I love Diesel clothing and their accessories for men with almost every fiber of my fashionable soul, but I was reluctant to try a Diesel fragrance. As a former perfumer, I'm always skeptical about designer fragrances. In my opinion, nothing compares to anything by Chanel, but I was pleasantly surprised by Diesel's fragrances. Most of the ones for men have heavy base notes of cedar and teak, they are very woody with hints of light musks, probably to anchor some of the lighter wood scents down. The middle (or heart) notes are floral, but still stick with that woody, spicy floral theme - perhaps a hint of Ylang Ylang, Patchouli (base note and middle note) and for the top notes, I detected definite spices and or amber - mixtures of vanilla and myrrh - perhaps a little cinnamon.

As I stated, I was surprised at what wonderfully different creations Diesel has come up with as far as fragrances, even since "Fuel for Life." All of them carry the heavy scent of cedar and are perfect for any man. The scent is very masculine and very attractive. It's not powdery like Gaultier's Le Male - It's manly. It reminds me of an equestrian just back from riding, with that leathery, sweaty, outdoors scent that would drive almost anyone up a bed post!
