Having come to the end of my bottle of my first encounter with a "brand Beckham" aftershave, namely "Instinct", I went on the look out for another. "Intimately" caught my eye when I saw it for sale on amazon, the attractive bottle plus a tempting price tag saw me part with some cash and after a few days I had something new to try. Intimately for men is described as being "A unique spicy and woody scent with notes of bergamot, cardamom, nutmeg, violet, sandalwood, patchouli and amber. This fragrance opens with the cardamom and citrus accords and slowly melts into the smooth woody base notes". All the notes in the fragrance are ones that I like and ones that I think suit my skin so though it''s nothing out of ordinary I do think it''s rather nice and something that I have enjoyed wearing since buying mine a few weeks ago. I find that it has Ok staying power and applying a few squirts on a morning seems to last the majority of the day, it quickly develops into a woody fragrance that is nice and really quite non-offensive and overall I do think it''s a good inclusion to the brand Beckham range. For less than a tenner for the 30ml bottle I think it represents excellent value for money, indeed similar fragrances from the bigger designers can cost 3 or 4 times the amount that Intimately does and anyone looking for a daytime fragrance that doesn''t cost the earth could do a lot worse than this one. For me it''s a little too similar to other EDT''s out there but that doesn''t mean it''s bad. It''s not one that I would want to buy on a regular basis but for a change it''s been quite the success and I would recommend it to others. Available from the usual places expect to pay under 10GBP for the 30ml upto around 15-20GBP for the bigger bottles. Thanks for reading my review
A couple of years ago I had a bit of an urge (or mad moment) to try different eau de toilettes and went a bit over the top in that I bought far too many at once and I'm still using most of them. It does mean, though, that I can wear a different fragrance every day for a couple of weeks which, I know, is quite ridiculous. I bought a variety of brands at various prices - the most expensive ones being only brought out for special occasions, and the cheaper ones for everyday use. One of the cheaper ones I bought was Intimately Beckham.
The eau de toilette is made by Coty which is, of course, a very well-known and long-established perfume house. It was founded in France in 1904 and produces fragrances for a lot of celebrity brands including Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Faith Hill, Halle Berry, Beonce, Celine Deon and, of course, the Beckhams. Its portfolio also contains brands such as Adidas, Calvin Klein, Davidoff and Rimmel.
PACKAGING AND DESIGN:-
I bought the smallest size available - 30ml, but I think you can now only buy it in 50ml and 75ml sizes. The packaging is the same, though, and it comes in similarly-shaped bottles. The square box is dark brown in colour with gold lettering and the pattern on it gives a slight 3d effect when held to the light - nothing particularly special but it does look classy enough to give as a gift. The bottle inside is quite stylish - square and angular, with a clear square plastic top which covers the gold-coloured atomizer. Even though the product is quite cheap, the packaging on the whole does, at first glance, appear expensive-looking.
The fragrance itself has top notes of bergamot, grapefruit zest and cardom, mid-tones of nutmeg, star anise and violet and base notes of sandalwood, patchouili and amber.
MY EXPERIENCE USING THE EDT:-
I found that it's a very pleasant fragrance. When you first spray it, there's quite a sweet smell - a little flowery and fruity but no sharp peppery odour that you get with some EDTs, and I personally think it is very masculine. It's not particularly strong at first and settles down very quickly to a slightly deeper and richer woody smell. I really do like the perfume as I think it's quite understated and could be suitable for most occasions - both for work and socially. However, and this is what is so infuriating, the fragrance doesn't last very long - after about an hour (two at the most) I can hardly smell it at all. When I wear an EDT I expect it to last at least a few hours - I don't want to keep topping it up throughout the day. I've even tried spraying it onto my shirt as well as my face and neck and, although it does last a little longer, it's still not got a lot of staying power.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY:-
This fragrance is widely available both online and from the local high street (even Home Bargains, apparently, sell this). Prices vary immensely eg. The Perfume Shop are selling the 75ml size for £33.50 whereas you can currently buy it through Amazon at £12.39. At less than £13 for 75ml I would say it's quite a bargain but there's no way that I would pay over £30 for this purely because of its lack of longevity.
I don't usually buy celebrity-branded products, but this eau de toilette is very nice, it's just such a pity that the fragrance doesn't last very long. I would consider buying it again but certainly not for the full price. If the perfume had longer staying power I would have given it a 5 star rating, but as it is I can really only award it 4 stars, and that is being generous.
