At Christmas, my husband received a bottle of the David Beckham Homme Eau De Toilette, with this review discussing my thoughts.
The bottle of Homme EDT that my husband received is 30ml in size, and this is relatively inexpensive to buy, costing between £5 - £10 on sites such as www.amazon.co.uk.
The aftershave is presented in an oblong bottle made of sturdy glass and there is bold lettering printed across the bottle which spells out DAVID BECKHAM in a bold, but plain, font. The bottle's design is chunky, and masculine.
The description on www.amazon.co.uk for this aftershave is as follows:
•Wet citrus, spicy ginger and black pepper open the fragrance
•A signature heart of aromatic rosemary, sumptuous leather and cashmere wood
•Fragrance finishes with deep patchouli and sueded musk
When the scent is first sprayed, it is woody, with a notable spice at its core. This spice does die down a little following application, but it never fades into oblivion, with it hanging in the backdrop quite easily. The spice in this aftershave makes its appearance very early on, and it does seem to be a notable trait of this particular scent, as I've noticed the same spice hanging in my bathroom for quite a long time following my husband's shower with the matching Homme Body Wash; it has no desire to be understated or quiet.
I like how refreshing the scent feels; there is a notable 'tang' in the scent and I find that this feels quite revitalising. My husband has even commented on how he likes the matching Homme Body Wash when it is used first thing in the morning for this exact reason; he used the words "it wakes me up a bit" but I know he is describing a revitalising feeling from within the spicy scent.
In terms of the scent's longevity, I feel it performs quite well; following application in the morning, the spicy core at the scent's heart is still easily detectable on the skin. The woodier notes in the backdrop are more faded than this, but can still be noted by a faint 'whisper' that is evident every now and again.
Taking everything into account, I do recommend the David Beckham Homme Eau De Toilette as I quite like its fresh, spicy scent. I don't always feel that it is the best scent for the occasion in hand, and as such, it doesn't feel as versatile as other scents that my husband has in his collection; don't be fooled into thinking that this is one of those understated, easy-going, 'everyday' scents as it definitely isn't, but I admit that I do like its strong, masculine voice.
Considering the good results in terms of the aftershave's longevity, and it's fantastic value purchase price, I do feel that four marks out of five is an appropriate award in the product rating score on this occasion.
It was my 29th Birthday last Saturday and when my Dad asked me what I would like I asked for Cash and a David Beckham eau de toilette. He bought me this one which I had not had yet but had owned the other products in the "Homme" range which are the deodorant and shower gel. The fragrance is available for around £15 for a 75ml bottle which is cheaper than a lot of fragrances. I was impressed when I tried the deodorant version of this fragrance and so was pleased when I opened the present and saw that it was this particular one. It has a nice look which stands out and looks like a fairly expensive product.
So here's the all important bit about the fragrance which is a very pleasant one indeed. Like the other fragrances in the David Beckham range, this is also a fairly long lasting fragrance which has a very nice scent which has the kind of feel of a more expensive fragrance from the likes of Calvin Klein or Giorgio Armani. The scent has some nice woody and spicy notes which give the fragrance a slight kick but it's not too strong and has a very pleasant scent, There's also the opening citrus notes which really start the fragrance off well. It certainly impressed on my first spray.
Top- Citrus, ginger, pine & hint of fiery pepper.
The citrus notes start off things very well and the top notes last for a good two hours or so before blending into the heart notes which bring the woody feel to the fragrance.
Heart - Cashmere wood, leather & rosemary.
Here we have the heart notes which give the fragrance a darker more distinctive feel as the scent slowly changes into a more woody based scent, Fading after a couple of hours into the base notes.
Base - Mahogany wood, patchouli & skin musk.
We end the fragrance with some more woody notes with a slight musk to the fragrance as well. These notes last for around 2 hours and then the fragrance fades out into a very subtle scent.
This fragrance is ideal for the younger male and preferably someone who's a fan of David Beckham as celebrity fragrances go down really well with someone who's a fan of the brand name. It's ideal for nights out or daily use and it lasts better than the deodorant in the range and as you might expect it goes well with it to give you an all over scent. There's also the excellent shower gel in the "Homme" range too and I may just get some of that to use with this fragrance. This is an excellent fragrance which is available at a decent price and lasts pretty well given the lower price. It's worth a tester.
