DKNY Be Delicious Red is an Eau de Parfum which is available in a 50ml bottle priced at £49, or a 100ml bottle priced at £67.
I'm not keen on the design of the bottles for the whole of the Be Delicious range to be honest. They do look quite different and unique with their apple shaped bottles, but they're just not pretty or interesting enough for me really. Having said that, I do like this this red one much better than thee original green, I think the lovely red colour makes it look much brighter and nicer than the original.
The fragrance is described as a daring, irresistible floral oriental. A sultry experience that is tempting, sexy, and delicious. I'm not sure I'd really agree with that statement as to me it is much more of a light, fresh, fruity fragrance.
The top notes are litchi and raspberry, the mid notes are apple and rose, and the base notes are leather and vanilla pod. The overall fragrance is very fresh and tangy, the raspberry and litchi being very apparrent, along with the apple. The rose isn't really noticeable to me, nor the leather, though the vanilla does come through giving the scent a bit more sweetness and warmth.
I much prefer this scent to the original Be Delicious, which was too sweet and immature for my tastes. This one has a much more refreshing feel to it, and the juiciness of the fruits makes it smell really edible. It's nice and light and fresh, and unlike the original, this one doesn't give me a headache.
This scent I think is more versatile than the original, as it doesn't have the same immature feel, so I think it would suit anyone, old or young. It's also strong enough to be noticeable on a night out, whilst being light enough for daytime wear.
I just use one or two sprays of it if I'm wearing it during the day, and this gives a lovely fragrance, but for a night out I will add another spray or two to give it more intensity. It lasts really well and if I spray it in the morning I can still smell it at the end of the night. The scent also lingers on my clothes for a good few days.
Yes, I would recommend this scent if you're looking for something fresh and fruity but without the overly sweet and immature feel of the original Be Delicious
I absolutely loved the DKNY Green Be Delicious perfume having sprayed it in the duty free before going on holiday in 2012. As a result my boyfriend got me a bottle that Christmas.
As I was coming to the end of the bottle (it was only a 30ml one) I looked around to see what was available, and the red one caught my eye as it seemed to be a lot cheaper, so I added it to my Amazon wishlist.
As a result I got a large 50ml (not the absolute largest though) bottle of this perfume for my birthday. The bottle is similar to the green one. The bottle is apple shaped, and the bottom half is red glass (as opposed to green) and the top half is silver. The button the bress to release the fragrance is a large triange on the top. There is a little sticky label on the bottle, much like real apples have, so this is a nice touch.
I spray the bottle and I can definitely smell apples in there somewhere. As I'm not an expert in these things I've looked it up and found that apple is the base note "surrounded with tantalising red fruits, a hint of vanilla plus velvety rose and lush violet for a more sultry summer scent." - Ok then, if that's what the experts say!!! I know nothing about these things really, but would say it's suitable for the day or evening.
A 50ml bottle of this costs around £20, so that is pretty good value for such a nice perfume. However, in my opinion it's not nearly as nice as the green one!
This is one of my favourite perfumes, and is very fruity and smells delicious. The bottle is adorable, as all of the ''be delicious'' perfumes are, and it looks fantastic on my dressing table. The scent is a delightful mix of fruit and slight spice, and is intoxicating on first sniff. I bought this with birthday money, and have been in love with it since that moment. I had always wanted one of the ''be delicious'' perfumes, and this was a bargain that was well worth the money. Although I don''t wear it often, I prefer a lighter scent for daily wear, it is a fantastic perfume and my usual choice for a night out or a date with my man. The bottle is a little large for transportation, but this is not usually a problem for me. The DKNY brand is certainly one of my favourites, and will likely stay that way with them producing perfumes just like this one.
I had been hinting to my husband that I wanted a DKNY perfume for quite some time. I had actually been hinting for the green apple one as a girl in work has it and it is a gorgeous smell, but I ended up with the red apple one instead. I'm not complaining! The perfume has a lovely fruity smell that is easy to wear without being overpowering. I'm not a big perfume wearer and don't spend a lot of time choosing perfume, so finding a perfume such as this that is just as wearable for work as a night out is an amazing upside for me. Whenever I wear this perfume (which is most days) it lasts for several hours before I need to re-spray and I always get compliments on it. The perfume itself comes in an attractive bottle, the design of which I really appreciate. It is shaped like an apple, with the red perfume on the bottom in a glass jar and the top a silver lid, and ? in the larger sizes (I have 50ml) has a button built in to the silver lid as a spray. However, the 30ml version has a screw on lid to reveal the spray. This perfume is the perfect accompaniment for me for any occasion and is affordable too. I'm not sure how much my husband paid for the perfume, but it is currently at my local Savers for 20pound for 50ml ? come payday I may have to stock up!
