About five years ago I went on holiday for a weekend with a really good friend of mine. I noticed immediately that her perfume was absolutely gorgeous and really strong (in a good way). I borrowed it one day, and could still smell it lingering on my clothes a couple of days later. I had to have it, so I went online and bought it - Christian Dior's Pure Poison.

I managed to buy 100ml for £56 online which is VERY cheap compared to shops where you can expect to pay as much as £80 if not more. It is available in 30ml, 50ml or 100ml. The 30ml size is the cheapest but still around £30 which is a lot more expensive than many other perfumes in 30ml size.

The perfume comes in a pretty purple box with the Dior logo on. It looks really classy yet girly. The bottle itself is short and wide, a bit like an apple shape although it's not intended to be (unlike Red Delicious etc from DKNY). It is a pearlised white colour with 'Pure Poison' and 'Dior' elegantly written in black font on it. The lid is shaped like a white pearl. The bottle looks very elegant and classy, looks lovely on your dressing table. It is quite heavy though, so it's not one you'd want to carry in your handbag!

When I first used the perfume I found it strongly floral, but as it wears off and settles down, I find it is quite musky. It isn't musky like a man's aftershave would be, this perfume is distinctly feminine, but it is a strong, musky scent and very sophisticated.

The main notes are jasmine, Orange Flower, Natural Florals, and White Amber Musk. For me, the musk is what stands out the most when the perfume actually settles, but the florals definitely stand out more when it is first sprayed.

This perfume definitely has lasting power - you can spray a few small squirts and expect to smell it clearly for a whole day and evening, and still have a subtle scent lingering for another day or so. This is a gorgeous perfume, it is strong, bold and sophisticated which means it is perfect for a day fragrance as well as an evening fragrance. The only downside is the price!
