Tumulte, by Christian Lacroix.... it's a strong, overtly sensual name for a strong, overtly sensual scent. In the red and gold packaging, you are first stricken by the rounded heaviness of the bottle. It even LOOKS heavy.
The second this scent touches your skin it seems to bind to you like latex. It is a sweet, rich, floral and cloying scent, a little like lilies. Not a fragrance for little girls. Not a fragrance for blondes.
It conjures images of dark, silent Frenchmen in tuxedoes. Red lipstick and smoky eyes. Apply too much and it may conjure images of raddled old party girls, besmeared in last decade's make up, wearing last decade's too tight top, and carrying an armory of last decade's unused-yet-unforgotten contraceptives.
But .... I like it. It is too blatant to be sophisticated, too sweet to be classic, and simply too damn strong to be understated, but as last decade's raddled old party girl, I'll slather it on with wild abandon.