This is definitely one of my favourite perfumes, I received a large bottle of this for Christmas after wanting it for so long! The bottle is cute nothing special but there aren't many perfume bottles that are. The bottom of the bottle is red and the top is silver with a button you press down to realise the perfume. The thing I find with this perfume is that when spraying it's more of a squirt than a mist so be careful. I actually wore this perfume today and from 8am in the morning when I left I could still smell this when I got in at 6pm so that's great.. A long lasting perfume. I don't know why but I'm totally convinced the scent of the perfume reminds me of Palma voilets (the sweets) I absolutely love the smell it is so fresh and sweet and crisp I really don't have a bad thing to say about it. Nice job DKNY. I shall definitely be purchasing more products from this brand.
One thing I don't have is the perfume gene. I don't get different scents or smells. I've used the same perfume for years and I use it for any occasion that I need perfume. I can give you a breakdown on most mascaras on the market but perfumes... I just don't GET it!
In my teenage years I used DKNY, and when I ran out I asked my dad to get me some for Christmas. He bought me the DKNY Red Delicious and I've used it ever since. 50ml costs £31.99 from Boots, but look out as I usually buy it on offer or use advantage card offers.
Red Delicious comes in a round bottle, which is supposed to look like an apple. The bottom of the bottle is clear red and then the top is silver, with a button on top to spray out the perfume. The button works really well and never gets stuck, I've also chucked it in a suitcase whilst traveling and it never goes off by accident or leaks. The bottle fits really comfortable in your hand, the only downside is that when it gets to the end you can still see product in the bottom of the bottle but the spray doesn't reach it anymore.
I've looked up the notes as this isn't something I'd be able to pinpoint myself;
Top notes: Champagne, lychee
Middle notes: Raspberry, apple, rose
Base notes: Amber, musk, vanilla
To me, this perfume smells very fresh and fruity. It feels quite flirty and is quite sweet but not sickly - kind of a sweetness for grown ups. I can certainly smell the fruitiness of the apple and raspberry, but I'm left with a lovely musk which I really like.
I find that the scent goes on nicely, I can smell it for a good few hours. If I wear it all day, by the end of the day I can still smell it it if I raise my wrist to my nose, so I guess it depends on how close people get to you! I don't wear perfume every day, when I do wear it my partner always notices and comments that it smells nice. I've sprayed it on clothes/scarves etc and it doesn't stain fabrics in my experience.
Overall, for a perfume novice like me this is a lovely fruity flirty fragrance, which ticks my boxes. I wish it was less expensive and lasted a bit longer, but the bottle looks nice and it smells lovely, which is the main thing.
A few months ago my Husband had worked a lot of hours and got quite a big wage so we decided to go to an outlet and get the girls winter coats, while we were there we came across a fragrance shop and knowing I like the green delicious my Husband suggested I try the red version to see if he liked it.
The fragrance is available in most fragrance shops, online shops such as Amazon and places such as Boots. The RRP of the fragrance is £60 for a 100mls and £43 for 50mls, we pai £31.50 for a 100ml bottle so I think it was a decent price. The Delicious fragrances are by Donna Karen and there are three different ones for women and a mans version too.
The fragrance comes packaged in a very simple cardboard box but the bottle makes up for the plain box as I think it is really pretty. The bottle is made to look like a striking red apple, the red bottom is see through so you are able to see how much of the fragrance you have left and then the top half of the apple is solid silver in colour. The push button to release the perfume is triangular shaped and I think it is meant to look like a leaf on the top of the apple. I like the design of the bottle, when you buy it in the smaller version the perfume has a lid on it too but the larger bottle doesn't have.
