If a fresh burst of sweet fragrance is what you're looking for, with a price that doesn't cause a hole in your pocket - look no further! The celebrity - singer and performer's line of perfumes has a variety of scents but this is one is my favourite. Although it is easy to get caught up deciding which celebrity's line to choose as there are so many (Beyonce, Britney, Sarah Jessica Parker's to name a few!), my experience with Christina Aguilera's perfume has restored my faith in believing it is actually worth it sometimes to invest in a celebrity fragrance, this one was not over priced and the value for money was spot on.
Tried it on via a sample in-store, debated whether it was worth buying as it did not smell very special initially. Once the fragrance settled into my skin I became more aware of the different notes of the perfume which I shall expand on later, Sniffed some coffee beans and tried the other fragrances by Channel, Gucci & Prada - these smelt better in my opinion and stronger but were MUCH more expensive obviously!
***The perfume itself***
The fragrance simply wears the singers name and doesn't have a particular name for itself so you can just recognise it from the bottle. Researching further, the packaging of the bottle design which is quite seductively shaped as a curvy woman which Christina successfully represents, sporting a lace dress (created by Marcel Roches for Mae West). The dress design on the bottle is supposed have some kind of reminder of Marilyn Monroe's style (which Aguilera reflected quite well in her movie Burlesque). It really highlights one of her feminine views which is all about power, sexuality and glamour.
The top notes are mandarin, peach and blueberry followed by heart notes of jasmine, lilly and ripe plum. The base notes are musk, amber, sandalwood and vanilla. Personally, I do not find these individual scents very obvious, but some people who must have amazing sense of smell can tell- it's all a great blend for me! Size wise you can buy in either a 15ml, 30ml or 50ml bottle. There are also matching products available such as moisturiser, bath stuff and body spray. I personally do not think a 15ml bottle would last me very long which brings me on to my next point!
***Wearability- Who, how often, where and when?!***
Although it smells really gorgeous and isn't too strong on smelling deadly sweet (like Britney's fragrance Fantasy), this refreshing scent is not at all long lasting, I feel the need to reapply it after a few hours which isn't always possible unless I take it with me for a long event in a small dispenser bottle, I feel like I am wasting a lot by spraying it, or whether it is due to the fact I get used to the smell because usually others can still smell it and some people prefer a subtle hint that you are wearing something rather than tonnes of it - like that lovely breeze you get when someone wearing nice perfume walks past!
I don't think there is an age limit or certain occasion wearing this would be restricted too! It is classy and will be suitable for all ages, and be classy enough for any occasion - you can never smell too nice for casual anyway! It's mostly a daytime fragrance for me, because it wears out by the evening if you are out all day.
Not a huge fan of hers, but this fragrance is worth it if you want something different, affordable to wear on daily casual basis. The 30ml bottle lasted me a few months but I sprayed it sparingly.
I don't rightly understand why almost every female celebrity, artist or actress seems to want to produce a perfume under their own names, and I must admit, a lot of them, to me at least, smell like no more than some toxic alcohol disinfectant that burns up to back of your throat when you smell it... But when I received this for Christmas, last year from my sister-in-law, I decided to give it a chance, and was actually pleasantly surprised. Whilst Christina Aguilera has had several perfumes, including another under her own name, this is her first with Procter & Gamble.
It came packaged in a tall, cream-coloured, narrow box with a black lace pattern around both top and bottom, and simply "Christina Aguilera" in a red, italic, French-style font, across the centre. The ingredients are listed on the back; I won't list them here, but in short, I studied A-Level Chemistry a few years back, and even I struggled with most of these compounds (More on this later). The bottle also has the same lace pattern around it, embossed onto the clear glass. And whilst it looked chic and sophisticated on the box, I can't say the same for the bottle; I don't know why, I just don't like it. The general hourglass shape of the bottle is pretty, though, and the tiny black bow around the neck sets it off, perfectly.
