Clinique Happy Men Eau de Cologne
Advantages: Great strong citrusy smell which lasts 3 - 5 hours. Male suited container.
Disadvantages: No spray end, more difficult to apply.
The interesting facts behind the names of the different perfumes are as follows: Eau de Toilette is a mixture which combined round 1-6% perfume concentrates with water and other liquids, creating a scent which doesn't stay around as long as other fragrances (it won't linger). Eau de Parfum is the more powerful alternative, with 7-15% concentrates making it last longer and smell stronger (this, the more preferred perfume). Eau de Cologne on the other hand, the type connected with this particular brand of fragrance, 'Clinique Happy For Men', is a concoction which is slightly lighter than the latter and is by definition mixed with citrus oils (made popular by Napoleon!).
Clinique have created a lovely refreshing fragrance here. The container with which it is found is filled to the top with the stuff (which comes as a surprise after the last batch of a different brand I received previously). The smell tingles your nose, it has an orangey, citrusy texture and scent, which by definition it should. When out of the bottle and applied to your person, the smell spreads out and almost intensifies, like it has been released from the restraint with which is began. When applied, it feels like it's glimmering against your skin, but this feeling slowly fades and is something I experience with all fragrance products. The smell (though gradually fading) lasts I'd say 3 - 5 hours which is the perfect length of time when embarking on a night out. Combined with a quick spray of deodorant under each arm, you will smell splendid for the entirety.
The fragrances surround, an orange tinted glass shaped oval with a metal looking (but in fact good quality plastic) lid, looks quite basic and is definitely more suited to a male audience than a female (as it should). When you take the lid off, there is a metal cap which covers the glass container below, but this cap is open 100% of the time. There is no spray top which I was quite annoyed about, solely because it makes it difficult to apply to your neck. You have to lean the whole product back against your skin and make sure the right amount trickles from the container. Upon the glass is scribed the products name and at the bottom, 'AFTER SHAVE' and 'APRES-RASAGE'. I presume this is the French for after shave, as there is an apostrophe over the first E.
On the bottom of the glass container is a silver sticker with some information about the products manufacture. 'Clinique Labs Dist. New York. London. Paris. Made in the UK' amongst a few other words and letters. The bottle contains 100 ml of liquid, or 3.4 fluid ounces. This is enough to last well over a year is applied once every two days or so - that's the level or frequency I tend to apply it.
I would definitely recommend this product for any man or lad in need of a relatively strong, noticeable fragrance which lasts a long time and can be reapplied for over a year before running out. I have had some complements and a few people have asked what the smell was and how they too could purchase it - That's got to be a good sign!
