DKNY Delicious Night is another recent addition to my fast growing perfume collection.
When I saw it was half price in Boots I couldn't resist.
~ Price and availability ~
My bottle was priced at £21.50 for a 50ml bottle in Boots, reduced from the recommended retail price of £43.00.
The 50ml bottle is also available from www.cheapsmells.com for £33.50.
It is also available in a 100ml bottle, which is available at tesco.com for £37.00 (recommended retail price £60.00).
~ Bottle ~
The bottle is similarly designed to all of the other bottles in the DKNY Delicious range.
It is rounded, but not spherical. The bottle sits quite low.
The bottom of the bottle is made from dark purple glass, but the top of the bottle is made from black plastic.
Looking online at this fragrance, many photos show it as having a purple plastic top and the glass of the bottle being a dark, but obvious purple, but this is not the case.
The glass on the bottom half of the bottle is very dark and unless it is held up to the light it actually looks black.
The plastic on the top half of the bottle is black, not purple as sometimes shown.
It has a triangular spray release button, which is on the top of the bottle and the spray comes from a hole in the front of the black plastic.
A pink and purple oval shaped apple sticker is stuck to the side of the black plastic with, 'DKNY Delicious Night 100% Pure New York' written on it.
I think the bottle should have a purple coloured plastic top as the whole bottle looks very dark, almost like a male fragrance.
~ Scent ~
Delicious Night was released in 2007 and is available as an eau de parfum.
It is a definite night time scent.
It has top notes of frosted pomelo, ginger, blackberry, pink freesia and martini.
The heart notes are night orchid, jasmine and pink iris.
The base notes are amber, frankincense, myrrh extract, patchouli and vetiver.
It is described as a floral oriental fragrance, which I would agree with. It has a spicy element which must be from the ginger, but it is not overpowering or offensive. I usually hate spicy scents, but I love this fragrance and I don't find it too harsh at all. This is quite a different scent from most of the other fragrances in my collection.
I can detect the blackberry, giving the scent a slightly sweet, sparkling fruitiness, which is dulled down a bit by the harsher floral notes and the amber. The ginger makes the fragrance quite heavy.
It is a deep, dark, sensual scent which has a real presence to it. I can often smell it on myself when I am wearing it.
It lasts on my skin around 5 hours, which is ok. I would have expected it to last a bit longer with it being so deep and heavy.
I think this scent would appeal to women of all ages. It is deep and dark so I think it would suit more mature women and I don't think it is too harsh for younger women and teens to enjoy.
~ Conclusion ~
I love this scent. It is quite different from anything else in my collection, having a spiciness to it, but it is not too harsh.
I think the bottle is quite masculine and looks very dark, but I like the shape.
It lasts on my skin around 5 hours, which isn't too bad.
It can be picked up at a reasonable price, but I think the recommended retail price is a bit high at £60.00 for 100ml.
I would recommend this fragrance and if it lasted a bit longer and had a less masculine bottle it would get the full 5 stars!
DKNY (Donna Karan New York) offer a range of fragrances. The 'Delicious' fragrances are influenced by New York (or its nickname 'The Big Apple').
'Delicious Night captures the magic of a dark city'
Delicious Night is marketed as being the 'evening' fragrance in the Delicious collection. It is available in an eau de parfum with no matching body products available to layer the scent. Delicious Night is influenced by New York at night time.
Delicious Night follows the same bottle design as the other Delicious fragrances. The bottle is shaped like an apple and is chunky and round. The base of the bottle is tinted purple and complete with a slanted purple lid with a push in sprayer. The bottle definitely appeals to be me and I can tell this is aimed at being an evening scent.
Delicious Night has been created using different fragrance combinations.
