I was bought this product for my birthday last year as a gift from one of my friends and I have almost used all of the bottle since she bought me it last December. I was happy to receive it because I hadn't tried it before and was a good way of wearing it as a newbie to this product.
It is a nice bottle and is a good enough design to place on my dressing table. It isn't overly attractive but nice enough in my opinion. The smell is more important to me than the sight of the bottle.
It sprays a nice even mist onto the skin which is quite light and dries really quickly, it doesn't leave that wet feeling for too long on the skin. It has a nice smell to it and the best way I can describe it is of being a fruity scent which is quite refreshing and light and smells like the summer time and a nice refreshing scent for a summer spray.
It also has a slight floral scent to it and I think in my opinion it has a nice mixture of floral and a fruity fragrance and one which smells really pleasant with the 2 scents and not too overpowering. Also smells musky which I do like a lot too but I find the musky scent isn't so apparent until a hour or so of spraying and it releases the musky scent later rather than immediately it is sprayed onto the skin, this is how sense the musky scent and only how I actually smell it and my opinion. It simply smells nicer immediately when spraying and just releases a nice fragrance as the hours pass by.
It is a fairly strong scent and one which does last for a long time. It does last most of the day if spraying it in the morning and by the evening the scent is still apparent but not quite as strong. It is a nice feminine scent too and nice and girly, I am a feminine, girly girl and I love this one that's for sure.
It is also a slightly sweet smell but not quite as sweet as some other branded fragrances. The sweetness of this one is fairly subtle but pleasant. I do like a sweet smelling aroma on my skin and this one is just about right for an evening or daytime spray with this sweetness.
I have had some nice comments when I have sprayed this one before going out for the day or evening. I don't use this spray for days when I am staying indoors and not going out that day because I like to save my more expensive sprays for going out occasions and this one is nice for a special occasion in my opinion.
If you like a nice floral, musky fruity fragrance I think you would like this spray. It would be suitable to wear anytime of the day but my preference is to only wear this one when I go out somewhere other than just popping to the shops casually. I have worn it to go into town when I have been shopping for the day and stopped off for something to eat etc.
I have a 100ml bottle and I have checked online and found it is priced for as little as £9.99 up to around £20 so I do think it varies in price and does surprise me how much difference price wise this one happens to be from where bought. I think the quality of the spray is super too.
I think it would make a super gift for a loved one and I think they would be more than happy to receive it for a Christmas gift or birthday. I was more than happy to receive it for my birthday and pleased my friend bought me it or I would never have probably bought it myself but I would most definitely buy it for myself in the future now I know how it smells and liking the fragrance. A lovely spray in my collection of sprays.
I don't think you would be disappointed buying this spray and I highly do recommend it to others wanting a nice smelling spray.
I give this spray 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review and I hope it has been of some help.
The Davidoff range is quite good in general, Ive used several other types of perfume they do and I decided to try the cool water wave about 18 months ago when I got a £5 off perfume for boots.
Now boots were (and I believe still are) selling this for £10.27 half price, in November 2011 I got a £5 off perfume voucher, which I used to buy this with so I got 30ml perfume for £5.27, which I thought was a very good price. I think even at £10.27 this is still a good price for what you get. It is also available in other retailers but I think boots is the cheapest.
It comes in a white box with the name on the front, its easy to open and clearly shows the perfume name. The bottle is fairly tall shades of blue glass and the lid comes off easy. The bottle does look very nice.
I think its more of a day wear fragrance but it would also suit night time wear. Its not over powering but still lasts very well. This smell is subtle but sweet, there is tones of fruit and a slight musky smell which combined works well on the skin and lasts all day and night.
Who for -
This is definitely suited to all ages especially those who do like summer fragrances as this is a very good summer scent. It is similar to Davidoff cool water its sister fragrance so for those who like that I would recommend giving cool water wave a try as its slightly sweeter where as cool water is more musky.
I had never heard of Davidoff doing women's fragrances until I received this perfume as a gift.
This perfume comes in a tall slender bottle with graduating blue colours on the glass. They have kept the writing on the bottle minimal, naming only the perfume, keeping the rest of the perfume information on the box. The box has a similar elegant look and feel to it as the bottle using muted colours and tones. The bottle is a good shape and easy to hold whilst applying the perfume.
Wave has a floral, musky smell to it, with base notes of amber, musk and sandlewood which is the lasting scent you are left with after applying. The perfume also has a sweet, slightly fruity smell when first applied and I believe this is down to the top notes the company states of "watermelon, guava, mango and passion fruit. These top notes do fade very quickly though.
I find that this perfume can be quite over powering when first applied and for the first short while, but does tend to die down very quickly, and for someone who likes their perfume to be apparent throughout the day this perfume will have to be applied quite a number of times throughout the day as it does not have very good staying power.
This perfume is moderately priced at around £30 for a 50ml bottle depending on where you purchase it. For this price however I would have liked it to have a little more staying power on your skin once it is applied. Overall, it is a very fresh scent which can be overpowering for some.
