I received my 30ml bottle of Davidoff Cool Water Wave perfume free when my husband bought me a subscription to Glamour magazine for my birthday last year. Despite always liking the men's Davidoff fragrance range I had never tried any of the women's fragrances. I think the simplicity of the bottle and the quite modern look it had put me off slightly. For some reason I also had the impression it would be a sickly sweet perfume. Preconceptions aside I was very pleased to receive my perfume and was interested in giving it a try.
The perfume comes in a tall, slim, white box with a blue "wave" at the bottom and dark blue writing. The bottle is again tall and slim in a tear shape. It is made of blue glass which fades from a dark blue at the top to a light blue at the bottom. The lid is dark blue plastic and there is a band of silver coloured metal between the lid and the bottle. As I have already said, the overall appearance is quite simple and modern. I do think the fading blue design is pretty and the bottle does look sleek but the look is a little too modern for my taste. I tend to prefer a classic design.
The scent of this perfume includes top notes of passion fruit, mango, guava and water melon. I wouldn't have been able to pick out these individual fruits but I do think the fragrance smells light, tropical and fruity. The heart notes are peony, freesia and heliotrope. Again I would be very impressed if someone could pick out these flowers individually but I definitely get a sweet floral smell. I had thought this perfume would be too sweet for me but this is not the case at all. I think this is because the base notes are pink peppercorn, iris wood, sandalwood, amber and musk. These give the perfume a deep, spicy and musky smell. On its own this would probably be too masculine but mixed with the fruity and floral tones the overall effect is a beautiful feminine scent. It is light and fresh but at the same time has a rich depth to it. This quickly became one of my favourite perfumes for everyday use and another big positive of this perfume is that the scent stays with you all day and I am often complemented on my perfume when I wear this.
The standard price for a 30ml bottle is £20.55 or for a 50ml bottle £29.50. I think this is a very reasonably priced perfume. I have also seen it at 1/3 off in boots several times and usually buy a few when I see this offer as it makes a lovely gift.
My bottle will run out soon and I will definitely be buying another. It may not be my favourite bottle to look at but I really love the smell and I think it is fantastic value for money.
Davidoff Cool Water Wave EDT......
Both Himself and I are big fans of Davidoff Cool Water and it is a fragrance we have bought on and off for years. This Davidoff Wave EDT for women is a branch off from that ever popular fragrance and me being me, I couldn't help but buy it!
At the moment you will find it is on a great half price special offer in Boots and for a 30 ml bottle (which is the one I have) it is a mere £10.22 pence with of course the usual selling price being a little over £20. The offer makes it quite a bargain and I don't think it was this price when I purchased my bottle.
The design of the bottle is nothing overly special and is rather similar to the basic design of the classic Cool Water perfume. The bottle is made of blue glass with the lid and the top of the bottle being a darker blue then the colouring changing to a lighter more aqua tone working its way to the bottom of the bottle. It is a simple shape and the lid is easy removed to reveal the squirt action pump.
A couple of pumps of the EDT is really all you need for a good smell and good long lasting coverage. I like to put one on each wrist and then a couple of squirts on my neck and the fragrance is still with me at the end of the working day which is really good.
The smell of the Cool Water Wave is very appealing indeed. It has a fresh and unique aroma which is filled with a fruity burst of top notes including mango and passion fruit which then gives way to heart notes of sweet floral scents with a little bit of spice thrown in for good measure. There are also hints of Amber, Sandle wood and slight muskiness which I feel makes the scent last for a good time throughout the day.
I feel that the perfume could really be worn for any occasion but is much more a daytime summer wear as it is light and fresh and sensually feminine.
I really like the perfume and a little bit of it certainly goes a long way which is why I seem to have had the bottle for so long. I would highly recommend it to anyone and would recommend getting down to Boots for that half price offer as it is a bargain.
All in all I think it is a 5 out of star product which I will certainly be buying again.
Many thanks for taking the time to read.
I do hope that this has been of some help/interest to you.
I received a sample spray bottle of Davidoff Cool Water Wave a while ago and forgot about it, but when I came across it recently I thought it would be handy to put in my handbag to carry about with me, rather than lugging a huge bottle around.
I don't think this would have been a perfume I would have chosen for myself, as I vaguely recall trying the original Davidoff cool water perfume and not being overly keen on it.