*Top notes offer the initial scent - blackberry, ginger and pomelo
*Heart notes create the main body of the scent - jasmine, iris and orchid
*Base notes round off the scent - vetiver, amber and patchouli
~Price and Availability~

I am a big fan of the DKNY Delicious fragrances as I love the apple shaped bottles! I loved the red and green scents so was pleased to use the Delicious Night. I do have specific fragrances set aside for various occasions and have a few evening scents in my collection. Delicious Night fits the evening theme perfectly in design and scent and I feel the price it is offered at is fair.
The bottle itself is very easy to use and a quick press down releases a generous amount of perfume onto my wrist and neck. I always feel special wearing this scent and it gives me a real confidence boost. From the moment I apply Delicious Night, the scent is favourable but there is not a single hint of apple like the other Delicious fragrances - it is more grown up and quite a sexy night time scent.
Delicious Night is highly fragranced on the skin at first and is quite sharp and heady. It settles within a few minutes and the individual fragrance notes can be picked out. They form a gorgeous blend on the skin which works so well yet they still keep their individual character which I appreciate. The blackberry addition allows the top notes to be deliciously sweet whilst the pomelo adds a faint zingy undertone to the scent - the perfect fruity combo. The ginger laces the scent adding spicy hints here and there. The opening of Delicious Night is rich and flavoursome and noticeable for an hour or so.
As the sweet and fruity top note composition starts to fade, Delicious Night takes a floral twist. I'm not crazy on heavy florals so I appreciated the delicate floral bouquet on offer from the orchid and iris. Jasmine is a favourite of mine and I found this added the 'evening' touch to the scent by giving a sensual feel to the scent. As the heart notes fumbled about on my skin for 4 hours or so, I could detect a faint spiciness if I sniffed up close to my skin.
As the sensual floral heart whispers away from my skin, the strength of the overall scent starts to lack a little. The base composition isn't as enthusiastic in strength as the rest of the scent and sits very close to the skin. I can appreciate a warm amber trace with a powdery patchouli addition. There is an element of faint woodiness but it isn't as deep and rich as it could have been. The scent was gone from my skin after 7 hours of wear.
Delicious Night would suit a female of any age and is a pleasant scent to wear to a romantic dinner. It wouldn't last long enough to go for dinner and on a bender afterwards though in my opinion as the scent isn't all that strong after a few hours and I often felt the need to top it up. It doesn't last as well as other eau de parfums but does last longer than an eau de toilette.
Overall I can recommend Delicious Night if you can buy it cheap. It is a lovely fragrance which makes me feel good when wearing it. I do prefer the apple inspired Delicious scents to this one but this is something different and I would buy it again.
Recommended - thanks for reading :)
This is another addition to the Delicious range, there is also Be Delicious, Golden Delicious and Red Delicious to name a few.
I had never smelt or used the range until recently when I received a bottle of the Golden Delicious for Christmas.
I think my partner was struggling for what to buy me for Mothers day, when he realised I already has some from the Delicious Range brought me this.
Bottles on their own come in three sizes, 30ml which has a RRP of £26, 50ml with a RRP of £37 and 100ml for £46. However because this is an older perfume and not one of the new releases, it is often on offer and he paid £26 for a 50ml bottle which was quite a good buy
I still haven't got used to the 'spray', it does seem to spray quite a lot, and its more like a squirt, so much so that when I first sprayed this, it looked like I had dribbled down my top! I would advise to position the bottle about 15cm where you want to spray it on.
As it is EDP, you only need to spray a small amount to get the desired effect, I hate it when you have to 'plaster' on the perfume to even notice it! Because of how strong it it, I would wear at night or weekends and not for work. I work in a small office and there is nothing worse than sitting next to someone with overpowering perfume on!
I also find it quite hard to position the bottle to get the 'stray' at the right angle due to the shape of the bottle however saying this, I do think the design of the bottle and the range is quite innovative and does look nice on my shelf.
The fragrance smells a follows:
Top Notes: Pomelo, Blackberry, Ginger.
Heart Notes: Orchid, Jasmine, Iris
Base Notes: Amber, Patchouli, Vetiver.
