I bought my partner a bottle of the dvb Signature Eau de Toilette after spotting it on sale in Superdrug just before Christmas, I think you'll agree that £10.99 for a 75ml bottle of decent men's fragrance is bargainous - even if it does mean buying into 'Brand Beckham'.
The bottle when full is very attractive if a little simple in design; a chunky oblong with silver lid and a silver 'plaque' embossed with the name of the fragrance, as well as the ever-present dvb logo. The fragrance inside is a pinky lilac colour, designed to compliment the Signature for Her perfume bottle (because we all like to match bottles. Don't we?), which gives the bottle a more attractive edge than if clear or amber liquid had been used.
The spray top works well for the duration of the bottle of fragrance, spritzing a good amount out with each depression although not so much that you feel the product is being wasted. Even when the bottle is almost empty the spray manages to catch the final few drops - something JPG could learn from as my latest bottle of their perfume is stuck with a good half centimetre of fragrance in the bottle due to the fact that the spraying tube simply can't reach it!
As for the fragrance, well, I think it's delicious. Extremely masculine with none of the 'metro-sexual' tones I'd expect from a guy like David Beckham. It begins with a very woody fragrance but quickly mellows to create a gorgeously spicy oriental scent; there's a hint of sweetness which blends beautifully through the fragrance and enhances certain notes, but without it ever taking over and making it less masculine.
Signature has a fresh selection of top notes, with watermelon and the slightly salty tones of the sea. This means that the initial burst of fragrance is fairly muted, the notes mingle together to create a slightly fruity base on which the fragrance develops over time. The woodiness I mentioned earlier comes through after a few short minutes as a vaguely pine scent, enhanced by the richer scent of juniper which seems to build in the fragrance until it completely hides the initial fresh notes. This is the point at which Signature really comes into its own in my opinion; obviously I'm not the wearer as this is a male fragrance, but I can always tell when this 'juniper point' has been reached while Mark is wearing it.
Unfortunately this 'juniper point' doesn't last long and the final cloud that this fragrance produces is a rather insipid oriental burst, with pale hints of amber and a strange musky scent. I say strange because this musk is extremely synthetic and seems to detract from the more attractive notes that the fragrance has already displayed - musk, while usually sexy in a well designed female fragrance, is not always a good thing when added to the tail end of a more masculine scent. In this case it has been very badly done and for me (and Mark) has spoilt the overall togetherness of it - luckily it doesn't assault my nostrils for long as once the musk develops the fragrance very quickly dies away to nothing.
And here's the rub. A perfume can be the best thing you've ever smelled, but if it has a poor lifespan (as this one does) it's a waste of time and money. All of the variations I've mentioned above took place within the space of around two hours, and after this - nothing. It's a shame as this was such a bargain buy, and I love how good Mark smells while he's wearing it, but the fact that it does a complete disappearing act renders it useless. At the beginning of the wear Mark smells amazing, clouds of Signature envelope him and the waft of the fragrance is something I really like to smell whether we're at home or out. The problem is that Mark (like many men) won't reapply (or even notice) when the fragrance has worn off so really he needs something that's going to stick with him for the day - unfortunately this one doesn't, so even at a tenner is too costly in my opinion.
I recieved this as a gift for my birthday and wasnt sure at first because I am not a fan of his. However I grown to like it. It has a cool smell to it and the ladies love it too. Its long lasting and good quality. The price for this is at the average range but I can say its at a better that average Eau de Toilette. Fan of his or not you cant know this. This has always been my favourite and I always get compliments. It has a very strong smell to it so you dont even have to use much when putting it on. I can not recommend this highly enough and ladies its Christmas soon. If your not sure what to get, get this for him. Fan or not. You and he will love it.
The only disadvantage I can give is its not at the lower end of the price scale
I got a gift set of this scent for my Christmas from the in laws and so far have only used about a third of the bottle. I do have a few bottles open at the 1 time whereas I should just use the 1 bottle up. I can say what my wife says though as she has lots of bottles open at the 1 time and she says she has a lot of scents that she likes and she likes to change her scents depending on what smell she wants to smell of.
