David Beckham: Instinct After Dark eau de toilette
Who doesn't know the Beckhams and it's a well known fact that they have been expanding their brand(s) over the last couple of years. I can't really say that football is a big interest of me but suppose because they are always feature in the newspapers and on television they always catch my attention.
So did the bottle of this fragrance which has been released in the year 2008 and had to be a more evening version of the Instinct fragrance. You can buy this around 14 pounds which I think is a good and affordable price. The bottle stood out for me with this black colour and the silver cap. Also the letters on the bottle are in silver and mention the product name and brand name. It all looks very masculine and modern. Also the box looks very nice with a more grey background but again the same letters. The version I bought had 50 ml.
The top notes of this fragrance include grapefruit, Italian bergamot and mandarin leaf. The middle notes are pimento, star anise and cardamom and the bottom notes vanilla and white amber. The first time I sprayed this fragrance it really cached my attention. It's actually fresh in the beginning and you really notice the grapefruit and like most fragrances it settles down after a few minutes and you notice the more softer vanilla. I can't really recognise the middle notes but I like the combination of the vanilla and a bit spicy scent. It's definitely a masculine fragrances but then just a bit fresher than most fragrances out there.
It's stay with you for about 4 hour i would say which is more than enough since it's a evening fragrance after all. I think the 14 pounds for a 50 ml makes it a bargain and definetely recommend it!
Despite my usual antipathy towards gaining celebrity endorsed fragrances I picked this up in the sale just before Christmas not expecting much, put after the tester impressed my nosebuds I decided it was worth a shot and sure enough it has proved an excellent impulse buy and has changed my opinion about buying Celebrity perfumes for myself!
This has been around for a few years now and is often in sales so can be picked up for a bargain price in some stores and the retail price for the 50ml bottle is around 50ml.
The first thing that hit me when spraying this and the first impression you get when scenting it on yourself or on someone else, is the facts that is very citrussy indeed. The base note is the strong predominant tone in this with a organey, lemony almost kiwi mixture that is hard to describe. It is a tad sweet too so it really gives off a very very unique scent which impressed me.
Indeed it is this citrus flavour that lasts throughout and stays dominant in the brand. Only a tiny spray of the aftershave is needed as it is quite strong too and too much will definitely overpower and have the adverse effect. This is a positive thing in essence as it means the 50ml bottle with only a small spray required each time will keep you going for some time.
One probably I did have was I felt this was not an aftershave for going out or nightwear but a more day to day fragrance. This is not a bad thing at all however the fact that the main scent lasts only around 3-4 hours meaning that if used as day wear at work it wears off before half the day is done! By the end of the day it has worn out completely. In short bursts though it is very effective stays strong and fades.
The best thing about it though is the distinctive, citrus based tones and it has a unique scent. It has a slight feminine tone to it though and it will impress the ladies!! The bottle is also a stylish and classy black which will sit well on the shelf.
In essence it's a good price to pay for a celebrity perfume with such a great tone but nevertheless the fact it fades so fast is a real let down!

Admittedly I am not a fan of David Beckham as football does not interest me; however I am a fan of nice fragrances at good prices. David Beckham's fragrances can generally be brought for £15 to £30 depending on which size you buy making them affordable for most people's price bracket. David Beckham has three distinct fragrances that are continuously on sale; however this fragrance was a limited edition and so is no longer available in the shops, but can still be brought online on ebay and other websites.
David Beckham Instinct after Dark was released in 2008 as a twist/evening version of his fragrance 'Instinct', which can still be brought in the shops. Like most fragrances it has three levels of scents; tops notes of grapefruit, Italian bergamot and mandarin leaf, middle notes of pimento, star anise and cardamom and finally bottom notes of vanilla and white amber. The top notes are very citrus and very noticeable when you first spray the fragrance. I find the use of grapefruit really interesting and different from the usual lemon/orangy smell. Once the fragrance has settled down the slightly more elegant middle notes start to become more noticeable. From the list of 'ingredients' you would not think that they would blend with the citrus top notes as they are more musky, but I think with the blend of vanilla (my favourite scent) it makes the musk more subtle. Overall it produces a nice spicy fragrance that last for about 3/4hours on the skin.
I believed this fragrance is aimed at more mature gentlemen, maybe more like 30+, but is really good value costing about £15 for 50ml bottle, which is a bargain and makes up for the fact the fragrance is not as long lasting as most men would like. Even though it is not that long lasting don't spray too much as it is fairly strong and would get too overpowering.