Thanks for reading
Fragrance information taken from Amazon.co.uk
Purple colour bottle, in a spherical shape. It has a sophisticated smell. Perfect for evenings out.
Because it is Eau de Parfum, it only needs one squirt, and you can smell it already, so it isnt the cheapest fragrance on the market, but it is strong, so not alot is needed, and it will last a long time. Eau de parfum are generally more expensive than Eau de toilette, as Eau de toilette is more diluted so you find yourself having tp spray more. Eau de parfum is more concentrated and so less is needed, making it more expensive. Always consider this when buying perfume.
Dont spend lots of money on a brand, try and go for Eu de Parfum, worth the investment.
I didnt think i would like the fragrance at first, but i fell in love with it.
As the packaging suggests, the fragrance instantly brings thought and feelings of the night time hustle of the city. It is a sweet scent, but also has a pleasant refreshing sharpness ( i think it is Ginger) which cuts through it. This stops the smelly becoming too sickly sweet, and makes it more of a womans perfume, rather than a little girls.
I had to to think about the scent itself to give a better explanation of it, and it was rather complicated, but from using it myself. This is what i think, It is a sweet scent, but also has a pleasant refreshing sharpness which cuts through it. This stops the smell becoming too sickly sweet, and makes it more of a womans perfume, rather than a little girls.
To find out the specific fragrances within the perfume, there are sites which tell you about the undertones, overtones and openings, of the fragrance in more detail than i can. This is how the scent changes as the perfume heats up.
I think its a sophisticated and sultry scent. Nice for winters.
The smell starts quite light, but becomes a darker scent as you wear it longer.
I received this perfume for Christmas about two years ago now, and it still remains one of my favourite scents, so I thought I would review it for you guys...
DKNY Delicious Night was launched in 2007, so this is a relatively old perfume but in my opinion it has stood the test of time. Delicious Night is the sister perfume of Be Delicious and Delicious Red
=== Bottle Design ===
The bottle design is iconic to DKNY. Both Be Delicious and Delicious Red had the same bottle shape, but the glass/plastic varied in colour. It is shaped like an apple - minus the stalk and leaf of course! Delicious Night is dark purple in colour to represent its night-time theme. It often looks black depending on the light, which ties in really well with the name. There is also an apple shaped sticker on the bottle, which displays the DKNY logo and the name of the perfume, which is a really nice touch!
The perfume is sprayed via a triangular button embedded into the bottle. It does not stick out, in order to prevent accidental presses if say it was in your handbag! There is no lid, which is probably a good thing because I'm always losing them anyway!
Overall, the bottle has a very simple but effective design, which could be applied to a whole range of other similar perfume scents by DKNY. I think the colours make this one look really sophisticated in comparison to the earlier editions.
=== Packaging ===
I really loved the box that the perfume came in. It was simply a small black cube with a design on the front. This one in particular had the DKNY logo with 'Donna Karan New York' written below, followed by a New York skyline in tiny silver squares to represent the illuminated windows. The same sticker that is on the perfume also appears on the box.
Inside the perfume was held in place by some extra cardboard, but in my opinion it didn't feel sturdy enough. The perfume could have been easily damaged in transit because it was able to move about quite a bit. I guess this is more environmentally friendly, because it reduced the unnecessary packaging and it could be recycled if you wished. But for something as delicate as a glass bottle, it really requires it in my opinion.
=== Scent ===
The scent is truly beautiful. I really love it. It is quite a hard perfume to describe without looking at the ingredients, but I would say it mainly has a floral, sweet smell. It is a very feminine perfume, so I would not recommend it for those that like something a bit more edgy.
According to the producers the top notes (the ones smelt instantly) are blackberry martini and a woody aroma. I would certainly agree that the fruitiness comes through in that respect, although I'm not sure about the latter! The heart notes (the ones that come through after the top notes) are purple freesia, orchids and jasmine. These are what make the scent super girly and floral! Other scents include ginger and amber, although these are not instantly noticeable.