Anyway, back to those bewildering ingredients... I recognised the obvious Alcohol, Aqua, Parfum, and Citronellol, which for those who don't know, smells faintly of roses and is used mostly in perfumes and insect repellents! (I don't recommend using this for the latter, though; one spray may be enough to smell nice, but enough to keep those bloomin' midges off you will most likely scare away all other forms of wildlife too, and humankind, because the smell will be more overpowering than even the fragrance counter at Debenhams!) Just as a side note; some people are allergic to Citronellol, so if you haven't worn perfume before; let this serve as your warning.
As for the fragrance itself; whilst I can't define the different notes or tell you anything technical, what I can say is this: it is sweet, uncomplicated and really quite pleasant. I can distinguish a hint of vanilla, as well as what I believe to be Jasmine, though most other things are mixed in together, and there's really no hope of me telling what they are. It's almost a combination of fruit and floral together, though not in an overpowering way.
It's great for going out in, though the one part that lets this fragrance down significantly is its staying power; it really is weak, and so it's worth taking the bottle with you to give you a refreshing boost during the evening. I'd also say it's a fairly sophisticated fragrance, and would be suitable for everyday wear as well as at work.
I've not ever received any comments from my other half when I've worn it, but this is almost to be expected from him... My mother, on the other hand, fell in love with it instantly, and has asked if I'd get her some come her birthday! Sorted!
I'm not really a perfumey-sort of girl; I prefer my fragrances in cans in deodorant form, as they seem to have more exciting variations, and the ability to last an entire day without needing to respray myself every couple of hours, not to mention the antiperspirant. Thus, I'm only now coming to about halfway down the bottle, 7-8 months on. I'm not sure if I'd buy it myself to use, but should I be given it again, it would certainly not go to waste.
The bottle size I have is 75ml, which is significantly larger than what's advertised in the £18-27 price range, and I'm guessing it would cost more around the £35 mark. This, in my head seems expensive, seeing as I can get deodorants that work better and last longer for a measly few pounds, but for an Eau de Parfum, it does seem relatively cheap, which is only fair, considering the amount you'd have to use should you want to wear it every day, and stay smelling fresh and lovely...
I love going to the perfume section of Debenhams, in autumn time last year I bought a bottle of Christina Aguilera Eau De Parfum and I am just coming to the end of the bottle. I chose this perfume because I am a bit of a Christina Aguilera fan and I liked the look of the bottle. After having a bit of a sniff of the tester bottle on the shelf, I decided to pick it up and give it a try.
This bottle has a lovely, feminine bottle. It has a bit of sex appeal to it as it has a lacy, classy look to it and has black lace and flowers printed onto it. This bottle is tall and long and slopes on a kind of hour glass shape, it looks really feminine and pretty and looks really nice sitting on my shelf.
This scent is made up of the following:
Lily, peony, plum and jasmine
Peach and blackcurrant
Vanilla, musk and sandalwood
What I Thought
I love this perfume, it has a lovely floral and feminine scent to it that is really versatile and can be wore on any occasion.
I find that this scent is not too overpowering and has a really light and fresh scent to it. This perfume has a bit of a fruity scent to it and is really nice. I find that some perfumes, especially heavy, strong ones, give me headaches, but I can wear this one daily without having any bother.
This perfume lingers really nicely when I wear it, but it still has really good staying power, I find that when I wear it, I do not need to re apply it after work or in the evening, one application is enough to do me throughout the day. I think that this makes the bottle last way longer because I don't have to constantly re apply it and use it all up.
I have been complemented lots of times when I was wearing this perfume and people have noticed how nice it is on me in the past, a few of the ladies I work with have bought this scent for themselves and their daughters because they have smelt it on me and liked it.
Price and Availability
You can buy a 50ml bottle of this perfume from Debenhams for around £20, I think that this is a great price for this perfume and I usually look out for it when there is sales or 20% day off days to get a bit of a bargain. I think that this is a good price to pay for such a versatile scent and will definitely repurchase it when my bottle has run completely done.
I think that this is a great perfume and I would definitely recommend it. It is reasonably priced, can be wore on any occasion and smells great. Overall I would give this perfume 5 out of 5 stars.
*also on ciao under lorrainek90
I bought this scent as I sprayed a tester bottle of it and I liked it. I paid £18.99 for a 30ml gift set of this scent. I received the 30ml bottle of perfume, a 50ml tube of body lotion and a clutch bag.