The Cool Water Wave comes in a tall bottle, which although similar to the Cool Water perfume, is a slightly sleeker shape, and I think an overall nicer looking design. It's a light blue colour at the bottom, which graduates up to a darker blue at the top. I do like feminine, girly perfume bottles, so this is perhaps not my favourite bottle ever, but it's OK, and I wouldn't mind having it on display.
The top notes of this perfume are watermelon, mango, passion fruit and guava. On first spraying the perfume, you will instantly notice the fresh, fruity scent, which almost seems to have a summer warmness to it. The overall impression I get is that this is like a tropical fruit cocktail, which bizarrely seems to be coupled with the scent of the ocean. I think it could be more that the fact it reminds me of the summer, which makes me think that, but if we ever manage to have a hot day (or if I ever find a sexy man to take me on holiday - it's looking unlikely, but we can all dream), I can imagine that this scent would be perfect for the beach.
Davidoff say the middle notes of the perfume are peony, freesia and heliotrope. I know peony and freesia are floral, but doubt I'd be able to pick them out individually. Heliotrope, however sounds to me like something you'd get included in a geometry set, so I had to look that one up! A google search tells me that it is a fragrant purple flower, so I was expecting very floral middle notes with this perfume.
I found that once the perfume had settled on my skin, and the middle notes started to come through, the scent to me was more a leafy greenness than floral. It's hard to describe, but it was a sort of sharp green scent which is nice, and again, really fresh.
The base notes of the perfume are pink peppercorn, iris wood, sandalwood, amber and musk. Again, out of that list I'm not sure I could identify each scent individually, and this is the first I've heard of pink peppercorns! The base notes, are however, as you may expect from that description, slightly spicy and a little bit musky - but still feminine at the same time.
As for staying power, I've found this to be excellent. It really does last and last, and I can smell it when I'm wearing it, which is great, as some others, such as my Calvin Klein Eternity Summer, seem to disappear ten minutes after I've applied it.
A 30ml bottle of this will cost just £21 from Boots, but you may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.
So in conclusion, this is a lovely summer scent, it's fresh and summery, and if it wasn't for the fact we're about to head into winter, I would buy myself the full sized bottle straight away.
It was a review for an entirely different perfume by another reviewer which set me off on a scented journey and ended in the purchase of Cool Water Wave and Freeze Me too.
After reading a mouthwatering review for Ghost I was curious to see if I could get a sample and try it for myself, by wandering the internet I found that my favourite fragrance house had two new releases.
Now, I've worn Davidoff Cool Waters for around 6 years. I had a miniature bottle in a gift set one year, took it to Egypt with me and loved the clean fresh smell I became hooked. Even now when I put it on I get an evocative rush of Egypt memories.
It's common knowledge now that smells register in the memory in a unique way and perfumes can make a permanent impression, so for me, having anything that bears relation to Cool Waters is going to be a plus.
I tried Davidoff Game, liked it though found it doesn't do the head rush of Egypt, which is fine, it reminds me of a period of dating though.
With this in mind I set off for Boots to find Ghost and Freeze Me.
Great, all in stock, plenty of samples bottles and cards to be enjoyed, no problems.
As soon as I sprayed Wave on a card I was hooked. I can smell the essence of Cool Waters behind the variation which makes the scent Wave and it's somehow slightly sweeter but still clean smelling with a fruit and soap tang.
The scent mixture is:
Top: Watermelon. Passion fruit , mango and guava
Heart: pink peppercorn.
Base: Sandalwood , Iris wood , Amber , Musks
There are numerous extras available, shower gel, body cream etc, though not in my local Boots, though I didn't mind since there was a great promotion on. Priced originally at £25 there was an offer of £14.75 which I was very happy to indulge in.
Adding to my happy shopping spree there was also an offer on Freeze Me at £12.50 but with a lovely bonus was only £6.50 at the cash register for both male and female scent, a huge improvement on the original £25.00 price tag!
You can buy the toilette spray in two sizes and it comes in a co-ordinating box depicting the colour blend and the Davidoff logo etc
For me Davidoff Cool Waters will be a scent which will always remind me of 2003 onwards and I'm happy with that, Wave will join the fragrance group as a part of those memories and I'll always love the scent now.
I'd recommend this as a great gift for now, especially if you get to Boots pronto!