In my opinion, this perfume could be used for the day and the night, despite its name. I certainly do! The smell appears quite over-powering at first if more than two sprays are used, but it dies down into a more subtle scent after a few minutes. This definitely makes the bottle last a long time. I've had mine for about two years now and I'm still nowhere near finishing it!
The scent lasts a very long time with only a couple of squirts, but I like to top up during the day... I guess it depends how strong you like your perfume.
=== Price ===
This is a relatively old perfume, but the prices have not changed that much since its release. It is best to shop around for the best deal.
The cheapest I have found this perfume is from Boots. The 50ml bottle will set you back £28.66 (free delivery online). The cheapest I have seen the 100ml bottle is £35.40 from The Fragrance Shop (excluding delivery charges)
You can also buy the perfume as part of a gift set, which includes body lotion in the same fragrance. I've seen the gift set on Amazon, which comes in a cylindrical tube, for around £36-39.
=== Conclusion ===
I would highly recommend this perfume for fans of DKNY's Delicious range. It would be great for girly girls who like floral perfumes - they won't be disappointed with this sweet scent. The gift set would make a great gift for a friend or relative, and the price is not that different to just buying the single perfume, so it's really worth it! I give this perfume 5/5... I can get over the lack of protective packaging in the box because the scent is just too gorgeous!!

DKNY is a brand created by Donna Karen. The brand started off life as a fashion brand and it soon diversified into other areas such as watches and finally perfume. In 2004, the Be Delicious fragrance was created which came in a green, apple shaped bottle with a silver metal lid. Be Delicious Night was created as part of the Be Delicious collection a few years later.
Be Delicious Night is a perfume created for women by Donna Karen. It comes in an apple shaped bottle which is a beautiful deep royal purple in colour. The top half is a purple metal and the bottom half is a purple glass.
The inspiration behind the fragrance lies in the buzzing and mesmerising night life of New York. It attempts to highlight the seduction, mystery and excitement of the undiscovered areas of the bustling city.
This perfume is designed to be worn at night when you want to become your own little temptress. The perfume is full of life and will not make you blend into the crowd. It is for people who want to make a statement because this fragrance is pulsing with energy.
The intriguing scent is intoxicating and opens with a cocktail of frozen pomela and crushed ginger. The seduction is created by silky purple freesias and an electric rush of energy is created by night blooming orchids.
The heart of the scent is created by the satin black jasmine petals and purple iris. The base notes are uncovered with jet black incense and molten amber. The over riding scent is a deep and heady mix of blackberries and ginger. It is slightly creamy and incredibly seductive.
The first time I smelt this fragrance, it wasn't what I expected at all. Having already owned Be Delicious in the green bottle, I thought it would be along the same lines but it is completely different.
When you first smell the perfume, it really is delicious. To me it smelt fruity yet creamy and even though there's no vanilla in there, it smelt reminiscent of it. I loved it and so went a bit wild with the spraying. That was my first mistake. This perfume is incredibly heavy and long lasting. More than two sprays is enough, otherwise it becomes sickly.
As time goes on the fragrance starts to change and it almost smells like a fruity alcoholic cocktail. I wore it once when I had a hangover and I had to go and shower it off. I think this perfume is definitely an acquired taste and only suitable for the night time. I still wear mine now and again because of the amount of money I paid for it but only in the evenings and only one squirt!
The perfume is not the easiest to use. The fragrance is actually dispensed from the lid and you have to push down on it while holding the smooth round bottle steadily. It can sometimes fall out of your grasp.
Also available in this collection is DKNY Be delicious which comes in a green apple shaped bottle, DKNY Be delicious Red with comes in a red apple shaped bottle and DKNY Be delicious Fresh Blossom which comes in a pink apple shaped bottle. Another summer version was released in 2010. They all smell fairly difference and if you like one of them, it doesn't necessarily mean that you will like them all.