The description of the perfume from the professionals is sweet, fruity and feminine, a tasty perfume for the summer. With top notes of Lychee and Raspberry, heart notes of Bergamot, Patchouli and Rose and base notes of Leather, Amber and Vanilla, DKNY Red Delicious is a modern and stylish fragrance. I would say this is a very sweet and fruity fragrance, I can smell the apple and the vanilla in the fragrance but the vanilla isn't sickly like in some that I have used. I personally do not smells flowers within this fragrance until later in the day when it is wearing away and then there is a little bit of a flowery scent to it.
The bottle has great spraying power and sprays over a wide area so covers plenty of your skin for maximum effect, a couple of squirts of fragrance is more than enough and the smell lasts pretty much all day. I can spray it on a morning and still slightly smell it on an evening when I shower which is great however if I was going out anywhere later in the day I would reapply it for a stronger aroma. I have been asked what I am wearing while using this perfume which I like as it shows that it is string enough for people to smell yet I don't think it is in anyway overpowering. If I hug my children soon after applying the perfume they end up smelling of it too and even that small amount that has rubbed onto them lasts for hours.
I love this perfume, I feel that it is something that you can happily wear at any time of day and at any time of the year, with it being such a fruity scent I think some people would prefer it in the summery months but if I like wearing a perfume I don't really care what time of year it is. I love the smell of this perfume and the staying power is fantastic so I would thoroughly recommend it. I would say that it is worth full price however there is no reason to pay full price as there is is always on offer somewhere online.
I received DKNY Be Delicious as a gift a few years ago and until recently I've always been a bit irritated by offshoots of popular fragrances and DKNY didn't half cash in with their Be Delicious range.
Looking online it seems there are 34 different fragrances by DKNY in the apple shaped bottles all released since the original 2004 Be Delicious fragrance came out.
I found that late last year I was really enjoying writing reviews of my perfume collection and I really started to enjoy perfume a lot more as well from reading about the different notes.
Until the beginning of this year I had never bought myself a perfume that cost as much as £30, maybe even £20, but in February I went wild and started buying all of the perfumes I wanted for myself and ended up loving quite a lot of fragrances which were offshoots of originals.
My partner recently bought me DKNY Fresh Blossom Art from duty free in the airport and that refuelled my excitement about the Be Delicious range.
~ Price and availability ~
I bought DKNY Red Delicious about 2 weeks ago online. I had tried it in store and really liked it so it rose towards the top of my list.
It was first released in 2006.
It is available in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml bottles of eau de parfum.
I got the 100ml bottle, which cost £32.37. The recommended retail price was £60.00.
The 50ml bottle is £23.15 from cheapsmells.com (RRP £48.00).
The 30ml bottle is £22.75 from cheapsmells.com (RRP £32.00).
I have just noticed that the 100ml bottle is £30.00 on Debenhams.com reduced from £60.00.
I think the recommended retail prices are a bit high for this fragrance and I am far happier paying cheapsmells.com prices.
I think these DKNY fragrances seem to be aimed at quite a young audience and the recommended retail prices are quite high, especially as there are often 3 DKNY fragrances released at once, for example the Delicious Art range or the Delicious Hearts The World range.
~ Bottle ~
The bottle is made of red clear glass. It is rounded, but not spherical. The bottle sits quite low.
The top of the bottle is silver and made from plastic. It is like a mirror. Looking down on my bottle I can see the whole of my ceiling.
On the top of the bottle there is a triangular spray release button, also made out of the silver reflective plastic and the spray comes from a hole in the front of the silver plastic.
An apple sticker is stuck to the side of the silver plastic with 'DKNY Red Delicious 100% Pure New York' written on.
I like the bottle design. It looks nice and the silver plastic looks nice and does not tarnish easily.
~ Scent ~
The scent reminds me of a sweet red juicy apple.
The notes include champagne, lychee, raspberry, apple, rose, amber, musk and vanilla.
The scent has a fizziness to it, which I think intensifies the fruity apple scent. I can also detect a delicate floral element to this fragrance.
It is a lovely scent. It is crisp and fresh, but at the same time it is quite deep and it is heavier than I had expected.
I have been really impressed with the staying power of this perfume. I often find fruity fragrances can wear off quickly, but I wore this yesterday and was still getting whiffs of it after about 6 hours and it was still quite strong on my wrist over 12 hours after application, which I think is brilliant.
