Advantages: Smells wonderful, lasts well
Disadvantages: The price!
This has to be my favourite perfume of all time. Just one waft of fragrance as someone walks past and it is unmistakable.
Aromatics Elixir is made by Clinique, and the first thing you will notice about it is that it's not cheap!! I must say however that a little of it does go a long way.
I won some vouchers to spend at Debenhams a couple of years ago and I decided to treat myself to some of this perfume. I bought the 45ml parfum spray which cost about £30, I think.
There are larger bottles available and you can also buy the
various toiletries to match - bubble bath, talcum powder, soap etc, if you're feeling really flush! I now have the deodorant, shower cream and body smoother (moisturiser) and it is lovely to be able to use them all on the rare occasions I go out these days!
It is quite a heavy fragrance and it lasts for ages. It does cling to your clothes as well so you'll notice the fragrance if you wear the same item of clothing again, before it's washed. I've noticed it on things such as cardigans, which would not necessarily be washed every time they are worn.
The best way to describe the fragrance of Aromatics Elixir would be to say that it is not unlike Aramis aftershave in its actual smell. If someone were to walk past you wearing this particular perfume you would get a delicious waft of fragrance on the air - it's that type of perfume. Oh heck it is so difficult to explain a smell using words!!!!
I will say though that I feel like a million dollars when I wear this perfume.
The bottle itself is plain cloudy glass with a gold coloured top. There's a picture at the top of this opinion. Clinique don't go in for gimmicks like brightly coloured or oddly shaped bottles. Their products are classy and the packaging reflects this.
Following on from the classy image is the fact that Clinique products are only available in certain stores. In Llandudno the only places that are allowed to sell this brand are Debenhams and Boots. This presumably adds to the exclusiveness of Clinique, and so makes it appear to be worth more.
Incidentally last year Dave wanted to buy some Clinique perfume and body smoother for me at Christmas. He went into Boots to ask for a gift box to be made up for me. He was told that they hadn't got time and could he come back in the week! He went to Debenhams and they made up a lovely presentation box for me and were very happy to do so.
Debenhams often have an offer before Christmas where, if you buy a certain amount of goods you get some free gift vouchers. Clinique also do offers where, if you spend a certain amount on their products you get free gifts. It would certainly be worth looking out for these offers and making the most of them to treat yourself, or to get someone else to treat you!
Summary: A lovely perfume at a high price.

- 31/12/07 All perfumes are so blinking expensive!! I haven't heard of this one before. |

- 30/12/07 This is a long-time favourite of mine partly because I used to work for the company that created it for Clinique and could sometimes get unmarked freebie bottles. They have scientific 'proof' that it really does have a positive effect on the mood of the wearer. |