Be Delicious Night can be bought from most perfume shops and all large department stores such as Boots and is also available from many websites. The fragrance costs around £30 for 30ml and larger bottles are available.
I would advise trying the tester for this one before splashing out on it. Also, once you've sprayed it, make sure you walk around for a while before buying it. I loved the initial smell but as time went on, the scent changed a little and became sickly. Use this one sparingly.
DKNY Delicious Night was launched in 2007 following the delicious apple based scent of Be Delicious (2004) and Delicious Red (2006). The bottles for all three fragrances follow the same design with the beautifully crafted round glass bottle, but this fragrance couldn't be more different from the previous two releases.
The bottle is a dark purple, almost black construction of thick glass and plastic. These two materials meet to form the shape of the bottle. There is no removable lid, instead there is an indentation at the top of the bottle and when pressed, releases the fragrance from a small hole in the side of the bottle. The bottle is fairly simply in design but still attractive and appealing to the eye. The bottle is housed in a sleek black box which just screams New York. The DKNY logo is bold and eye catching in silver across the front of the box, contrasting very well with the black background. Around the bottom of the box there are silver dots depicting the New York Skyline.
The scent is said to be inspired by the sexy buzz of New York City at night, and for me, the fragrance really manages to capture this. With Top notes of Frozen Pomelo, Crushed Ginger and Blackberry, you would be right to assume this is a rather fruity fragrance. The fragrance opens with a pungent explosion of a tangy and sharp citrus aroma with a spicy injection courtesy of the ginger. Soon the fragrance is transformed into a more fruity and floral aroma with the blackberry coming into play, accompanied by the heart notes of Orchid, Jasmine and Iris. It is now that the scent starts to smell a lot sweeter. Underneath, the musky scent of Amber, Parchouli and Vetiver make an appearance which gives the fragrance it's body. The notes used in this fragrance compliment each other wonderfully, it is neither to sweet, fruity or musky, but all elements blend together to give a lovely smelling scent that has depth and multiple layers making this a rather sophisticated and distinctive fragrance.
The scent is quite heavy and would be best suited to evening wear. Compared to Be Delicious and Delicious Red, this in my opinion is the better of the three as it seems to offer the senses a little more variety rather than being a simply fruity fragrance. As this is an Eau de parfum, it has great staying power. A few spritzes will last all night and well into the early hours.
Widely available online and on the high street, this fragrance can be purchased in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml sizes. It is currently on offer at Boots for £30.00 for the 50ml size which I consider a reasonable price for a fragrance such as this.
If you like a sophisticated scent infused with sweet smelling blackberry, delicate flowers and a hint of heady musk, this is definitely one for you.

I was bought this as a birthday present by my lovely other half. I had never smelt it before and, worryingly, neither had he-I think he picked it from the Amazon.co.uk website because it was purple and pretty and he knows that's the kind of thing I like to look at!
Now, this could have been an absolute disaster but Hubby escapes because, lucky beggar that he is, his rather risky thought process worked out: the perfume SMELLS purple and pretty, and I do indeed like it!
Ok so what could I possibly mean "It smells purple"?! Well I would clssify most women's perfumes as being floral or fruity and "pinky" smelling. This fragrance however is much deeper and muskier than your average scent and has a very adult spicy feel to it. But....it doesn't really smell anything like the other delicious scents-no sign of any apples here! For that reason, anyone who's a fan of those DKNY fragrances and is looking to add to their collection, it would be worth trying it out a couple of times first as it won't be what you're expecting.
Price & Stockists
This isn't really widely stocked as the green and red Delicious fragrances are, so you tend to get it online and at cheaper stores. £30 is the dearest I've found but ebay and other websites have prices as low as £20
The packaging is lovely, a really deep coloured glass and the shape fits nicely in your hand. The spray is nice and fine (which is good as the scent is strong and lasts a long time so you don't want to use too much).
This perfume is musky and spicy and will last you a long time!