I got the 30ml bottle of this and also a Shower Gel. This was all boxed and looked quite expensive I thought. Looking online you can get this set pretty cheaply and I saw this for as low as £13.
The bottle for this is ok. In the picture it looks quite chunky but it is easy enough to hold and spray this. I would say that the bottle doesn't look all that expensive but it doesn't look cheap either. It is all very ok and a classic kind of looking bottle.
This has quite a few notes in it and I would say by the amount of them in here I would normally think that it is more Perfume that has all this in it. Most Aftershave i've used only has a few notes in it. The notes that are in here are Watermelon, Mandarin, Cypress, Patchouli, White Amber and Oakmoss.
After applying this and this warming to your skin I feel that it smells nice. It still smells Masculine, but there is a light sparkling scent mixing through this and it isn't quite as heavy as other Aftershaves that I have used. It makes a nice change and although I hadn't bought this myself it is the kind of scent that I go for.
This lasts a good time too and overall I feel that this is a good aftershave.
As a big fan of David Beckham I was interested to try his new range of fragrances for men when they came out a few years ago. Roll on to just before Christmas when I was asked by a mate what I would like for Christmas from him and I replied with a link to a David Beckham gift set. That gift set was the Signature fragrance which included a tube of shower gel as well as the eau de toilette. Before Christmas it was available for around £20 but when I met my mate in town yesterday he picked up one of these in Debenhams for just £10.
This particular fragrance was released in 2008 and has been one of the most successful fragrances in the Beckham range. As you can see from the picture, this fragrance is in a bottle which is a little different from most fragrances and for me it looks like a nice fragrance from the style of this bottle. This is a woody fragrance which has an oriental hint to it.
This "Signature" fragrance opens with the fresh and invigorating notes of mandarin and watermelon. I really like the opening notes and there's also a spicy hint of juniper berry. these blend togeher to give you a fruity kick and typically last a couple of hours before blending into the middle notes.
The aromatic, tropical flowering plant fresh living lantana opens the middle notes with a nice mix with the elegant cypress. This is a fruity yet masculine fragrance which again lasts a couple of hours before moving into the final base notes.
The fragrance dies down with notes of Oakmoss, White Amber And Patchouli. This results in a slightly musky ending to the fragrance and results in a nice character to the fragrance. The base notes tend to blend out after two to three hours.
This is an excellent fragrance overall which only loses ground compared to more expensive fragrances on the fact that it doesn't last as long as the majority of them. This is still however an excellent choice for any man who likes a nice fragrance and I am sure that it will go down well with females who smell the fragrance on you. This is a woody & oriental fragrance which is worth buying at the very reasonable price of £10 for a gift set. So why not pick up a post Christmas bargain?. I would recommend this fragrance for everyday wear as it's subtle enough for just about every ocassion. For me it's a fragrance for the younger man maybe between 16-40. Like the other fragrances in the David Beckham brand this is an affordable luxury fragrance which smells like a fragrance that could be more expensive.
I bet loads of women wanna have a sniff to see what beckham wears. Does he wear his own fragrance and how good does it smell on him. Thats kind of how I ended up with a bottle of beckham signature and I think its much better than you would think it was.
I know the poor bloke gets a lot of stick but in the case of the fragrance he has done a good job and not scored an own goal. This fragrance is very easy to wear and I think most men will like it. I do.
The price of this one is good and it can be bought cheap in places like superdrug. I think my bottle wasn't much more than £15. I think thats great for a fragrance as good as this one. The bottle looks great with a sleek look that I liked a lot, it was easy for me to use as well.
Don't be put off by it being a beckham brand aroma because its great. The smell is fresh and oriental and its great for wear for day or nights as well. I have had a lot of good comments about this one and when I say what it is people are surprised by it. The freshness is very good when this it on you at first.
