Diptyque is a French company, based originally in Paris which makes and sells perfume, home fragrances, scented candles and soaps. Their candles come in a huge range of fragrances, usually single note. Their perfumes are a bit more complex than just one smell.

Opone is described, romantically by Diptyque like this: "Rounding the cape where spices are grown, under full sail, bound for the fragrant gardens of roses and saffron." A very evocative description that actually does justice to the smell. You definitely smell the note of rose, but the addition of saffron to the perfume has made somehow softened and "de-floralised" the perfume a bit, making the overall smell warmer, richer and more woody.

This is a really beautiful, interesting and unique perfume and definitely worth investigating if you want something you won't find lots of other people wearing.

As well as the shop in Paris, Diptyque has a few branches in London, in Ladbroke Grove, Brook Street and Marylebone High Street as well as being available in branches of Space NK up and down the country.

Summary: Worth trying if you want rose 'with a twist'