I was bought this perfume as a Xmas present last year (in the 50ml size) and I still have just under half the bottle left even with me using it quite regularly. It is priced at around £30 for 50ml but you can usually save a few pounds buying from Amazon or Ebay. I think this is actually quite a unique smelling fragrance which would be more suited to evening wear but it can still be worn in day time too.
Firstly, I like the design and look of the bottle - it's in the identifiable DKNY apple style bottle with a deep purple glass bottom and a plastic top which has a little cut out on it that you press to disperse the fragrance. It's an unusual shape which feels nice to hold and looks nice sitting on display and the almost blackened purple colour of it gives off a luxurious and sultry look.
Contrary to what others have said, I like how this bottle sprays. It disperses just a little of the fragrance per pump into a really fine mist so you can build up to whatever level of scent you want. As it's quite a strong smelling perfume, I don't find it overpowering as long as you don't overspray it - a little goes a long way.
The usual DKNY perfumes are very fruity, crisp and fresh and so Delicious Night makes a welcome change to this trend. It is a very deep, spicy and musky fragrance with what I would describe as a tinge of black pepper to it. You can then pick up the rich background of deeply fragranced and sweet florals coming from the jasmine and orchid. I'm not a big fan of floral perfumes as I think they can smell a bit Grannyish but this has just the right hint to it that gives the perfume a heady sweetness.
I really like this perfume as I must admit I do like sweet and intoxicating fragrances which are strong enough to actually smell on your skin but not too strong that everyone within a 2 metre radius can taste it. Someone before has commented that it is like an aftershave in some ways and I can see what they mean because of the spicy notes to this but it is not ever going to be mistaken for an aftershave at all - it still smells like a ladies perfume. I always seem to get people complimenting how I smell with this and I think it lasts comparatively well compared to other scents in this price range
Last Crimbo I was given a DKNY Delicious gift set. It comprised small bottles of Delicious perfume as well as a large (full sized) bottle of Delicious Night, a fragrance I didn't know existed until I opened my present.
This comes in the usual apple shaped bottle, the difference this time around being that instead of having a shiny silver top Delicious Night is a solid purple from top to bottom. It actually has a classier look than the rest of the Delicious range, which I think are more fun looking with their cute and contrasting apple designs. The colour always makes me think of Cadbury's actually as it's such a deep and attractive purple.
The top of the bottle is very fiddly, it took me a while to work out how best to open it as it's not immediately clear whether you have to twist it or simply pull the top straight off! The spray isn't the most effective I've ever used either, you have to ensure you have it quite close to your skin before spraying as it feels a bit loose on the top of the bottle and doesn't particularly spray in a very straight line!
The perfume itself is completely different to the other Delicious fragrances I have used, it's much heavier and spicier instead of the usual fruity/floral tones in DKNY perfumes. It has an oriental fragrance, which surprised me the first time I sprayed it as I definitely wasn't expecting that from what I already know about the Delicious range. The two main scents for me are blackberry and jasmine, these are apparent throughout the life of the perfume and never actually die off even though they do lessen as the time goes on. It's strange that such a strong blackberry scent doesn't give Delicious Night a more fruity aroma but there are so many other notes within the fragrance that they all manage to work together to create a more layered effect.
I'd recommend Delicious Night for daytime or evening wear, it's pretty and informal despite the heaviness of the fragrance and lingers on my skin for much longer than the other (short lived) Delicious perfumes. The different floral notes come through in waves and this makes the perfume seem fresh and interesting throughout the night. I love the smoothness of the fragrance and the sweet aroma which comes through after I've been wearing the perfume for a couple of hours.
I was going to say this perfume is unique but yesterday I used a splash of CK Euphoria and the two scents are actually quite similar. I do prefer Delicious Night due to the longevity of the scent but the CK version is slightly more interesting when first applied due to the more fruity fragrance. One thing I do like about this DKNY perfume is the fact that the fragrance doesn't change much throughout its lifespan, once the initial burst of smell has died down you know you're getting the same scent for the next however many hours it will linger on your skin for.
