally go for about 99p and you get around 5ml of product.
Francois Demachy is the perfumer behind Dior and he created this blend in 2012. Eau Sensuelle is supposed to be feminine, sensual and floral. As I only have the sample, I can't really describe the bottle although I have seen it in the shops. The bottle is the same design as the regular Addict version. The bottle has an interesting lock design on the top, with a purple metal diffuser and a lilac tinted glass body. The design of the bottle is feminine and self assured. The sample I have is made from plastic and it has a small push down button that only allows a dribble out of the bottle, it is very annoying but I have yet to find a brilliant sample!
The perfume composition is very familiar sounding and it smells pleasant but unremarkable. It is one of those fragrances that everyone will love but no one will remember. The top notes of the perfume are rose and it has a lovely floral aroma with a heart of jasmine. The jasmine and rose work well and provide a refreshing balance that smells light, refreshing and sensual. The perfume base is musk and cedar. The base is creamy with a wooded earthiness that rounds the perfume off well. As you can see, there is nothing special about this and it is a very simple, uncomplicated scent.
==How it lasted and how I found it ==
This is a summery, feminine scent that will appeal to a lot of women. This is a perfume that will suit unadventurous women and those who do not often wear perfume, it's refreshing and very 'natrual' smelling. There is no power to it and it smells pleasant but it carries no charm. If I had to make an analogy, this perfume represents your comfortable day dress that you throw on in summer, its pretty and delicate but it it's not sexy and you would not want to go on a night out in it, it is not your sexy black dress!
The perfume wears well, it's not the most powerful to start with but it does last well, you cannot knock the quality of Dior, they really do know how to make perfumes, this perhaps is just a little on the tame side for me. I can imagine this smelling really good as a body spray and a shower gel; it smells so refreshing and clean. The perfume is ageless, anyone can wear it as its such a clear crisp scent, it will work for anyone of any age.
I can't say I was disappointed with this fragrance as it was free and only a sample but I would not be spending my hand earned cash on the full version. It is a very pleasant scent and it will certainly appeal to the masses however I like something a little bit more distinctive. It is however made with high quality perfume essence oils as it has good lasting power and you only need a small amount to have the desired effect. It is not a powerful fragrance though in the first place, it is feminine and relaxed and would suit any female who liKes pleasant floral perfumes.