The perfume is what I would describe as a fruity floral. It smells nice, very feminine and fresh. The initial notes are very fruity to begin with. The top note (main note) is blackberry which gives the perfume an edge. The middle notes compliment the top notes and the bottom notes (end notes) are a little musky, which actually helps the scent to settle.
It smells quite sophisticated and it's not too sweet either so I think more mature women could get away with wearing this. The only downside to the perfume is it's staying power. After around two hours the scent completely disappears with hardly any trace of it left behind. I find that this scent needs topping up far too often, which results in the 30ml bottle fast disappearing!!!! I suppose you could "layer" the scent with the body lotion but what's the point if the perfume is too weak?
The bottle is lovely and the perfume itself is lovely. However, it's too weak, it needs to be more long lasting.
This scent has been around for a few years now so you can probably pick up a bottle for a cheap price now.
Worth a try.
I have to admit that I'm not usually a fan of celebrity perfumes as I often think that it is just another gimmick from which they can make yet more money without putting in any real effort. I think that they majority of celebrity perfumes smell like someone has hastily mixed a selection of fragrances without putting any thought into it at all and for this reason I would rather clean my toilet with most of them with the exception of two. The first being Kylie Minogue's Darling and the second being Christina Aguilera.
I received this perfume as a gift from my mum earlier this month and I admit that I was sceptical at first but then pleasantly surprised.
The perfume is presented in a tall bottle, the shape of which is supposed to represent that of the curvaceous, female body. The bottle is made from clear glass and printed on the front of the bottle is a black lace design and the name of the perfume, which is simply Christina Aguilera. Around the neck of the bottle is a small black ribbon tied into a bow and above this is the lid. It's quite a pretty bottle which I would say is on par with other celebrity perfumes.
A light press on the nozzle releases a fragrant spray of the perfume which initially smells over powering with hints of Jasmine and what I can only describe as an alcohol type smell that you find with some anti-bacterial alcohol hand gels. However once the fragrance has settled on my skin I can then smell so much more. Gone is the hint of alcohol, replaced by a soft fruity, yet floral scent that is mildly musky and has a gorgeous touch of vanilla (my favourite) which is in no way over powering but beautifully subtle.
Some light research revealed that this perfume actually contains Blueberry, Peach and Mandarin, Lily of the Valley, Jasmine, Peony and Plum as well as Musk, Amber, Sandal Wood and Vanilla, however in my opinion not all of these are obvious scents.
I think that this is quite a sensual, sexy perfume most suitable to be worn in the evenings for nights out on the town; however it is the type of scent that can be worn all year round and doesn't seem to be suited to one particular season.
Unfortunately this is not a long lasting fragrance and as lovely as the scent is, I have found that it fades quickly and after only a couple of hours it is almost gone completely, so needs to be re-applied frequently to maintain the fragrance.
***Price and Availability***
Like most celebrity perfumes, Christina Aguilera is at the lower end of the price range and this fragrance is currently available at Superdrug £19.99 for 30ml or at Boots where it is on off for £19 for 50ml. However, prices do vary and it can be found for much more or less when searching the internet for it.
I'm surprised to say it but I do actually really love the smell of this perfume, however its inability to last for longer than just a couple of hours really lets it down. I probably would still recommend it to a friend and would also purchase it again as it is cheap enough that I don't mind putting it in my handbag on a night out.
This is a very seductive and rich, fruity Oriental perfume for women - Christina Aguilera has definitely made a fragrance that oozes sexiness!
I had seen reviews on this perfume but none of them really painted a perfect picture of how lovely this fragrance is. I disagree with other reviews and believe that this fragrance really does last all day and you really do not need much of it. It is strong but not overpowering and is a definite favourite of mine! My boyfriend thinks it smells gorgeous and always tells me how lovely I smell when I wear this.
I don't often wear this fragrance in the day, I always try and keep this one for the evening as I think it is far too sexy for day wear!!!
I think Oriental is a word that definitely describes this perfume and it is a fragrance unlike any other I have tried. I paid around £24 for a 30ml bottle which I thought was excellent for a perfume that had only just come out! It has since decreased in price which makes it even more appealing!!! The bottle is absolutely beautiful with a lace effect all over the glass, including a little satin bow around the neck.