£26.58 (50ml bottle) from Fragrance Net.
I received a 30ml bottle of this perfume as a gift at the start of the year, and as I have trying to use up my part used bottles of fragrance before opening any more, it has remained ever so temptingly encased in its cellofane wrapper sitting in one of my drawers ever since.
Now this morning wasn't a good morning, grumpy boy, grumpy husband, getting soaked on the way back from playgroup all added up to a grumpy Mum. When I went upstairs to get into some dry clothes I saw the little dark box tempting me to open it up and have a treat. So, I gave in - there is something exciting about unwrapping a new fragrance, especially one in such a lovely shiny dark purple box, with a night scene of New York on it.
When I got into the box, I must admit to being a little disappointed by the bottle. As I have the red and the green DKNY apple fragrances, I was expecting a shiny silver top half of the apple, but instead there was a dark purple plastic top. Still the cute apple shape, but the shiny silver top would have added an extra sense of luxury.
The fragrance when applied is a lot more sensual and heady than I am used to - more of a spicy oriental than a true floral fragrance, and nothing of the apple crispness of the original green and red versions.
The initial impression is of a sweetish floral smell, with a gingery twist. When it settles on your skin, it becomes a much warmer, more rounded fragrance with the amber base notes coming through.
The full notes of the fragrance are as follows:
Top notes: Pomelo, ginger, freesia
Heart notes: orchids, jasmine, iris
Base notes: incense, amber
This fragrance reminds me a bit of a more subtle and more fruity Poison - but don't let that put you off! It is definately quite a heavy fragrance and as the name suggests more suitable for evening rather than daytime wear. Although it is not what I would usually choose, I do really like it for a change. What is more Boots have this on offer at half price at the moment - £25 for 50ml so would make a great gift.
Don't automatically assume though that if someone likes the original green and red DKNY apple fragrances that they will like this as it is very different - the only similarity is the bottle!
This is not your typical girls perfume for the main reason that it has not got the usual floral scent that most girly perfumes have. It is also (in my opinion) not a great scent for using as your day-to-day scent. This is because it has a strong scent but yet is not over-powering. It is approprietly titled delicious night as I only wear it when going out for the night. It has a slight musky smell to it, almost like mens aftershave that make you smile when you sniff them. Yet at the same time is distinctly a perfume for girls as it has a rather sweet smell to it. I love the bottle design, as it is shaped like an apple and has a button to press that squirts out the perfume, its very easy to use and with no lids to use. I would say the age range for this product would be anything from 17-35 years old. The price was also very reasonable and cheaper then the DKNY apple (original).
HATE HATE HATE!!!!
two christmases ago my sister brought me a set of two dkny perfumes one was the green apple be delicious which i love and the other one was delicious night which i hate.
It is such a strong smell that doesnt seem to die down. most people want the smell to last all day its the reason we all spend so much on perfume making sure we all smell nice, but this one lingers in a bad way, its like cats urine the smell you cant seem to get rid of.
for a 50ml bottle from boots you will pay around £38 which i feel is an excessive amount of money to pay for a small amount of perfume. but right now it is on sale at boots for £25 which i still think is a lot of money for such a awful smell.
obviously i know not everyone likes the same smells and it will appeal to some people like my best friend who thankfully took it of my hands.
this is not a fragrance i would every where not even as a emergancy back up perfume when i run out of the perfume i like. this is one thing that most certainly wont be on my christmas list this year!!
I have been a huge DKNY 'Delicious' fan since the range of fragrances, were first released. I prefer fruity smells to floral or musky scents, so the tempting apple scents were an instant hit. I loved the green 'delicious' apple which is just like a juicy green apple and perfect for the day but also loved wearing the 'delicious' red apple scent which found suited the evening better. I have recently started to use their limited edition range of candy apples which are very fun and flirty and combine fruitiness with a sweet twist. I found all the delicious range as mentioned above so very addicted so I was very excited to receive 'Delicious Night' fragrance.
