Advantages: smells wonderful, this scent lingers on your skin

Disadvantages: bottle a bit unsexy, pricey (but then its Dior, you get what you pay for!)

Over the past few years, family friends and my boyfriend have tended to buy me "Pure Poison" by Christian Dior under the impression that it was my favourite perfume of all time. It was - up until about six months ago where I wore it so much that the thought of wearing it once again for an evening out was just annoying! I loved the sexy smell, and I had one more bottle lined up still in its wrapper come this Christmas. It had got to a point where I couldn't stand the smell any longer, and I was desperate for a new perfume!

Determined to set the record straight with anyone who dared to buy me perfume again for Christmas, I went out for a smelling session in boots to work out my new fragrance. Maybe I would avoid Dior....? Nope. Smelling this scent has made me fall in love with Dior fragrances all over again. I immediately told my mum that she could buy me either Dior Addict or Dior Shine as they both smelt wonderful. Come Christmas day, I had a lovely new bottle of Dior Addict to keep me smelling Dior perfect....

The Bottle
========

Not the best design in the world, my bottle is a slim blue column, "Dior Addict" is written discreetly on the tip of the bottle and it has a gold coloured round pump on the top. Very basic, very functional to use, but not as girly as their other designs. Perhaps it is more classic. Either way, it doesn't take up too much room on my dressing table, (it's just a 50ml spray bottle) but it doesn't look as attractive as my other perfume bottles either! The packaging which the bottle comes in however, is much more attractive, it has that pure poison silver shiny-ness about it. Sadly, this is a waste of resources and the box always gets chucked in the recycling bin, not even shiny cardboard will make me keep it!

The Scent Test
===========

Gorgeous. I've come to associate Dior fragrances with sexy, musky tones, perfect for the evenings and this one delivers just as Pure Poison delivered for me years ago when I started wearing it. I've never been a huge fan of floral fragrances (although I do own a bottle of Ralf Lauren Romance which I love for the daytime) so the musky heavy scents are definitely a firm favourite.

Having said that, Dior's website mentions that the top notes of this scent are mandarin, a citrus note which should give off a fruity floral vibe. I cannot really say this is what I would associate with this perfume.

However, the Base scent is Vanilla, and this is what you really smell when getting a waft of this fragrance. It's much sweeter than the mandarin scent, and it smells rich and musky (not in an old man musky way if you are thinking that!). I don't think Vanilla is a scent that blends in to the background and this scent stays on my skin a long while. Four hours after I first applied this to my wrists and neck, I can still smell it and my colleagues are always complimenting me on it - this might be because it's been a long time since I have worn a different fragrance!

The Dior website also describes this perfume as an oriental scent which I can agree with, it has a certain spiciness that makes it perfect for winter evenings out. Perhaps not one to wear during the day - firstly it's too good to waste for everyday wear to work but secondly, it is quite overpowering. It is probably a scent that is too overpowering for some and probably shouldn't be bought as a gift for someone who hasn't tried it on their own skin before, it's fairly strong and I would imagine you would either love it or hate it!

Personally, I'm a huge fan, and once again, Dior has kept me in their customer lists when it comes to fragrances. A beautiful, sweet evening scent which I just adore. I'll buy it again that's for certain!

** Dior Addict (50ML) Bottle sells from between £38-£44 **

Summary: Sexy scent x

Sounds lovely.

I too have a few relatives who always buy me the same perfume as they're convinced I love it, in reality I have bottles of it store unopened in the bedroom!