Even with its rich smell I think this perfume would be suited more to younger women.
I have since tried other Christina Aguilera perfumes but none of them are half as good as this one.
When buying a larger bottle of this I found it lasted much longer than other perfumes I own and the bigger the bottle the more money you save.
A perfect perfume for any sexy woman!!!!
I am not usually one to go in for celebrity scents, something about them leads me to think they are not going to be as good as 'traditional' perfumes. I did however pick up the original Christina Aguilera scent a few years ago and have been repurchasing ever since so I thought this deserved a write up!
The Christina Aguilera scent comes in a hour glass shaped bottle, although the bottom part is wider then the nape of the bottle. It has a clear plastic lid which I have to say doesn't really sit on the bottle too well, it comes off very easily. The front of the bottle has a black lace pattern on it which includes some black flowers and at the bottom Christina Aguilera is written also in black. The bottle itself doesn't look expensive, but then it doesn't look overly cheap either so it is a nice middle ground.
I purchased 50ml of this perfume last time around and it cost me approximately £19.00 from Boots, although it can often be found cheaper in the perfume shop and the fragrance store etc. Compared to my usual perfumes this is actually incredibly affordable and I think it is a good price considering how much I like the scent.
The scent is what I would call more of an evening scent. It is a rather deep scent and I would feel out of place wearing it in the daytime in the summer! The perfume contains top notes of fruit sorbet, tangerine and blackcurrant tea, heart notes of jasmine, peony and plum and base notes of musk, amber and vanilla. Oddly enough I think the most noticable scents I can pick up are actually the base notes which is why I find this perfume heavy and not light enough for daytime. Although it does contain floral and fruit scents I find these fade into the background really compared to the musk, amber and vanilla. This isn't necessarily a negative observation as I really like the fragrance, however if you read the description on the website and think you are getting more fruity perfume it might be a tad misleading!
The one downside to this perfume is the longevity of it. I find that I need to apply a few more squirts to get a noticable scent then I would with other perfumes. This perfume also needs reappying after two or three hours so although it is cheaper I do find that i run through bottles of this more quickly.
I give it 4/5 because it smells lovely and is an affordable perfume, although it would be nice if it lingered longer on the skin!
Christina Aguilera fragrance contains top notes of delicious exotic fruit sorbet, sparkling tangerine and mouth-watering blackcurrant tea. Giving the energy to reach for the stars and have the world at your feet. Heart notes of jasmine, peony and plum reflect Christina's love of girly glamour, encouraging you to celebrate your femininity. Meanwhile, lingering base notes of musk, amber, precious woods mixed with the creamy vanilla add a seductive edge that dares you to be sexy, whilst resinous notes like amber evoke feelings of sensuality. The ultimate accessory, this fragrance is like a shot of self-confidence empowering you to take inspiration from Christina. So, embrace your femininity and you'll feel truly irresistible.
This is the debut fragrance by Christina Aguilera released in 2008. I'm not usually impressed with celebrity perfumes, I find them a bit silly and usually just end up being 'wearable' you never find anything special with them, and there are far too many. Saying that, after I recieved this as birthday present I thought I'd at least have to give it a go. This fragrance is supposed to capture old-style Hollywood glamour. The fragrance claims to be uplifting, sensual and feminine.
I really like the bottle. I've seen people say it's trashy, but the design is a pretty lace black floral print which I find is very appealing, and the bottle is a curvy shape. The top looks quite cheap, it's just your standard plastic top but you can't always win.
I got my bottle in 50ml but I think you can get 75ml's and small sample bottles which I'd recommend if you want to try this fragrance.
Top notes: an exotic fruity sorbet with notes of mandarin and intense blackcurrant.
Heart notes: peony, jasmine, stephanotis and plum
Base notes: amber, vanilla, and musk
I thought this would be a very exotic perfume, but everything was very subtle. I could pick up a tangerine smell and a little bit of blackcurrent. It was nothing too heavy or strong, it smelt really pretty and delicate and I didn't find it too fruity, I found it perfect, it's quite comforting and lovely. Although I think this fragrance was targetted at 16-25 year olds I think it would be sophisticated enough for an older lady. After a while the heart notes creep in and the perfume gets quite sensual and refreshing. You can pick up the hint of vanilla and it's very pleasant but the whole fragrance blends together well and stays quite subtle. It's kind of citrusy and a perfect summer scent. It's definately not overpowering it's very deliciate, it fades very quickly which is it's one problem.