'Delicious Night' like the rest of the range comes in an apple shaped bottle in a deep purple colour with the classic lid (screw top or press to spray depending on size). Prices are aprox £26 for 30ml, £37 for 50ml or £53 for 100ml. I like the classic design of the bottle as it shows it is still part of the delicious range so you know you're going to get good qality but he purple colour reflects that it is somewhat different to the classic apple scents.
The scent it described as containing notes of silky purple freesia, iris and night blooming orchids to capture the after dark intoxicating energy of New York City. I've never been to the big apple, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Sadly, I was very disappointed. The reason I like the delicious range is because the 'be delicious', 'delicious red' and 'delicious candy apples' all stayed true to the apple, fruity scented roots but had a twist to make each individual. I felt this scent had strayed too far away from the delicious scent and smelt like any other perfume. It's not that I hated or disliked it, it just wasn't anything similar to the rest of the range. I don't like floral scents and felt this was too floral and not interesting enough for me. I always get complimented on my perfume but felt when I wore this it smelt like most other perfumes on the market. The only plus side is that DKNY fragrances do last a long time on your skin and in the bottle, so one bottle goes a long way. This was the only good thing about this product.
In 2004 Donna Karan brought out one of her most popular fragrances Be Delicious, which incorporated a distinct apple-based fragrance in a green and silver apple-shaped bottle. Then, in 2006 Red Delicious was launched, the pop art adverts and cool TV campaigns made me buy this one too, and I didn't like it as much as I did the original, but still divine! In following years the delicious range just snowballed in to a mass composite of the DKNY Corporation. 2007 was the year Ms Karan launched Delicious Night, despite so much criticism and complaints that this scent wasn't as gloriously fruity as the first two; but it seems to me, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree!
The fragrance is in an apple shaped bottle again, this time the silver lid is replaced with an iridescent plum lid and a rich amethyst 100% recyclable glass bottle. The bottles appearance is the key in establishing the identity of this Delicious offering; hot, rich, sexy, colourful and passionate - full of temptation, seduction and indulgence. So where will the night take you...
Delicious Night is termed a floriental - combining the dominant ginger, oriental molten and intoxicating amber, myrrh extract, patchouli and vetiver base with the floral notes of night orchids, purple freesia, jasmine petal and iris. With the first spray your senses are amass with citrus from the blackberry martini then, the ginger diffuse s the scent in to an aniseed and parmaviolet sweet-shop cloying mist which can't help but make you feel incredibly girly and grown up all at once.
I love this scent but I really like heavier perfumes as I don't care what the experts say about 'if you can smell it on yourself you've got too much on', because I like to smell my own scent I don't wear it for other people I wear it for me to enjoy. I also like really aniseed-y bases like Clinique Happy, florals like Marc Jacob's Lola and oriental like Avon's Far Away (thought I stopped wearing this in the 90s!). It's the heady infusion and sophistication; you can almost imagine yourself walking the streets on a cool evening somewhere exotic when you wear them. If you're not like me, then to be truthful this may seem a bit much.
It is a long lasting fragrance as it is an EDP rather than EDT, which I much prefer. Along with the 50ml / 100ml bottles this fragrance is also available in a body lotion and a shower gel. There was a limited edition lip gloss at one stage, but I have trawled the internet and assume this is no longer available. For 100ml it's approx £35 and 50ml approx £25; I think this represents extremely good value for money as similar designer premium fragrances such as Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacob would cost £50+ for a 100ml bottle of EDP. There is a gift set available in a cute tin which costs around £40 for the fragrance, shower gel and body lotion; when used together you need less EDP so it lasts forever!
If you're still not sure I think www.latestinbeauty.com is offering samples of DKNY night for a £1 SMS to their Beauty Club subscribers. You get a sachet of body lotion too... Thanks for reading!
