There are certain smells that just remind us of people or places. For example the smell of petrol reminds me straight away of an old boyfriend - he was a mechanic and smelt like it all the time but for me the one smell that is instantly noticed by my nose is this 'Dior Pure Poison'. My mom has worn this perfume for as long as I can remember so its a scent I grew up with and that I always knew I would start wearing myself someday - when I could afford a bottle anyway hehe. I was overjoyed a few months back to have saved enough points on one of my freebie sites to get a bottle of this and I have been using it ever since - and I think I will contiue to forever!

Dior describe this perfume as 'innocent yet seductive & a mysterious scent that women and men alike wont be able to resist' - a fabulous description in my opinion as wearing this does make me feel very seductive, its just one of those fragrances!

The Bottle:

The bottle is my opinion is simply gorgeous. Its a very simple yet classic design that people will instantly recognise - if your a perfume lover like me anyway and this design goes to show you dont need a lot of bright colours and large lettering to make a stunning impression. The bottle is mainly a lovely irredescant pearl colour and is actually quite chunky despite it being quite small. The bottom is large and circular and reminds me of a flower bulb for some reason as it does have indents all over it - Im not sure if thats what this is supposed to represent but it does look very similar. Around the top of the bottle is a small black ring which leads up to the smaller circular lid on top - Ive read the black ring can be removed and worn as an actual ring but Ive personally never bothered taking it off the bottle. Under the lid is the usual push down nozzle to release the perfume - the lid seem to be very secure and has never fallen off when Im carrying this around loose in my bag - although its not so stiff you will find it hard to remove. The weight of this bottle means it is easy to display as it wont keep falling off your shelf/dressing table but the weight doesnt mean this is difficult to transport as the bottle itself is actually quite small. A gorgeous bottle that look brilliant in my bedroom and is very practical as well.

The Scent:

Im pretty rubbish when it comes to noticing the individual notes in a perfume so I did do some digging around the net to find this list of ingredients:

Top Notes: Orange, Madarin, Bergamot & Jasmine.
Middle Notes: Orange Blossom & Gardenia.
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Cedar & White Amber.

I have to be honest if I had read that list before actually smelling this I wouldnt have bothered buying it I dont think. The list makes it sound as if this will be a run of the mill citrus/floral perfume when it reality it is so much more - it has loads more depth than that list makes out! Now to be honest Id actually say the middle notes are far stronger in this perfume than any others because this is a mainly floral offering - I cant detect any of the citrus scents personally so maybe the middle notes are much stronger. The Orange Blossom & Jasmine Id guess are the 2 strongest scents straight away and all through the wearing of this one really - this as you can imagine smells very floral but its a heavier floral than normal with the musky tones making it much heavier and a much more seductive scent to wear.

It does start off a little light and airy for my tastes - this is coming from someone who hates floral perfume normally. But when the base notes kick in - after about 2 minutes on my skin - this becomes a much darker and heavier perfume which is just the kind I like. The Sandalwood warms this fragrance right up yet the Amber manages to keep it from being too heavy by offering a very slight sweetness right at the end. It has a lot of different levels for just one perfume but I have to say I adore them all - theres no part of wearing this scent that I dont like.

Staying Power:
Probably the best of any perfume Ive ever used which is a massive thing for me to write! This lasts at least 10 hours on my skin which is much longer than anything Ive used before. I dont have to reapply this all the time so my bottle is still more or less full and Ive owned it for nearly 2 months now and wear it all the time. So that justifies the cost a little bit I reckon.

Age:
Thats a tough one as Id say this perfume would probably be more suited for mid 20's and upwards. But having said that Im 19 and I wear this regularly so I guess its just down to taste more than anything - try before you buy and you wont be disappointed.

Day or Night? Summer or Winter?
Id say this perfume is more suited to winter wear because of its heaviness but I dont see any reason why most people couldnt wear this in summer time - I just think it would give me a migraine because its a little too heavy for summer for me. And without a shadow of a doubt this is a night perfume - its far too strong for anyone to pull off in daytime!!

Cannot recommend highly enough. My mom has converted me to this and hopefully my review will make some others want to try this scent out - dont look at the price tag, everything else about this is so great it does make it worth the money in the long run.