After a short time the perfume comes barely unrecognisable so you will have to keep spraying throughout the day as I find it only lasts around an hour at the most. Which is actually not too much of a problem because it's relatively cheap for a fragrance and a spray goes a long way. The bottle lasts a very long time.
I am quite the fan of the scent, I love how delicate and refreshing the scent is, I think it's beautiful. I don't think it's quite 'special' enough to be a signature scent but it's fun to wear for a change. I don't think it nesessarily has to be a summer scent, I think it's wearable for all seasons and very suitable for day wear as it's very sutble yet you might want to wear something muskier at night. I recommend this perfume to anyone looking for a fun new scent to try. It's one of the few celebrity scents that hasn't turned out to be a complete waste of time.
You can purchase this fragrance from Boots for £18 which is quite the bargain.

CHRISTINA AGUILERA is the first perfume release by the singer under Proctor and Gamble [She had several releases under the fragrance name 'Xpose' - which never received a official launch AND she released another self named one with a German company with a green bottle].
I find this fragrance a real struggle to describe as it has such a short life and is extremely close to the skin: I can't separate most of the listed individual notes as a result, so it just blends into one big jumble on my skin.
I find the fruit notes the strongest on me, but they are sweet and blend together too well. The plum and blueberry are the only notes that I can separate.
The florals notes could be anything; the top notes dominate everything else. If I constantly sniff my wrist and really pay attention I can just about single out the jasmine, but the florals are underdeveloped as a whole. What I did find easy to detect is a tea note [which raises this from one star to two stars].
The base isn't really apparent - the vanilla-soaked amber and creamy sandalwood are very similar to the fruity jumble.

Mandarin, peach, blueberry, jasmine, lily of the valley, peony, plum, musk, amber, sandalwood and vanilla.

I like the old time glamour of the clear glass bottle - it's modelled after the classic hourglass silhouette.
The bottle is embossed with a black lace pattern which does look lovely in the print ads, but it does look cheap and tacky close up.

Other buying considerations

The staying power is very poor, it wears like a cheap body spray rather then a EDP. After one hour I have to press my wrist to my nose to be able to smell anything.
It is easy to wear and inoffensive to my work colleagues, so it is a good choice for an every day perfume as long as you don't mind constantly 'freshening up'. I don't think it is a good choice for nights out; It's 'quiet' and you'd need to carry a bottle round for re-freshening it.
As well as being easy to wear, it can also be worn all year round; The fruits and tea are refreshing in the heat, whilst everything is [non-cloyingly] sweet, which provides comfort in colder weather.

Overall I find CHRISTINA AGUILERA very uninspired and safe - there's nothing individual about this fragrance, nothing to make it stand out from the crowd. We've all got these notes already with other fragrances.
I wear fragrance for the way they make me feel or as a confidence booster, but this doesn't provoke any feelings, provide confidence or stir any memories for me. I found this very disappointing, after having heard so many good things about it.
I think that it would be a safe gift choice for someone, as the fragrance is largely ageless and is easy to wear and none of the notes are strong enough to be disagreeable.

[There is also meant to be a 15ml EDP and a 150ml spray deodorant available, but I've never come across these].
The 75ml bottle has become hard to find, but if you shop around you'll be able to buy the 50ml bottle for under £20.
There is currently a gift set available for £20. It contains a 30ml bottle of the perfume, a 50ml tube of fragranced body lotion and a black/silver lace clutch bag.
I grew up with the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. I was in my teens when they both came on to the music scene and as I got older, they both released perfume lines so naturally I ended up with them both. Christina Aguilera's was at the top of my Christmas list when it came out.
Christina Aguilera's self named perfume was the first in her range though she has released 2 further perfumes since this one. The perfume is still readily available in shops and online and it comes in two sizes - 50ml and 75ml which are priced at £20.99 and £26.99 respectively.