Imagine being able to walk out the house smelling of David Beckham? What could be finer...well possibly smelling David Beckham himself. If you can part with nine or ten pounds you can get yourself a bottle of his scent called 'Instinct After Dark.' I wonder what his instinct after dark is? Maybe it's to sneak off for a night on the town without Victoria.
The 50ml bottle is presented in a sleek and sophisticated bottle, minimal and chic so you needn't feel embarrassed having it on display. If the name puts you off, you could always put some masking tape over it. I like the black bottle which reinforces the after dark notion.
So onto the scent. It is a complex blend of notes. There is a fresher top side to this with a fruity allure. I warmed to the grapefruit and mandarin, which gave it a delicious summery zest. Also tucked in there we have some warmer flavours like cardamon and pimento offering something of the succulent musky variety. The middle notes help underpin the long lasting aroma and give the fragrance depth and maturity. To round it all off, a subtle twist of vanilla and white amber suggests this is a fragrance for the gentleman who is in touch with his softer side. The sweeter flavours balance nicely and provide that delicate ambience the fragrance craves.
The fragrance would suit men of all ages and would be particularly good for summer as it has a fresh zest about it. I have dabbled with it after dark too for the odd night out and found it sits very well. The scent is not too raunchy or potent to upset noses and the balance of smells is pretty good. This is an affordable and tasty little number and can be bought for about ten pounds online. I await 'Emile Heskey: Intuition In The Morning' and 'Wayne Rooney: Ineptness At Lunchtime.'
As a big fan of David Beckham I was intrigued and rather interested when I heard a couple of years ago that he was going to release his own line of fragrances. About 18 months ago I first tried this fragrance and as it was a lot cheaper than the normal price you would expect to pay for a popular fragrance I decided to pick up a bottle in my local Boots. It was around £10 which was for a 50ml bottle of the fragrance which is around half what you would pay for fragrances in the same section as this one.
**Instinct After Dark**
This fragrance was released in 2008 and was a limited edition of the original "Instinct" fragrance. This fragrance was designed by Perfumer Beatrice Piquet who died this year aged 46. Instinct After Dark has a Summery feel and has been a popular fragrance over the past two years since it's entry in 2008.
This is what entices you when you try a tester in the store and thankfully This fragrance starts off with Citrus notes of grapefruit, bergamot and mandarin. These are a common blend in fragrances and are a hit with me, They blend well and give the fragrance a nice start which lasts well for around 3-4 hours until which time the middle notes come in.
These middle notes bring out a slightly darker, more musky but still elegant scent of pimento, star anise and cardamom. I must say that these are a good combination and take the fragrance on from the opening notes. There's also some richness about the middle notes which last around 2-3 hours before blending into the bottom notes.
The fragrance then changes into the lighter notes of vanilla and white amber which are great for the end of the night when you want a subtle fragrance which will tend to fade after 3 hours or so. I think the bottom notes top off the fragrance well and keep the consistency of the fragrances quality high.
Whilst this is a Summery Night Time fragrance it is quite suitable for any occasion and you don't need to spray too much each time you use it which will allow you to keep using the fragrance for a while. This is not as good a fragrance as the main ones from the likes of Calvin Klein, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger etc but if you are looking for something a little cheaper then it is a fine product to try. You could always have this one as a daily fragrance and have something a little more expensive for different occasions like nights and meals out etc.
This is a highly recommended fragrance and one which will prove popular with the ladies. If you like me are disappointed about Becks missing the World Cup then why not pick up a bottle of this or one of his other fragrances and watch the games down the pub or at home whilst wearing the fragrance. This is a versatile fragrance which benefits from it's very competitive price. I would recommend this fragrance to any man looking for something a little cheaper than the usual fragrance but still a quality fragrance.
David Beckham has for years now been one of the celebrities who has enjoyed huge success with his fragrances on offer so following on from his previous successes he now offers us up the collectible and limited edition Instinct After Dark eau de toilette so is it worth picking up or is it a gimicky money maker?
Instinct After Dark has many layers of fragrance and starts of with gorgeous sparkling, tangy-fresh citrus notes of grapefruit, Italian bergamot and mandarin leaf before heading down the road of pure elegance with pimento, star anise and cardamom all adding into the amazing depth before culminating in the magnetic sensuality of vanilla and white amber. This is a very sophisticated fragrance with many alluring scents adding together to create a dark and very grown up fragrance that is perfect for wearing when going out on the town as it really stands out from the crowd without being overly aggressive.
An excellent fragrance with great depth of scents whilst managing to offer up a sophisticated and grown up fragrance that has been well put together in a nicely packaged box and bottle to once again make this a Beckham offering that is worthy of being considered for your collection.