There is a good mix of stuff in this and the patchoulli and amber make it last a long time to give it a good base. I am no expert on this stuff but I know that the aroma is great and very good for most situations. I never had to use much of this to make it last and that was anther great thing about this one.
I would recommend this and suggest you give it a chance. Its a great fragrance better than you might think and will last a long time. For about £15 you can get 30mls and its not much more to get 50mls. Check out the gift sets that are out now they have body stuff in them too. I will get this one again in future.
I am not usually one for buying something based upon brand, but because the former England captain was associated with this fragrance I decided to give it a try. At only £15 for a 75ml bottle I thought it was priced favourably against other fragrances at the time and it wouldnt leave me too out of pocket if it wasnt any good. The fragrance is what can only be described as woody and it does have a feminine scent to it also. The bottle is quite stylish with a silver colour plate on the front with 'dvb Beckham Signature' inscribed on it.
The eau de toilette is purple which also gives it that feminine touch which I think david beckham has tried to achieve. I think that most male fragrances usually slot into one of two categories. Some aim to be very masculine and others target consumers who feel that men believe a feminine scent is more attractive to women. Beckham is well known for being in touch with his feminine side and this fragrance certainly lives up to his reputation. I would say that for the price this fragrance is good value for money, although I found that the scent doesnt last a whole day so it could be used to wear on an evening on a night out.
David Beckham has long been known for his excellent football skills and his charity work but as his playing career draws to a close he has moved into new avenues with one of his best known and most successful ventures being his fragrance offerings. Following in the line of his successes with his previous offerings Beckham now offers up Signature for Men but does it manage to be upto the standards set by previous fragrances in the Beckham range?
This new offering has been developed by perfumer Beatrice Piquet and is another in the line of woody oriental fragrances in the Beckham range but this one has gone down the road of being a fresher fragrance with notes of mandarin, watermelon, marine notes, fresh living lantana, cypress, juniper berry, moss, sensual white amber and patchouli allowing for a fragrance suited to the confident and ambitious man about town.
This is one of those fragrances that is going to smell excellent on some people but not on others and for myself it smells excellent but unfortunately does not have the lasting power of some of my more loved fragrances. The fragrance is in great packaging and comes in 30ml (£23.00 rrp), 50ml (£32.50 rrp) and 75ml (£34.00 rrp) which makes it an excellent option for the younger male family member you are looking to pick up a present for.
Overall a nice fragrance that for me does not last well enough but if you are ok with re-applying a few times then you will get an excellent quality fragrance in your collection that suits going out without being overly formal as it is confident and fresh.
I bought this fragrance for my husband as I could not find the one that he wanted and we were both pleasantly suprised. The smell is quite strong , so you do not have to put on to much, and it lasts for a long time, I could smell it on my husband all day. It has a slightly spicey, exotic smell to it, which to me made it different from others on the market. Everytime he wears it he gets people asking him what it is because they like it, believe me it works well for the ego of a man in his early 40's to be getting compliments from young ladies on the fact they smell nice. I would definitly give this a big thumbs up. A definite must for all those men out there who would love to be David Beckham, well at least now they can smell like him too. Well it works for posh.
The scent of perfection and fame adds up all in one little bottle of David Beckham's perfume Instinct. The perfume holds the exotic smell of England as well as anything you'd imagine the Beckhams' to be. As people say sometimes it takes all the senses to for sure understand the complexion of what you bought, have or know of.
I bought David's perfume in Fred Myer for about twenty something dollars, I mean I just couldn't resist. Obviously I wouldn't use a men's fragrance so I gave the cologne to my brother who enjoyed it very much. I's interesting how much scent can do, I mean if you really think about it, most of your likings and disliking depend on the scent, right? I mean if a sweater you saw in the store smelled like rotten eggs surely you wouldn't buy it and wear it. And then again if you see a hot David Beckham with a bottle of cologne, I mean surely you'll smell it and fall in love with it.