I was also impressed with the sillage. There are not many fragrances that I have used that are still so strong after 6 hours.
As it is quite deep I think it would be acceptable to wear for nights out as well as day time wear and the longevity is a bonus.
I think the range is aimed at a younger audience, but I think this scent would appeal to older women as well. It becomes quite floral as it dries down and it is quite a deep scent. I think it smells quite expensive.
~ Conclusion ~
I love this scent. I would recommend it and I would definitely buy another bottle if mine was to run out.
It has great lasting power and sillage. It is versatile, appealing to women of all ages and being appropriate for day or night time wear.
The bottle is really nice and I think the price that I paid on cheapsmells.com is really good. It is reasonable enough to buy as a gift for a friend or family member and it is certainly a gift that I would be very happy to receive.
For Christmas most years I ask my brother to buy me a bottle of perfume and this year the bottle that I asked him to buy for me was the DKNY red delicious as I had seen it on a really good offer. This is my review of the product.
The fragrance comes in a small cardboard box with the fragrance name, brand name and what not on it but it is really all about what is inside the box that matters isnt it?! Inside the box there is a bottle of the perfume which is designed to look like an apple as per the delicious brand name. This particular fragrance features a red glass bottom and a shiny silver top which features an integrated spray for using the product. I really like the design of the bottle and I think it looks modern and trendy on my dressing table. I think most people would like the design of the bottle but there is one small issue with it in that as it is so round it is quite bulky and so I can't put it in my clutch bag or something for a night out.
You can probably gather from the name DKNY red delicious and the shape of the apple bottle that it is going to be quite a fruity scent. Looking online I can confirm that the fragrance uses a base note of apple and is complimented by red fruits, vanilla, rose, and violet for what is described as a "sultry summer scent". I am a bit rubbish when it comes to picking out particular notes in a fragrance hence looking online but whenever I review a fragrance I do like to have a go at describing it in my own way too. For me the first thing that I detect is the fruitiness of the scent and the apple does stand out really. Although the fragrance is described as a "sultry summer scent" I don't think that it is particularly just for the summer season! It does have a sexy, sultry scent to it which is fruity yet a little musky for me too and I do think that it makes a perfect scent for all year round really.
I like to wear this perfume both for day to day and for night time occasions too when I may be going out for a meal or something. My only issue with using it for nights out is the fact that I cannot pop it in to one of my smaller bags and I do like to be able to top up my perfume on a night out. I do think that the fragrance suits every occasion really and it really is a versatile scent.
The fragrance is initially very strong when you first spray it and the spray does pump out quite a good burst of the eau de parfum spray so you don't need to keep spraying it to get a good amount of the fragrance on your wrist or neck or whatever. The fragrance does settle down quite soon after application and leaves a really fruity, sweet fragrance behind. The scent of the perfume lasts well throughout the day but obviously does become fainter as the day goes on. It is still noticeable hours after application but I do think for a night out you would want to be able to reapply it.
I have the 50ml eau de parfum spray and this costs £48.00 from Boots but on the run up to Christmas it was on offer in many places for just over half of that price! It is a bargain at the reduced price and so I would advise having a look around and seeing what offers you can find before you purchase it. Cheap smells and fragrance direct are places worth a look in my opinion. It is also available in 30ml and 100ml formats should you want to look out for any of those though obviously the price will change accordingly.
I do think this is a good quality, high end perfume which is fruity yet sexy and it is one that I enjoy wearing. I would certainly recommend trying this one out!
Thank you for reading my review!
I know there was a lot of hype when be delicious perfume by Donna Karen came out and for quite some time they were very well known and popular. I never really paid too much attention towards it simply because the bottle was shaped like an apple and I really didn't want anything to do with an apple like perfume since I don't like fruity heart notes.
It wasn't until last week that I was in the mood to buy a perfume and be delicious was on for less than half price at Boots. I thought instead of buying some cheap perfume for under 20 pounds, I might as well give this perfume a try. I got a staff member to spray it on my wrist and I spent the whole day wearing it to see if I liked it or not. At first I wasn't in love with it but as the day went on, the smell seemed to grow on me and I actually really liked it. It definitely smells better after a little while and it seemed to last all day too. I went into boots later that day and ordered myself a 50ml bottle which only cost me 23 pounds and 50 pence. I was really pleased with myself for bagging such a great bargain on a perfume and now I treasure it. I wear it only when I am going out for tea or to a friends house. It is originally priced at 48 pounds for the 50ml bottle.