~ Whats so Cool about this Water? ~
There was a time when I would never have given the Davidoff range of womens fragrances a second glance, I hadn't sampled them and wasn't interested in them at all. I have to admit that I was only lured into buying this particular fragrance as I had a £5 off voucher from a well known retailer that was burning a whole in my pocket. As it turned out Davidoff Cool Water Wave for Women was amongst the most bargainous buys that could be had and thats why I bought it blind thinking that even if it turned out to be an unremarkable scent it wouldn't be a great loss.
As it turned out the fragrance once out of the box was rather nice and I was more than pleased with my purchase. Since then I have bought it again and also used the matching body products that compliment it to give a lovely fresh yet sweet and musky layered effect that prolongs the time that the fragrance remains on my skin. I have found that this Davidoff fragrance is more than just a bottle of Cool Water, as the slinky and sleek bottle hides a very aromatic blue and fresh melon toned scent that is uplifting and easy to wear.
~ Look and Feel of the fragrance bottle and box~
The box that the fragrance comes in is a simple one which uses a mainly white background that has a touch of deep sea blue rising up from the base of the box softly fading towards the lower 1/3 into the white toned main colour. The fragrance name is in a bold deep blue script on the front, with the Davidoff name sitting along the top of that. I feel that the overall look is classic yet modern and will not alienate any age group. I do feel that the box has a slight unisex air to it, which I feel works in this instance as the fragrance itself could in fact be considered a unisex scent with its bold opening notes.
The bottle that the Cool Water Wave fragrance comes in is rather nice. I would say it has a slightly straightened teardrop look to it which I like. Its very sleek, smooth and tall and is wider at the base than at the top which makes for a bottle that isn't easily knocked over in spite of it being tall, as there is some weight to it. The deep sea blue theme is full on and works in reverse order, being a paler toned sky blue at the base deepening to a dark and moody blue at the top. The silver toned spray applicator is easy to use and just one firm press down on it sprays on a good amount of the fragrance. The deep blue plastic lid covers the spray applicator when its not in use and can help to protect from spills and accidental sprays if you pop the bottle into your bag when out and about.
~Let those Cool Water Waves wash over you~
Having just sprayed some of the Cool Water Wave on to remind myself what its like I have to say that I feel this is a fragrance of two parts. On the one hand the opening notes are bold and loud with a lovely cool blue freshness that is enhanced by a fruity melon infusion. There is an instant tangy sharpness that is very refreshing and could be taken for a unisex scent that both a man and woman could wear equally as well. This is soon followed within a matter of a few minutes by a sweeter floral accord which begins to soften and give off a more feminine vibe. Its actually amazing how quickly this happens once the fragrance has dried down on my skin, the sweetness arrives almost in an instant and it feels like a completely different fragrance altogether.
Although watermelon, mango, guava and passion fruit are there in the opening burst of the fragrance they are very soon over taken by the deeper floral blend which follows on from them and I rather like the contrast that gives me. The sweet florals within the Cool Water scent are freesia, peony and helliotrope and even though I cannot separate one from another, I feel that they do make a very nice composition which I enjoy. These florals fade all too quickly again and within less than half an hour you are left with a more musky, sweet yet slightly melon scented mix, that still has the remains of what went before within its make up. The musky tones within the base of Cool Water Wave Woman are lovely. Pretty pink peppercorn adds a spiced tone and iris wood, sandalwood, amber and musk follow along giving a strong base to the floral sweetness that comes and goes in soft waves.
~Longevity, Price and Rating!~
Having worn Cool Water Wave Woman almost every other day since I opened the fragrance I have to say that I have used it rather liberally. The lovely fragrance does die off all too quickly even though it smells as if it will remain on your skin for many hours, sadly is doesn't perform as it promises. I have found that I have sprayed it on once or twice more during the course of the day to keep it topped up, which means that the contents of my 30ml bottle has gone down to half of what it was in less than a month. I feel that had I paid closer to the full retail price of £19.99 for 30mls of the fragrance, I may have used it less often or perhaps still used it and been disappointed that it had dwindled so swiftly. As I was lucky enough to have paid much less, I feel I have had excellent value for money with this and I certainly haven't felt it was so precious that I dare not spray a little more on.
As far as rating Davidoff Cool Water Wave Woman, I feel I do need to take into account the price paid verses the longevity of the fragrance and the enjoyment it provided when I wore it. As I feel it has a lovely two toned side to it that changes dramatically over time, I have found it to be a very nice scent that I know can be worn for day or evening wear. The fragrance is distinctive and begins with a rather unisex air to it, however once it softens it becomes a sweeter more feminine blend that is very wearable for women of all ages. It is far better than I thought it would be when I purchased it and I have been pleased with my choice. With all this in mind I feel that the fragrance deserves a 4 star rating, had it lasted just a little longer it may have done a little better.
The fresh feminine expression of Cool Water, full of personality and sensuality. Cool Water Wave Woman begins with fresh fruit top notes of watermelon, mango, passion fruit and guava over floral mid notes of peony, freesia, and heliotrope. The scent finishes on base note of pink peppercorn, iris wood, sandalwood, amber and musk.
