I had never tried any of the Christina Aguilera perfumes so I was intrigued to try her new perfume "Royal Desire" when I saw the chance to get a free sample.


WHAT DO THEY SAY?

"Dedicated to women who feel like queens. If you enjoy luxurious things, seduction and finding yourself in the centre of attention, this fragrance was created just for you."
After reading this I loved the perfume already as it sounded right up my street. It conjured up so many thoughts about what the perfume would be like; sexy, sultry and gorgeous.


THE BOTTLE

Christina uses a similar design for all of her perfume releases; this enables us to easily tell that they are from her range. The curved glass bottle has a pattern rising from the bottom of the bottle with "Christina Aguilera" written across the top of the bottle.

WHATS IN THE PERFUME?

Top notes: white marshmallow, blackberry and mandarin.
Heart: honeysuckle, herbs, rose and lily.
Base: sandalwood, musk and cedar.

I am not the best person to ask when it comes to scents in perfumes but since I have started reviewing I have become more aware of what different elements smell like.

I like a lot of the scents that are used to create this perfume and have previously used "M by Mariah Carey" which uses marshmallow in its top notes which I absolutely loved so I was sure I was going to like Royal Desire.


WHAT DO I THINK?

My initial thoughts of the perfume were that it was not what I had expected. It was a lot more subtle and less musky than I had imagined.

The sweetness of the marshmallow blends with the blackberry to give off a scent that reminds me more of sweets than a sultry and seducing scent.

As the perfume settles the other elements of the perfume begin to reveal themselves. I was disappointed by the fact that I could not really smell the honeysuckle as I really like the scent. The next scent I could smell was the rose but I have to say I found that it smelt quite sickly and I wasn't a fan at all. This could have been the herb scent in the perfume but I am not entirely sure.

The muskiness of the perfume is what you are left with by the end of your experience with this perfume which I have to say is not long. The perfume quickly changes from one scent to the next and does not change my view that it is a disappointing fragrance.


CONCLUSION

This perfume was a big let down for me, it raised my expectations with its description and the ingredients that it had in but somehow it just missed the bar by a long way. It is quite a weak fragrance so it would be best to wear during the day but I won't be wearing it again any time soon. 2 out of 10.