The bottle is shaped like an apple with red coloring, to give the illusion of red liquid inside. It is a glass bottle with a steel sort of cap in which the spray nozzle is embedded. The design of the bottle isn't great in terms of functionality as when I try and spray it on my neck, I feel like I don't have much grip on the bottle which can easily cause the bottle to fall and break.
Over all I love the sweet smelling perfume because it smells pretty feminine and girly. I was pleasantly surprised to discover it doesn't at all smell like apples in any way. The base notes are of red raspberry and amber while the heart notes consist of rose. All the while, the top notes are of champagne, lychee and red apples. A very different but sultry combination.
I do wish I had tried this perfume before but better late than never. It is one of my new favorite perfumes and I am so glad I bought it.
I was running out of all my perfumes at the same time so I decided to treat myself to some rather than wait and hope to get some for my birthday. I tend to stick to the same fragrances so thought I would have a look for something different this time round. My cousin has one of the fragrances by DKNY which I really liked but trying it in the store it didn't seem like it suited me. The assistant directed me to a new fragrance by DKNY - Red Delicious - and upon smelling it I knew that it was the one for me.
DKNY Red Delicious comes in a striking red box and features the familiar DKNY logo across the top and front in large bold lettering. Just above the logo there is a white and pink label telling me what the fragrance is - this is just like a sticker you would see on an apple! The box is a perfect cube shape and is very modern in appearance.
The bottle itself is very appealing, shaped like an apple and looks very sleek. To look at the bottle it looks as though it is split in two sections. The lid is silver and covers a third of the bottle and in the centre you will see a small dip which is where you press to release the fragrance. The bottom section of the bottle is red glass and slightly see through so you can see just how much of the fragrance you have left inside. On the front of the bottle you will see the same "apple sticker" label as you do on the outside of the box. The bottle is so simple, yet so attractively designed.
Spraying the perfume for the first time I was a little shocked at how much spray came out, but after a couple of uses I was aware of just how hard to press the lid to release the spray so I can now ensure I don't use too much! DKNY Red Delicious is quite a strong fragrance, and it is very fruity and girly but not overly feminine as it is so strong (if that makes sense!). It is stated that "This delicious scent blends a glittering champagne accord with exotic lychee, while red raspberry flirtatiously mingles with crisp apple. A sensual blend of vanilla bean and amber cap off this sultry experience". I admit that I can't pick out any of those notes and I think there is a hint of melon smell in there?!
I adore this perfume, I think it is the nicest I have ever had and has definately overtaken Hugo Woman and Issey Miyake for me! I think this perfume is definately one for nights out use rather than day use but I have to say I love it so much I've been using it for both and I know its going to run out fast!! Like I say the spray does come out quite fast and there is a lot of it, that does take some getting used to but it isn't one of those sprays that really wets and leaves a mark. I find that this fragrance lasts really well and I have never had to reapply during the day or night which is really good and makes a nice change from the perfumes I have used in the past.
DKNY Red Delicious is quite an expensive perfume, I got a great deal at The Perfume Shop as 100ml was on offer for £28.50 and should have been over £50! I cannot recommend this fragrance enough, I just love it!
Thank you for reading my review.
I already owned the DKNY Be Delicious fragrance and when DKNY launched a new version of this perfume in 2008 I knew I had to get my hands on some. It was originally only a limited edition perfume but they have continued to sell this as I presume it sold so well and I can definiately see why.
As it is a slightly older perfume you can get it for around £20 for a 30ml bottle and £30 for a 50ml which isn't really a bad price for a perfume compared to some. The bottle is much the same as the other Be Delicious perfume and is solid round ball shaped bottle with a silver lid and a spray dispenser. I really like these bottles but I probably would have prefered it if they made it slightly different to the other bottle. The only difference is that the glass is clear to show a red liquid inside rather than clear.
