DKNY Be Delicious Hearts NYC was released in 2012 along with three other fragrances in the range; Be Delicious Hearts London, Be Delicious Hearts Paris and Be Delicious Hearts Rio.
I saw these online a few weeks ago and ended up ordering the Paris, London and NYC fragrances. I have since tracked down and ordered the Rio fragrance, but it has not arrived yet.
I am a bit of a sucker for these sorts of collections. They're probably created with idiots like me in mind.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle is similarly designed to all of the other DKNY Delicious bottles.
It is rounded, but not spherical. The bottle sits quite low.
The bottom of the bottle is made from glass, but the top of the bottle is made from silver reflective plastic.
On the top of the bottle there is a triangular spray release button, also made out of the silver reflective plastic and the spray comes from a hole in the front of the silver plastic.
Around the edge of the silver top there are pictures of New York City's skyline in black print.
A green apple sticker is stuck to the side of the silver plastic with, 'DKNY Be Delicious' then a red heart shape underneath and then 'NYC' underneath the heart.
The perfume itself is a light green colour.
I like the bottle design. I love the idea of the skyline being pictured around the top of the silver lid.
~ Price and availability ~
The fragrance comes as a 50ml eau de parfum.
I haven't seen this fragrance in the shops recently.
It is available to order online. I ordered mine from www.thefragranceshop.co.uk where it was on sale along with the Paris and London fragrances for just £31.99 each (RRP £48.00).
It is available at the full price of £48.00 from www.harrods.co.uk or www.boots.com.
The fact that it is on their website, suggests that it may be available in larger Boots stores, where you should be able to try a tester.
~ Scent ~
This fragrance is light and refreshing.
It has top notes of magnolia, cucumber and grapefruit.
The heart notes are green apple, tuberose, violet, rose and lily of the valley.
The base notes are sandalwood, amber and blonde woods.
According to fragrantica.com, this perfume retains the original composition of DKNY Be Delicious perfume because it was originally created to encompass the spirit of the metropolis.
I have the original DKNY Be Delicious fragrance, which is supposed to have the same composition as this fragrance. I have tested them side by side and I find they are virtually identical, but to me the florals seem to be a bit harsher in this NYC version.
It opens with a strong scent of fresh green apples, which is really nice. The floral notes are also quite strong in this scent. I can detect the lily of the valley note, which is not really a scent I like as I find it quite sharp, but it is blended with other floral notes in this fragrance, which I think helps to tone it down.
The fresh cucumber and apple scents dominate this fragrance and they remain until the fragrance wears off.
It lasts on my skin for about 5 hours, which I don't think is great for an eau de parfum, but I have used perfumes that don't last as long.
I don't think anyone would find it offensive. It seems to be a well loved scent. Since the original DKNY Be Delicious (with the same composition as this) was released back in 2004 there have been over 30 different fragrances released off the back of its success.
I think it is probably aimed towards a younger market because of the bottle design and the whole 'hearts NYC' idea, but I think the scent would appeal to more mature women as well.
I wear this as a day time scent rather than for nights out or special occasions as it is quite light and I tend to lean towards heavier scents for night time wear.
~ Conclusion ~
I love this perfume. It is light, fresh, fruity and floral.
The staying power isn't too bad at around 5 hours, although it could be better.
I think it is suitable for women of all ages.
I also love the bottle design for this fragrance with many of New York's famous buildings pictured around the top.
I think the price I paid was very reasonable although I do think the recommended retail price, which most retailers charge is quite pricey at £48.00 for 50ml.
I would recommend this fragrance and I would consider buying it again if my bottle was to run out.
