Advantages: Different that high-street fragrance, not too expensive

Disadvantages: Not sure on the staying power

This is the 'other half' to the Christian Lacroix Rouge, not wanting to leave the fellas out of the loop, avon are selling the men's line of frangrance as well.

I ordered a tester of this from my good friend who just happens to be an avon rep. I was looking for a little something to treat my lovely fella for putting up with me being a pain in the proverbial lately!

He is very much a man's man and definitely doesn't like anything too 'fancy', he's got expensive but simple taste so I thought this fitted the bill quite nicely, designer label in a simple bottle and not too expensive for me either.

The 75ml bottle of eau de toilette costs around £20 in the avon catalogue but depending which campaign you get, they sometimes throw in a wash bag and/or the shower gel free with the fragrance (worth keeping an eye out for if you're giving this as a gift).

The fragrance comes in a nice and simple dark grey rectangular glass bottle, with a rectangular lid. The motif on the front is said to have been inspired by a design on a bull fighters cape Mr Lacroix was given as a gift which all sounds very masculine. I have no doubt that this will look ab fab on the bathroom shelf (pardon the pun).

The scent itself is described as aquatic vetiver with faint spice notes. It has top notes of saffron and ginger, middle notes of cardamom and base notes of cedar, vetiver and musk.

It smells fresh, watery and there are hints of green grass and musk in there. The ginger gives it a little edge of spice and the woods give it a bit of warmth and depth. The watery scent and vetiver gives it a light and modern edge and it reminds me a bit of the Paul Smith line of fragrances for men.

It's a pleasantly light fragrance which isn't overpowering but still very masculine. It's fresh, young and different with a spicy warm edge of sophistication. The only downside is that it isn't very strong, I don't know what the lasting power will be but i don't think it will be an all-dayer.

Summary: I hope he likes it as much as I do!