The box for the perfume is one which is very sophisticated and the first thing I thought when I received it was that this was not necessarily a scent which was being aimed at teenagers; the style of packaging says to me that this perfume is for a young woman; a determined woman who is sexy and independent. The box looks as though it is covered in black lace with black flowers printed over the top of it. In the middle is a very creamy beige which is plain aside from "Christina Aguilera" written in swirly red font. It looks very much like handwriting.
Inside the box is the perfume itself and the perfume bottle is lovely. It is definately one that should be on display on your dressing table. The bottle is tall and curvy - it looks like the silhouette of a woman. On the bottle is the same black net print with flowers over the top and then at the bottom there is a clear space where "Christina Aguilera" is printed again, this time in black but in the same handwritten style of font. At the top of the bottle, around the neck is a little black piece of ribbon tied in a bow and then at the very top is a clear lid covering a silver spray nozzle.
One big plus for me with this perfume is that you can see the liquid of the perfume through the bottle and it is a rosy beige colour. I like that you can see the perfume because you know how much you are using!
Scent wise, this is a sexy and sultry scent. It is made up of the notes of fruit sorbet, tangerine and blackcurrent. The heart notes are jasmine, peony and plum and lastly the base notes are amber, musk, vanilla and wood. The scenst are perfect and compliment each other wonderfully. Whenever I wear this scent I can always pick out the jasmine and vanilla alonside the fruit sorbet and blackcurrent. I have never been able to pck out the tangerine. It is definately an impowering scent and I think the notes were picked out to evoke this feeling. I always feel more confident when wearing this perfume though I suppose that is mind over matter. It is definately sexy and sensual.
It is one of the scents that would be perfect for wearing when you go to the office and you have a big meeting and need a little confidence boost.
Unfortunately I have never found this perfume to last longer than three hours before disappearing off of my skin completely and the need for a reapplication. I always find myself wearing this scent more in the winter than the summer.
I do recommend this perfume, even though it is a slightly more expensive than the Britney Spears range (especially considering it has been out a good 5 years now). The perfume bottle is gorgeous and the scent of the perfume is beautiful but it is let down by its staying power.
Im not a big fan of celebrity perfumes, in fact this is the only one i actually own, but of the others i've smelled im generally not very impressed. This perfume however was given to me as a gift and i've got to admit to wasn't exactly ecstatic when i saw it but thought i'd given it ago, and as it turn out you really shouldnt judge a perfume by its bottle. I love it!!
Price: Around £20 onwards.
Stockists: Boots, Superdrug, Perfume/Fragrance Shop.
The bottle is clear and curved with a black lace pattern and 'Christina Aguilera' printed onto it with a tiny black bow tied around the top. I personally dont like this bottle, i think it looks cheap and tacky and doesn't exactly make you want to smell the perfume inside. I personally would NEVER have bought a perfume with this kind of a bottle, thankfully whats inside is much better...
Heart Notes: Lily, peony, plum and jasmine
Top Notes: Peach and blackcurrant
Base Notes: Vanilla, musk and sandalwood
The smell is definitley very sexy and seductive, but not in an over the top way. Most of the perfumes i own tend to be quite floral and more daytime fragrance, so i tend to save this one for nights out etc but it is still suitable for everyday wear. The smell lingers a fairly long time but not as long as some others that i own which can be a bit annoying as i have the larger bottle of this perfume so i cant exactly take it out with me to top up!!!
I would definitley reccomend this perfume as i had quite a pleasant surprise when i smelled it and wear it all the time. My nottle nearly finished and i am considering buying a new one, or even trying her latest fragrance!!
x Thanks For Reading x
Being a big fan of Christina I decided to purchase her fragrance. The packaging is a beautifully delicate bottle with a shape slightly resembling a feminine figure. A little black bow to around the rim and gorgeous lace detail around the actual bottle. Anyone who loves girlie, feminine packaging on products will absolutley adore this. I think the design is to represent christina herself and as the way she portrayed herself throughout the media this captures it perfectly. The scent is rather strong at first but as most perfumes will die down. However I feel it dies down too much because after a few hours I felt the scent no longer stayed with me. Of course I asked people around me, assuming I was used to the scent but they couldn't smell it either or only if they were extremely close. The scent itself is a very sweet aroma. The mixture of flowers and fruits within the scent may be overpowering for some people. It depends on what you like, its not a terribly strong scent that it gets stuck in your throat and causes you to rush for normal air or water but for people just wanting a simple smell it may be too much. I personally think the bottle is stunning and the scent is great, just ashame it doesn't stick around.
