===What's his, is mine===
Celebrities these days (at least the ones that I tend to loathe slightly) all tend to bring out a fragrance with their name on it. And why not? Publicity whoring knows no bounds normally, why should it stop at fragrances? Usually I avoid these sorts of things with vigour but every once in a while I am convinced (see: forced) to try out one of their products. The latest "convincing" came in the shape of a bottle turning up in a drawer while Ciao were having a bit of a party with eau de toilettes. I can't remember if Allan had this bottle in his collection or if my Gran got me it once for Christmas, but it's there and that's all that matters.
David and Victoria Beckham have stamped their name on this one. David is a football "icon" and was once captain of the England team or something before selling himself to various and many other teams and products. Victoria was a Spice Girl known for being Posh, far too skinny and a bit weird with her bird-poo facials that she's apparently a fan of. They enjoy naming their kids after where they boinked. I cannot stand either of them, but there are others who may enjoy the couple's antics.
The bottle is actually quite stylish. Imagine a cube, cut in half. It's a clear, squat glass bottle with "Intimately Yours Beckham" printed in black on the bottom right edge. A silver cube sits on top with a little heart motif made from the letters DVB engraved into it. This is the lid, which feels like it's slightly magnetic to help keep it on firmly while allowing it to come off easily when you want it to. Under this cube you'll find the spray dispenser. The shape of the bottle means it'll sit happily on its own without any worry of knocking it or it falling over. Overall it looks very understated which is nice. It definitely looks nicer than the female version which is "gold" in colour giving the whole thing the look of a sample bottle from a Doctor's office.
Top notes: amalfi lemon, blood orange
Middle/ Heart notes: sage, basil, lavender
Base notes: sandalwood, tonka bean, vetiver
This is a fresh one. The initial burst isn't incredibly strong but it is noticeably light, sweet and refreshing. After it's calmed down it goes into a very slightly spicy aroma but still retains most of the airy, fresh smells while adding a tiny bit of warmth to its scent. It's a very clean scent, but not "chemically" clean. I wouldn't say it ever really ventures into sexy, but that's not to say it's not a really nice smell. The warmth and spiciness would need to be a little more prominent for it to become something sexier but it doesn't quite manage it. The last few whiffs of this you'll get before this fades away is a very simple, sweet, flowery, but still manly smell. The whole smell of this makes me think of "that nice lad next door" type who you just want to pat on the head and smile at.
===Is it noticeable?===
Not really, no. It's nice, but it doesn't float around you like some other scents. This is one that people will only really only smell on close contact which, I guess, goes along with the name. If you're being intimate with someone, then they will smell it. If not, it's quite unlikely that anyone is going to notice this. Even my friends who are very huggable and thusly get as close to me as you can get without crossing the line into "intimate" haven't noticed this stuff. A bit of a let down really.
===How long does it last?===
Not incredibly long. I put this on at the start of the day and it's pretty much gone by the time I get home. If you go looking for it you might detect a hint that it was there, but mostly it just disappears. Not really sure what the point in a fragrance that doesn't last is, but there you go. There are a range of products such as deodorants and shower gels that can accompany this fragrance so it's possible if you go crazy and use them all it may last a little longer, but then that may be a little bit of overkill. That and it's £5.99 for a bottle of the deodorant so Beckham can get stuffed if he thinks I'm paying that for something that's not an industrial strength anti-perspirant..
This one is deceptive. You can pick up 50ml for about a tenner in most places which means it'd be £20 for 100ml. Not as "bargain-basement" as it first seems but still entirely on the cheap side of things. You'd probably end up needing to use a lot of the stuff since it's not very strong meaning you risk getting through this much quicker than other fragrances out there and therefore effectively bumping the price up for it to cover the same time period as stronger smelling smellies.
Some people may wish to know what's in this before they buy it, so for those people I'll include the ingredients list, feel free to do your own research on anything you find might be interesting in there. I don't have any skin allergies myself so I'm fine with it all. Obviously if you're allergic to anything listed, don't use it. Here's the list:
Alcohol Denat, Aqua/Water/Eau,iParfum/Fragrance, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, 1Limonene, Benzophenone-3, EthylhexyliSalicylate, Butylphenyl Mehtylpropional,iCoumarin, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane,iLinalool, Alpha -lIsomethyl Ionone, Hydroxycitronellal,iBenzyl Alcohol, PropylenelGlycol, BHT, Alcohol,lCitral, Tris (Tetramethylhydroxypiperidinol)lCitrate, Geraniol, Citronellol,iDisodium EDTA, Acrylates/OctylacrylamidelCopolymer, Hydrolyzed JojobaiEsters, FD&C YellowiNo. 6 (CIi15985), FD&C YellowiNo. 5 (CIi19140), EXT.D&C VioletiNo.2 (CI 60730)
I surprised myself with this one. I actually really liked it. It's a lovely smell with just enough warmth to keep me interested while making me smell clean and fresh. There are, however, a few downsides that will lose it points. It's not noticeable by most people after a couple of hours. It really doesn't last well at all and the amount you'd have to use to get it to stay would bump the costs right up. I'll be taking two stars off for that combo of disappointment. That leaves me giving three stars out of five. I would still, however, recommend giving it a bash. It'd be a nice one to apply just before a date or any event that will be happening soon and won't last long.
Having notched up a fair few points on my Boots Advantage Card over Christmas (enough for around £20) I decided to treat myself recently with a new fragrance. I chose this fragrance by David Beckham. I had received a couple of Beckham gift sets for Christmas and was impressed so tried this one in store. You can pick up a 50ml bottle of this from Boots for £19.93 at the moment. This particular fragrance was launched in 2009 and can also be found in a 30ml size bottle.
This fragrance has a citrus feel which is seductive from the first spray and subtly changes throughout the length of the scent. This is a masculine fragrance that also will attract women to the sexy oriental scent
Here is the lowdown on the various phases of this fragrance. This is a fragrance that would ideally suit the younger man and will also appeal to girlfriends or wives due to it's sexy nature. This is ideal for night and daytime wear and is subtle enough for everyday use. You can also find the accompanying Intimately Yours shower gel available which is a nice combination.
This fragrance features Top Notes of Blood Mandarin, Frozen Lemon and Crushed Leaves. I really like the opening of the fragrance as it has a nice & seductive feel which is there from the first spray. The opening lasts for around two to three hours before moving into the middle notes.
This fragrance then blends into a combination of an excellent trio of Absolute Sage, Lavender and Frozen Basil which continues the very pleasant nature of the fragrance. The middle notes last for around the same period before blending into the final bottom notes.
Now we end the fragrance with a more spicy feel thanks to the combination of Tonka Beans, Sandalwood and Vetiver. This also gives the fragrance a slightly more musky feel. The fragrance blends away after another two or three hours after leaving a modern and seductive finish.
This is an excellent fragrance for any young male and has been a very decent seller since it's release in 2009. A lot of people may buy this fragrance due to the David Beckham brand but rest assured there will be many people who like this fragrance for the way it smells. This is an excellent fragrance which only falls against the more expensive fragrances. If you are looking for a decent versatile fragrance for less than £20 then this could be the one for you. Go on try it and you may just like it enough to get a bottle. Another excellent Beckham fragrance.
Taking inspiration from the natural sophistication and powerful masculinity of David Beckham, Intimately Yours For Him is an elegant and sexy Oriental Citrus Aromatic.
