Diesel Fuel Life Unlimited Eau de Parfum
by topsyturvy
I was given this perfume as a gift, like most of my perfumes and to be honest, I am not a big Diesel fan so wasn't sure at first if I would like it. This fragrance was launched in 2008 so it isn't a new fragrance at all but having never tried a Diesel perfume I wasn't sure what it'd be like. This is described as being a sophisticated ... perfume and to be honest by looking at it, I got that impression too but I am not a fan of heavier fragrances so didn't want it to be too overpowering. I know there have been a few Fuel For Life fragrances in the Diesel range but I never really hear much about them or see them advertised so when I got this, it was the first time I'd come across it.
PACKAGING
This fragrance comes in a gold box and it is quite mysterious looking I'd say, the bottle is an oval kind of shape with golden tinted glass and a net round it, it has the Diesel logo and the name of the scent and you can see the perfume level through it. It has a chain hanging around the neck of the bottle and it has a gold lid, it comes in a 30ml and 50ml, I have the 50ml. I think by looking at the packaging, this strikes me as a night time fragrance as it looks quite dark and special, it also gives off a glamorous look to it with the gold and it does stand out as being different from other bottles. It seems like a young design but the perfume itself, I'm not so sure.
DIESEL FUEL FOR LIFE UNLIMITED
I would say this perfume is quite fresh and floral upon spraying it at first, it is heavy as well but has a soapy scent too. I like the fact that it is quite a feminine scent and I pick up on a very faint sweetness. I only needed to spray it once and it seemed to give off enough of a scent to make it nice, the more it seems to fade into the skin, I'd say the sweeter it becomes, it is not a young scent, I'd say somewhere inbetween and even older, I have never used a Diesel perfume before so cannot compare it to any others but it is quite unique and being an eau de parfum it is slightly stronger so for me it'd definitely be more appropriate for the evening.
The more it fades into skin though, the more musky and older it becomes and for me, I feel it is too old for me as I am in my twenties and it ages me. It is described as being sexy but I cannot agree, it is also heavy and just not my kind of scent. This has top notes of golden fruits and I can pick up on the slight fruity notes but they are very subtle, the heart notes are spices which again are not very strong to me but maybe they are what give me the idea of the musky smell. Lastly, the base notes are woody with hints of peach and yes the woody notes are probably the most apparent and the peachy notes I could faintly smell.
It is a very unusual combination of notes but I am not so sure that they all compliment one another as the scent goes off in a lot of directions and doesn't create the nicest of smells. I think a small spray is enough and it is heavy so I don't find that I ever need to top it up when I am out as it seems to last for a while. It is still an evening sort of fragrance but maybe a dinner date or something like that. I have to be honest, since getting this, I haven't really used it that much as I don't pick it over my other perfumes, it is just too heavy and too musky for me and that is not to my taste, maybe other Diesel scents may be different but the packaging was misleading to me.
This is definitely a scent for the older woman, unless you are younger and like a heavier scent. It'll last you a while as you don't need to use too much of this while wearing it. My favourite thing about this perfume is the bottle, I don't mean to sound negative as each to their own in terms of scents but this just doesn't tick my boxes. I don't know if I'd try a Diesel fragrance again after this one as it hasn't impressed me, my main problem is that I feel the notes just don't work well together and that is why the smell is just too old fashioned. This perfume has been out a while though and maybe for me I like a more modern and fresh scent.
COST
This perfume can be purchased online and in all department stores, the Perfume Shop are selling the 30ml EDP for £38.50 or the 50ml EDP for £48.50, it is about average in terms of cost.

Diesel Loverdose Eau de Parfum
by Sylvestrix
I'll be the first to admit, I didn't expect to be keen on this fragrance at all. The marketing didn't appeal to me, coming off as just a tad tacky, and the blurb about having 'hypothalmus stimulating molecules' really did have me rolling my eyes. The bottle is nice, although looks a little too like it belongs with Vera Wangs fragrances, ... and it was only on the grounds of having another vaguely interesting bottle on my shelf that I gave this a try, not expecting much.
On first spraying, Loverdose doesn't smell like anything special. After the instant 'chemical' smell fades away, the best way I could describe the initial scent would be 'nice'. Just nice; not great, but certainly not awful. It starts out quite sweet, with a generally warm scent. But then comes liquorice- and there we have what made me change my mind about this fragrance.
It's a strong scent, almost 'sherbetty' against the soft vanilla tones, and completely makes this perfume for me. As for lasting power, after sitting on the skin for an hour or two, it does mellow down, smelling almost like star anise, but I love that initial liquorice burst, so I reapply frequently. Your mileage may vary, but I've found I can't really trace the scent on my skin after the five hour mark, but it lasts well on my clothing. The sillage is minimal, for me, with the fragrance staying close to the skin- I particularly like that, as I'm not keen on my perfume entering a room before I do!
Overall, this scent may not be the most innovative or exciting release, but for a perfume I was expecting to out-and-out dislike, it's snuck up on me, and I find myself reaching for it often. Read the complete review |

Diesel Loverdose Eau de Toilette
by wazza115
For the last couple of years, one of my favourite fragrances has been Loverdose by Diesel. It was launched in late 2011 and lucky for me, Santa brought me some that year and I have worn ever since.
I tend to always buy the perfume however in the sales, I brought a gift set of EDT in error, not really understanding what the ... different between EDT or EDP was (although I have now learnt that EDP contains more perfume concentrates making it stronger).
Accordingly to basenotes.com, the fragrance is as follows:
Top notes: Mandarine Orange, Star Anise
Middle notes: Liquorice, Gardenia, Jasmine
Base notes: Vanilla, Wood, Amber
Upon first spray, what struck me what that this was nowhere near as strong as the EDP, it is very light indeed. The first fragrance that I can detect is floral, I don't tend to like floral fragrances however this doesn't smell too old fashioned, and this then subsides to leave a nice fruity and vanilla hint. Although this isn't too strong, it does have a lot of staying power, towards the end of the day, I can still smell the fragrance on my clothes and several people have commented on how nice the fragrance is.
I know how good a fragrance is when people ask me 'ooh, what perfume are you wearing', I have had several people at work as me this and comment how nice it is.
The bottle has quite a funky design; it comes in a purple chiselled bottle which resembles a heart shape, running through the middle of the bottle is the spray tube which is designed to look like an arrow through the heart. Because of the bottles chiseled effect, it doesn't have a base and can be placed back on my shelf in the bathroom at any angle (and I don't have to worry about accidentally banging it and knocking it over).
It comes in three different sized bottles; 30ml which retails for approximately £30, 50ml which costs around £45 and 75ml which retails for around £60 . After Christmas, the gift sets of these tend to be reduced to half price (I have spotted this is the case in John Lewis, Debenhams and Boots) so I tend to stock up then as you can get a 50ml bottle of EDT and at least 100ml body lotion for around £25 making this an absolute bargain!!.
Because this is a lot lighter than the EDP, I do find that I end up straying more on than I would expect and therefore a 50ml bottle doesn't last me very long.
Overall, I would thoroughly recommend this fragrance, I find that the EDT is just a bit too light so I would prefer the EDP and adjust the amount I apply, but I do lover everything else about this, therefore I would give 4 out of 5 stars.