I was never a perfume lover... But I am beginning to notice that this is changing. I used to have a perfume standing on the shelf for pure decoration purposes but lately I am enchanted by these little bottles and am slowly building up my collection.
I do not know what is the cause of my new born love for perfume, I know it all started with Dolce Gabanna The One perfume, which was the first one that awoke my affection to perfume because of its amazing smell. Before that perfume 99.9% of perfumes that I came upon stank (to me) and after that perfume I am coming across more and more perfumes that I think are just divine. It could be the fragrances trends have changed to match my demands or something in me changed.
Last addition to my divine smells collection is Chrisitna Aguilera perfume.
* Before this one "caught my nose" it caught my eye. Bottle has a feminine shape, it somehow reminds you of a woman body, and on the bottle there is a print of a black lace like flowery pattern, which makes the bottle intimately sexy. Upon seeing that I thought I have to give it a smell since a bottle like this clearly suggests that this fragrance is supposed to make a woman fell confident, sexy, seductive - for an affordable price - this is seen from the fact that the lace is printed, not real - for the visual effect it would be even better if the lace on the bottle would be real but probably this would make the perfume rather expensive.
* I smelled the perfume and tested it. I was satisfied with the smell and satisfied with how the smell developed on my skin and so the perfume was mine.
* * * Scent * * *
* For the perfume experts:
Top Notes: exotic fruit sorbet, tangerine, black currant
Heart Notes: peony, plum note, jasmine
Base Notes: amber , musk, creamy vanilla.
* For regular girls:
It's always hard to describe scents since this is somewhat subjective. Some perfumes can smell extremely great to some and could not be worse for others. I like this smell because it is not to intense so I can use it anywhere. It is impossible to tell which scent, note is the strongest or what this one smells like, it's a good mixture. I can say that fruity scents are not in a foreground, which I like because in my opinion fruity smells can be less classy than other scents (again in my opinion). Vanilla scent can be noticed but not in a way you could say this perfume is vanilla, it just gives it the softness of vanilla, I could describe it as being similar to when you bake vanilla cookies or something, when they are being baked the kitchen is full of cookie scent but there is a note of softness in the background, the smell of vanilla. Flower notes are also detected but are very subtle, a scent similar to when you are in the natural meadow, with a normal proportion of wild flowers, which give this gentle smell. The smell has class but is not to fancy, it is seductive but not to intrusive, it is mysterious. I think it represents women.
* The scent stayed pretty much the same when applied on my skin but I do suggest you test the perfume before purchase since perfumes can develop differently on some skin types.
* * * Men's view * * *
Since women an men have different tastes in smells I want to include this part of the story to.
Test "subject" is my boyfriend. He likes this smell on me, compared to my previous perfumes he says this one is one of the top ones. He likes it because it is not to pushy. He agrees the scent is seductive. True this short opinion should be taken with ease, my boyfriend can't exactly say that my new perfume is rubbish now can he? But I think he honestly likes it, well he acts like he does if you get me.
* * * Conclusion * * *
A fabulous perfume for an affordable price (50ml bottle £ 23.50 Amazon.co.uk at the moment of writing), there are always deals available on gift boxes, containing this perfume and another product from Christina Aguilera collection for free or discounted.
Writing the review for this perfume felt almost like writing a fairytale and this probably says something about this perfume - it's enchanting.
I was never to much of a fan of Christina Aguilera music, but she now has one more fan, true still not musical.
It's easy to say that this is a favourite scent of mine. My friends will vouch for me on this - I'm always harping on about how gorgeous it smells! This perfume was given to me as a gift the Christmas before last, and since then it's fast become my favourite fragrance to wear!
*****What does it look like?*****
There's a choice available regarding what size bottle you want - be it either 15, 30, 50 or 75ml of the fragrance - I personally have the 30ml variant.