The perfume on first spray is really quite strong and almost slightly overpowering for a couple of seconds and although it is still a strong scent after a while it isn't overpowering and is really quite nice. I'm usually quite wary about perfumes with vanilla in as I find they can make things smell too sickly and sweet but I didn't even realise this has notes of vanilla in until I started writing this review! The perfume has quite a good staying power on my skin which is always a must for me as I don't like to carry around a bottle of perfume making my already heavy bag even heavier. I have received a lot of compliments when wearing this which I haven't usually had before wearing another perfume.
This perfume contains notes of apple, vanilla, violet, rose, raspberrys, amber and patchouli and even though it is a very fruity sweet fragrance with the patchouli in it adds a certain muskiness to it which I really like.
I can see why a lot of people could find this too sweet and my friend borrowed this perfume and on her skin it smelt over powering and completely different. I love this perfume but I would definiately recomend borrowing a few squirts from somewhere like Boots before buying.
I've been reading through alot of mixed comments about this perfume. Alot of people like it but alot of people also say that it is "too sweet".
I personally love it. It is very sweet but that's that idea of a big red juicy sweet apple. I got brought it as a christmas present back in 2009 and I still have atleast half left, not because I don't use it alot, but because it is very sweet, you don't need to put much on.
I work in a supermarket and one of the customers the other week actually stopped to ask me what perfume I was wearing and said it smelt really lovely!
I definately would say that once the perfume has worn off abit after spraying it on, thats the best time for the scent.
It's made of really nice glass with a silver top. It has a push button on top for the spray.
I have the larger size bottle and have had no signs or leakage.
The product looks really great on my side with is interesting Apple shape and vibrant red colour.
I would love them to make an apple and cinnamon perfume, I think that would smell divine if anything similar the this.
Here are the notes on the fragrence:
Champagne Accord, Lychee, Red Raspberry, Apple, Rose, Vanilla Bean, Patchouli, Amber, Sensual Skin Accord, Raspberry.
Bottom line: Does it make me feel Delicious?... Yes, Totally :D
I'm a big fan of the DKNY be delicious range. I first got hooked on the original 'green apple' be delicious scent so when I saw the red delicious perfume I was very intrigued. Red delicious comes in the same bottle as be delicious; an apple shaped product, fixed silver plastic lid with either a press button (50ml or bigger bottles) or a screw off lid for the 30ml bottles, the bottom is red glass.
The scent is of juicy red apples and is quite sweet. I love fruity juicy smells so loved this product. I find I prefer using this on an evening and keeping the green apple 'be delicious' for a day time. It stays true to the delicious range, with its bottle design but also the gorgrous fruity sweet scent. I am addicted.
Prices range a lot depending on store and offers. I first bought this as x2 30ml bottles for £30, but later bought a 100ml bottle in a xmas box set in the sale for £20. You really must shop around. For some reason red delicious tends to be cheaper or has better offers than be delicious.
If you like fruity or sweet smells you will love this scent. A few sprays last around 4-6 hours and you will get lots of compliments. I find it a must have fragrance.
Having worn DKNY Classic for many years, I am a big fan of the brand and thought I would try out a different perfume in their range. I personally am not keen on DKNY Green Delicious, but when I smelt Red Delicious in a shop I decided to buy it.
The scent is very fruity and juicy - the apple-shaped bottle really enhances the feeling of fruitiness. I also noticed a raspberry scent when I sprayed it.
For the first few minutes I could smell the perfume very strongly, and this continued for the rest of the day. While the smell is lovely at first, it was just too strong and heavy for me. I prefer citrussy perfumes and this was perhaps a little too sweet-smelling. I actually started to feel slightly unwell because the scent began to give me a headache after a while.
I ended up giving the perfume to my mum as I knew it just wasn't something I would be able to wear on a daily basis; however if I was going on a night out and was only going to be wearing it for a few hours, I might consider borrowing it back off her!
While personally, this perfume is not for me, I wouldn't dissuade anyone else from buying it. I have since smelt it on other people, and when I do, I always think how nice it smells. Perfumes are supposed to smell differently on different people, and I guess that DKNY Red Delicious just isn't suitable for me. I am also so used to the smell of DKNY Classic that I tend to find the smell of other perfumes on my skin a bit strange.
In short - it's a fruity smelling perfume which would be ideal if you like strong, sweet fragrances. The bottle looks glossy and curvy, and is a definite selling point. It's just not to my taste but it could be to yours.
