Advantages: For those who like it - Long lasting

Disadvantages: Strong, Heavy, Not Pleasant

Before I begin this review, I would firstly like to say that thankfully I am reviewing a sample of this perfume and not a paid for product. As this is the case unfortunately I am unable to review the packaging or bottle.

Instead I will give you a brief idea of how I obtained such a product.
In addition to Dooyoo and Ciao I have also signed up to other sites such as latestinbeauty.com which is a freebie site. Once a month members (free membership) are entitled to up to three free sample sized products. Usually you select one from hair and body, skin care and makeup and fragrances.

This month I ordered my free sample of DKNY Delicious Night perfume and body lotion. The product was advertised as "like night itself, the scent is mysterious, mesmerising and shimmering with light." Sounds lovely!

I have never purchased a DKNY fragrance before but I am familiar with the range of television adverts promoting their Delicious range (usually with apples). This Donna Karen New York range is advertised for women (although they do offer a scent for men too) and was introduced in 2007.
My sample included 2 small plastic sachets of perfume, in a plastic bubble type packaging with a snap end which opens a very small pin hole for the perfume to be squeezed out of.

The plastic is black with a clear bubble where you can see a decent amount of fluid. Unfortunately due to the way the packaging is designed you cannot reuse your sample, so if you do not need the full amount you will waste the rest of the product as it is not reseal-able.

On snapping the plastic I was immediately squirted in the eye, so with watery eyes I applied the fragrance to the inside of my wrists and behind my ear lobes. I was immediately put off but decided I would bear with the overpowering smell and give it time to settle on my skin throughout the day.

I am no perfume expert but I found this scent very heavy and very old lady-ish. On researching the product I have learnt that the heart notes of this scent are purple freesia, orchards and jasmine with top notes of pomelo, ginger and blackberry martini. The heart notes are the ones left once the top notes dissipate.

For me, well like I said I am no fragrance expert and probably just as well. I managed to pick out the blackberry and ginger from the scent but the fragrance as a whole was so overpowering I couldn't distinguish between the other ingredients. The perfume also has base notes of amber, myrrh and patchouli, these are the scents which stay on the body, the ones which last the longest.

This fragrance is marketed as moody and seductive. Neither word describes how I felt about this perfume. I wasn't sure if the view I had formed of this scent was tainted slightly so once at work I asked my colleagues for their opinion and they agreed that it smelt like a fragrance their Nan might wear.

The good thing about this perfume, if you like it is that the smell remains for hours and hours and hours. By the time I finished work I could still catch a whiff of it as I walked around.

I would advise any potential buyer of DKNY Delicious Night to pop down to the local fragrance counter and get a sample before buying the main product. Also I have learnt over the years that how a fragrance sits on your skin depends on where you are in your hormonal cycle, so it may be worth looking into this more if you are going to buy a perfume you are unused to.

You will find the product on sale in a purple apple shaped bottle in-line with the DKNY brand. Prices range between £25 - £50 depending on the amount you buy and where you buy it.

Summary: A heavy old fashioned fragrance