The bottle itself is a smooth, curved design, and is made of transparent glass, letting you see clearly how much of the scent you've got left. Some bottles of perfume are coloured, making it hard to see whether or not you're running out and need to go buy some more, yet the transparency of Christina Aguilera's bottle poses no problems on this front.
The design is very pretty, too - on the bottle's face is an intricate, flowery/lacy black pattern which visually looks lovely, and is complete with a little dainty black bow tied around the bottle's neck.
*****What does it smell like?*****
According to the website, the notes for this perfume are as follows...
Top notes: Exotic fruit sorbet, tangerine and black currant
Heart notes: Peony, jasmine and plum
Base notes: Amber, creamy vanilla and musk notes.
When the above scents are all mixed up together, the stunning smell that is 'Christina Aguilera' is created - and it does not disappoint.
It's beautiful, and has a very feminine aroma to it, yet not in such a way so that it's sickly or too sweet. It's also unique - some perfumes can be bland and lack that sense of originality; I've smelt perfumes that are very similar to each other, yet this one is in a league of its own.
*****What's the price?*****
The best price I've researched can be found at Superdrug, where a 30ml bottle of the stuff can be purchased for the price of £17.99.
Christina Aguilera Eau De Parfume.....
I always seem to be buying a new perfume and most of the time I end up getting bored with it or not even liking it on the first whiff ( I hardly ever sniff them before hand). I do now try to rotate my vase collection of scents most days and there are of course the fragrances that are more suitable for certain occasions.
However I still felt it was time to get some new fragrances as I had reached a very hansom level of Boots Club Card Points and what better way to spend them than on a treat for oneself! I purchased this Christina Aguilera scent merely because it was one that I had not tried before and for the small bottle I found the price was pretty cheap so I could easily afford to get a few different bottles of other perfumes.
The bottle consisted of 15 ml and was on some sort of special offer with a few pounds off so I only paid around £9 for it (minus my 10% discount) but the usual retail selling price for this sized bottle is £13 and the larger bottle of 30 ml works out slightly cheaper at £20 per bottle.
The packaging of the perfume is rather pretty as it is a cream and black colour with a pretty black lace pattern both on the outer box and the bottle of perfume held inside. There does seem to be a lot of excess packaging for such a small bottle but I guess this is to protect the bottle and this job has been done well.
The bottle is of a nice design in my opinion and has an easy to remove pull off lid and a small back ribbon tied around the neck of the hour glass shaped bottle. The bottle clearly states that it is Christina Aguilera Perfume but other than this and the black lace pattern there is nothing more on the clear glass. The perfume inside the bottle has a slight gold tinge to is colour but nothing too strong.
Now to the smell of the perfume itself. On applying the perfume for the first time, I found the the spray pump allowed a good amount of the product to come out just with one squirt so only a few were needed for coverage and the smell was one I instantly fell in love with. There was such a sweet aroma of vanilla and jasmine at first which smelt just divine and I felt seemed fresh and girlie. As the front scents started to fade away more aromas were easy to pick out such as the muskiness and fruity scents which all seemed to work well together at giving an all round sweet, summery and feminine perfume which I truly felt was a good one for me.
The only downside of the perfume is really the fact that it has very little staying power and after a few hours I felt I was unable to smell the perfume at all. I tried to spray the perfume more onto my clothes than my skin but this didn't seem to make much more of a difference and in the end I decided that I would just carry the small bottle out with me in my handbag to reapply throughout the day. This was a good plan and made me feel fresh and appealing however it resulted in the small 15 ml bottle not lasting longer than a few weeks!
I personally feel that I will be buying the perfume again but I would probably pay a little bit more to get the bigger (and better for value) bottle of 30 ml. The price is very affordable compared with a lot of other perfumes that are out there and I find the smell really very appealing no matter how long (or short) the fragrance itself actually lasts for.
Overall I feel that this Christina Aguilera Perfume is a great summer fragrance which is sweet and feminnie but it just doesn't last on the skin or clothes as well as I would like. So for that reason I am only awarding a 3 out of 5 star rating. Love the smell but it just doesn't last! Arrggggh.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
