The other day I was in a hurray to go out and couldn't find my current favored perfume, Pink, and had a quick rummage around for an alternative. I don't know how long I've overlooked my bottle of Coty's spray ex'cla-ma'tion, but I gave my neck and wrists a quick burst and went out. I was meeting a friend in the town center and she asked me what perfume I was wearing,' it's really nice,' she said, 'quite unusual.' When I told her the name and make she was surprised asking if it was the same perfume that came out around the same time as 'Charlie' and 'L'Aimant.' Those staples of girlish and teenage perfumes have been around a long time now. The thing about perfumes is that if they are still being sold then they must have something worth buying and it's not a question of age or cheapness. I've smelt some top of the range brands that smell like men's aftershave and I mean the cheap stuff! I must have been in my late twenties, early thirties when Charlie came out. I'm not sure about my Exclamation; I think I last bought some a few years ago; otherwise the bottle wouldn't have kept so long. For ease of reference I'll just use Exclamation for the rest of the review, the way it's spelt above is what's on the bottle. This is shaped exactly like an exclamation mark with a round white bottle, a large black top that fit's snugly over the spray and is balanced so well it's a joy to place on your dressing table. It won't win any design awards, but for the year it was first produced (1988) and the fact that it hasn't changed it's design shows it has stood the test of time. There isn't a great deal I can say about the blending of 'tones' in this one, the information is very limited on the internet, I just knew from the smell that it was definitely a blend of the floral and oriental that I tend to go for. I've since found out this is a blend of peach, apricot, amber and sandalwood, so I was certainly right about the oriental base, this is a perfume that can be strong and long-lasting, so I'd recommend wearing a trial spray on your skin if you want to buy some for yourself. Of course the Coty name is one that speaks for itself. It's been around for nearly a hundred years and is the manufacturer of some famous named brands including amongst it's products cosmetics, beauty products, skin care and sun care to name a few. Based in New York it has a worldwide appeal. Although marketed as a 'young' brand, Exclamation is suitable for all skin types and is one of those that has a base note in Sandalwood that closely linked to musk makes it so alluring. So whether you are a fan of this and maybe didn't know it was still around after over twenty years, or someone looking for an inexpensive but striking perfume, which wears well and looks good, this is one for you. I remember buying this at a Littlewoods outlet the first time I purchased it and it's widely available in most stores at around £6 to £8 per bottle. At that price it's something to put on your Christmas list. Thanks for reading. ©Lisa Fuller 2011.
My love for this perfume was reignited when I recently picked up a can of Exclamation body spray. I quickly became addicted to the sweet scent again and just had to buy the perfume. Strangely I was unable to find it on the high street so I went searching for it on the internet and quickly ordered myself a 50ml bottle. I'm a bit of a sucker when it comes to fragrance and usually go for the more expensive brands because usually the cheaper ones on the market just don't compare to the more expensive fragrances in terms of scent and quality but this one is definitely an exception to that rule. After using the body spray, I was very excited at it's arrival. The first thing I noted was the snazzy design of the box. The white, black and pink really makes for an interesting and eye catching design, and from this it is clear that this is aimed at the younger generation. The bottle itself is white and black which can be seen in the picture above in the shape of an "exclamation mark". A lovely quirky and fun design which reflects the name of the product very well, and also quite literally. The smell is just divine. It is quite a flowery scent, very sweet smelling and feminine with peach, sandalwood and amber and is recommended for casual wear. I do think though that this is a fragrance that can be worn any time and any place. It's prefect from day time as it isn't overpowering but definitely strong enough for evenings also. When the perfume is first sprayed onto the skin, it aroma is very strong. The only problem I have with this is the lasting power. The scent begins to wear off considerably after a few hours and reapplication is required. This isn't really too big of a problem though considering the price of the product. Exclamation can be purchased in 15ml, 30ml and 50ml. As I said before I purchased the 50ml online and the cheapest price I was able to find for this size was £7.95 from cheapsmells.co.uk which I thought was an absolute bargain. When using this, I like to team it up with the Exclamation body spray for maximum effect. When buying take care as there is a this comes in Eau de Cologne and Eau de Toilette. The Eau de Toilette usually contains more perfume compound that Eau de Cologne which means that it will smells stronger and last longer. I would definitely recommend this.
Overview: Exclamation perfume by Coty retails for approximately £6 for 50ml meaning it is at the lower end of the perfume price spectrum. It is available in most high street toiletries stores. This is still quite a popular perfume but no longer as commercially successful when it was first launched in the late 90s. Complementary smelling products available such as body spray. Target market: More suited to the teenage market. Both the packaging and scent have a youthful feel. Smell: Notes of amber, apricot, peach, sandalwood and vanilla. It is a very inoffensive smelling product that has a wide appeal. Scent lasts for approximately 4 hours. It is quite a light, summery smell that is not too overpowering or heavy. Packaging: Packaging is attractive. The bottle is shaped like an exclamation mark and is white with a black spot. The lid is also black. The packaging is sturdy and shatter proof. Lid comes off easily and perfume is dispensed through a spray pump. The spray pump seems durable - I have had perfumes where this has broken before but not with this one. Bottle is quite light. Other: Has not irritated my skin or attracted insects. One bottle lasts approximately 4 months.
