Advantages: Smells lovely, pretty bottle, good image, not too expensive
Disadvantages: The smell doesn't last as long as I'd like
I'm not a particular girly kind of girl. I love trousers and comfy flat shoes; I hate skirts and dresses and you'll never find me in a pair of high heels. So, therefore, it may not come over as a huge shock that I only bought my first proper perfume just recently, at the age of thirty nine!
I like to smell nice, but for years, have relied on deodorants, body sprays and the like. I own two Lush solid perfumes, which serve me well too and I have had the odd bottle of Avon perfume over the years, but I have never previously found a perfume I am happy to spend £20 on. But now I have - Christina Aguilera's Eau de Parfum.
I quite like Christina Aguilera. She's pretty, has had some great songs out (I love Beautiful and Candyman) and seems a good role model for young women. I certainly wouldn't buy a fragrance from a celebrity I hated - even for someone else. (So, tough, Lily Allen!)
My eighteen-year-old daughter had the Christina Aguilera perfume on her Christmas wish list, so I went to Boots and had a look round. I was thrilled to see it was on offer, only £9.25 for a 30ml bottle, which was around half price! So I bought that for her, wrapped it and of course, she opened it on Christmas Day.
After spraying it on herself, she came over to me for a sniff and I thought it smelled lovely. I tried some on me and again, I was impressed. It was sweet, girly, light, a kind of pale pink smell to me. There's a hint of muskiness, some vanilla in there and I think it's suitable for daytime or evening wear.
(The Christina Aguilera Perfume site says it is fruity with tangerine and blackcurrant tea, peony, jasmine, plum, amber, vanilla and musk. Looks like I can smell the base notes the most then!)
I liked it so much that when I got a £20 Boots voucher earlier this month, my first thought was to buy the same perfume for myself. This time the 30ml bottle was £19, but I had expected it to be around that. I think it's worth the money though, as my daughter has worn it most days and there is still loads left in the bottle.
Talking of the bottle, it's a really pretty one. It's shaped like an hourglass figure and is clear glass with a black lacy effect, as is the box. It's easy to hold, the top is secure and the sprays come out well. I would expect my 30ml bottle to last around six months, even using it daily, as I tend to.
I was interested to read on the Christina Aguilera Perfume website that the bottle's design is inspired by vintage glamour, as I love all that. I'm a big fan of Marilyn Monroe, Jean Harlow and Jayne Mansfield!
The only slight disadvantage I have found to this perfume is that it doesn't have great staying power. It lasts a few hours, but if I was going out again in the evening, I would need to reapply it.
Otherwise, I definitely recommend it. Even my husband commented I smelled nice and he - like many men - is not known for his great observation skills.

Summary: A lovely perfume for all ages of women