When I was a teenager many moons ago now, there were two particular perfumes that were all the rage. One was Charlie (any of them they were all 'hip') and the other was this - Exclamation by Coty. I never really found any of the Charlie fragrances very exciting so never bothered spending my pocket money on them. This however, was truly THE perfume to be wearing and I remember loving the scent so much I wore it for years. When I started working at 18 and had money for *proper* perfumes, poor Exclamation took a back seat..until recently. I saw it on offer at my local chemist for just £2.99 for the 15ml spray. My eyes fixated on it and I felt a tug of love as if spotting my first love! Soppy maybe but I knew I had to buy a bottle and regardless of the price. Price and packaging~ The scent comes in a rectangular box which is dramatically black and white to match the bottle. Speaking of the bottle - this is in a *fun* shaped exclamation design with a white circular bottom half and a black funnel lid protruding upwards from the centre giving the impression of it being indeed an exclamation mark. This perfume comes in several different sizes, as mentioned I purchased the smaller sized 15ml but it is also available in 30ml and 50ml sized bottles. Though I paid just £2.99 for the 15ml size it is available around the £4.50/£5 mark but I can't comment on the larger sized bottles as it mainly seems to be the smaller size that I've seen since buying mine. What it actually smells like~ This is made by Coty and has been around for at least 20 years if not more. It's aimed at the teenage market and I can tell why having tried it again now I'm in my thirties. It has notes of Peach; Apricot; Amber and Sandalwood. These combined together give off a very sweet scent that is very young and 'girly'. It reminds me of Avon's Far away but a lot sweeter! Using the perfume~ On removing the black plastic lid you will find hidden the nozzle which is attached directly to the white part of the bottle. A few tiny spritzes of this are enough as it's quite strong. The good thing about this scent though is it does last for quite a while after first spraying it. It smells strong and sweet on application to the skin and only fades slightly - it literally leaves it's (exclamation) mark as there's no denying what you are wearing! Would I recommend this?~ I bought this as it took me back to when I was younger and I'm really glad I tried it again after all these years. It's not something I would wear everyday as I have many other favourite scents but this is a nice, unoffensive, cheap perfume. It's a nice compact bottle that fits easily into a bag and is a lovely little perfume. If you prefer something heavier or detest sweet smelling perfumes then definitely avoid but if not why not take a trip down memory lane?
This is a fresh smelling purfume and my favourite i have worn it for years and i still love it .You can buy both small and large sizes and also available are the body sprays. It comes in a nice box so perfect for a present for your loved ones. It is a bit pricey but you only need the smallest amount to smell really nice and the smell lasts all day/night. It is suitable for any age i started wearing it as a teen and im now in my late 20s. It has a unique smell and does not remind you of the cheap and nasty perfumes. The big bottle costs around 25.00 and around 10.00 for the smaller size but there are regular offers on in some stores so worth looking around to save the pennies but i will continue to use this product for many years to come. Its nearly xmas so why not treat your mum, daughter or grandma or sister to the great smelling perfume.
I have been using exclamation perfume for a while now. I first got it over 6 years ago and it's been a regular perfume for me ever since. I have got through countless bottles of the stuff over the years. Exclamation is a 'cheap' perfume in the sense that it is not made by a big designer name. This makes it very affordable meaning you can spray it on as liberally as you like and use it on a day to day basis. You can buy a 15ml bottle of it from forget-flowers.co.uk for £5.95 or it is available in Boots for a similar price. The bottle is very funky and original. It comes in a white round bottle with a large black dot in the middle which forms the bottom of an exclamation mark and the lid is black and slightly triangular and it is shaped like the top of an exclamation mark. So when the lid is on it looks like a proper exclamation mark. This looks unusual and it really stands out amongst my other bottles on my dressing table. The bottle is fairly small but this is handy for carrying around with you. I adore the smell of this perfume and it smells just as good as any expensive, designer perfume. It is musky, fresh and slightly fruity. The ingredients are a blend of peach, apricot, amber and sandalwood. The combination of these ingredients gives you a hint of freshness and fruitiness mixed in with a slightly musky, spicy and oriental scent for a bit more substance. It has a subtle sweetness but it never smells sickly and it has hints of a floral smell which blend well with the fruitiness and keep it from being too heavy. It is a very feminine smell and is suitable for both day and night wear. I think the name Exclamation suits this perfume because it has a bit more of a 'presence' than other perfumes. It has a certain confidence and attitude to it if you see what I mean. This perfumes staying power is actually pretty good and better than some of the expensive perfumes I own. A few sprays over you will last several hours and I can still smell it on me by the end of the day. I have had lots of comments on it and my boyfriend says it is one of the perfumes he likes best on me. Not bad considering the price! You can also buy a body spray of it which is nice for light wear in the house or on the beach. This is also quite cheap and usually retails at under £2. There are also other perfumes available in the Exclamation line including Exclamation Play, Exclamation Wild Musk and Exclamation Star. I have only tried the latter but it is absolutely beautiful so will definitely be getting some of the other Exclamation perfumes. Overall this is a gorgeous smelling perfume for a brilliant price. I always like to have a bottle of this and my perfume collection feels incomplete without it. I highly recommend it.
Exclamation The first thing that i liked about this body spray is the bottle it is so nice and it looks like an exclamation mark. You just pull off the long upside down- triangle shaped lid and you are left holding the round small bottle. At first i thought is this it because i have never brought a body spray so small (it didn't look small when i took it out of the box), but it smells great and it doesn't cost that much. However, if you decide to buy the perfume bottled one like me then you wouldn't have that much left after a week because it finishes so quickly, i just brought the perfume bottled one to treat myself. Good for those who brought Exclamation in a body spray can. I would recommend Exclamation Play for younger women because the smell is a bit strong and is very playful so it is more likely to suit younger girls and the bottle too. I have never brought the spray can one before but the perfumed one would be great as a gift for a friend or a sister. Overall, the quirky shaped perfume bottle and the exquisite smell really does keep you "exclaiming" for more!!!
