“ Brand: DKNY / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette / Gender: for women „
A few months ago when I was browsing on www.fragrantica.com (an online catalogue of perfume) I decided to have a look through DKNY's previous releases as I have bought quite a few DKNY fragrances recently.
I spotted these Candy Apple releases, which I had never seen before. I was rather excited and started searching the internet to see if I could buy them from a reliable seller.
I found a 50ml bottle of DKNY Delicious Candy Apples Sweet Caramel eau de parfum online at www.fragrancenet.com. This is an American website.
They had a bottle unboxed, but brand new which they were selling.
I couldn't work out how much it cost as the price was in US dollars and they later added VAT and the postage costs, which were quite expensive from what I remember and I also bought another perfume from the site to reduce the postage cost per item.
The bottles are designed to look like an apple, like the others in the DKNY range, but these bottles have a stick coming out of the top as if they are toffee apples.
When my bottle arrived I was disappointed to find that the stick had snapped off. I was unable to even try the fragrance as it would have to be returned so I was even more disappointed. I contacted fragrancenet.com and they issued a refund for the item without asking me to return it.
My refund was for £27.26.
I was thrilled and tried the fragrance out straight away. I later glued the stick back on with super glue and it is as good as new.
~ Bottle ~
The top of the bottle is made from bright green plastic and a silver plastic stick sticks out of the top at an angle with, 'DKNY' imprinted onto it.
There is a sticker on the side of the lid, which represents an apple sticker with, 'DKNY Delicious Candy Apples 100% Sweet New York Fun' written in small letters.
The bottom half of the bottle is made from clear glass and the liquid inside is a bright green colour.
The plastic top half of the bottle is removed as the lid and underneath is a silver spray release button.
~ Scent ~
I love the scent of this perfume.
It is supposed to be sweet caramel and I can definitely detect that. It is very sweet, but the fresh clean apple scent is still there.
It is quite an intense, sweet scent. The caramel and apple blend well together.
The top notes are apple, pear and marshmallow.
The heart notes are jasmine blossom, violet and lily.
The base notes are creamy caramel, soft vanilla and cream.
I can detect soft floral notes, but they blend well with the sweet, creamy caramel. The florals are not sharp at all and they are quite subtle in this fragrance.
The caramel and apple are the strongest notes, the caramel bringing something very different to this perfume.
I love the idea of this fragrance and I would love to get my hands on the others from the range as well.
The scent is impressively long lasting. I often find that sweet scents lack projection and staying power, but this fragrance lasts around 6 hours on my skin before fading away and requiring reapplication. I can smell it on myself during the day.
I would say this perfume is more of a day time scent, rather than one I would choose for nights out or special occasions.
It doesn't smell especially young and it smells quite expensive for a sweet perfume.
~ Conclusion ~
I really like this scent. It has a lovely sweet scent created from a blend of caramel and apple. It is very different from any other perfumes I have tried.
It is very hard to find from a reliable seller, but I managed to track this bottle down at a reasonable price.
I love the bottle design and the perfume is quite long lasting.
I would recommend this fragrance if you can get your hands on a bottle and I would buy another bottle if I ran out.
I bought this DKNY perfume from the airport on holiday and therefore it was duty free. It was also part of a pack with the pink bottle by DKNY for about 40Euros for both.
The bottle is the most interesting part of this perfume. It looks like a green apple on the bottle and then has a silver lid. You twist the lid off and the spray top is just underneath. The spray action is really easy to press down. The glass used on the bottom part of the bottle is a little bit see through and when the perfume comes out you will pleased to know that it is clear and not green!
Its a light fragrance and you will probably need to re apply partway throughout the day or evening. It does smell like apple but theres also a hint of sweetness and sugar. Its not overpowering and you can apply liberally.
I got through the bottle quite quickly using most days, but as it was part of a double set then it was nice to alternate the two.
It comes in a white box with the name 'delicious' and the DKNY brand. You can get this perfume in a gift set as well which has a shower product and a mini sample. If you want just the perfume it comes in two sizes. I would recommend trying it on your skin as it smells different on other people that I know who use it.
I never buy perfume anywhere except the airport usually but I have noticed that Boots at the moment have a sale on certain perfumes so check it out.
Having a partner who has a Birthday so close to Xmas can sometimes be a bit of a pain as I have to think long and hard about presents so as not to get the same sort of gifts across the two celebrations. However, as she is such a fan of perfumes a few bottles get me started on my shopping each year and this is always in her Birthday Box.
We stumbled on this fragrance by accident in a department store where testers were on display. Immediately the fragrance tickled both of our nosebuds and the fact that we could still smell it the next day, and the fact she hinted and hinted on, made it an essential purchase come Xmas time.
As suggested in the title this has a double dose of smell, apple and caramel. I tend to find that once sprayed and the fragrance has settled that it is the strong, fruity apple smell that dominates. If you prefer more subtle perfumes then this perhaps is not right for you as the smell is dominant and even the tiniest spray will get noticed by people around you. Which tends to be a good thing with this product as people are always impressed.
The caramel flavour hits you at first but tends to die down and be overpowered by the apple. The caramel aspect is more sweet and subtle compared to the strong and fruity tones of the apple core.
Being so fruity, so strong and with that hint of Caramel it has a very unique scent. At the end of day buying perfume often and living with a partner who is crazy about it, too many perfumes smell the same so its refreshing to have something a little bit different.
Also as already touched upon one of the huge benefits of this DKNY product is that with only a short spray it lasts a considerable amount of time. My partner can spray it in the morning and the appley odour will still be going strong into the evening or if wearing for a night out it lasts long into the morning. Many a time I have been woken up to the lovely lush scents of this of a morning after a night on the town. Hence the 50ml can last quite a while depending on use.
At around £25-£30 per 50ml bottle it is good value for money considering the branding and longevity of the smell, and DKNY always ensures quality.
Overall this is a very festive smelling, fruity, strong and long lasting fragrance that will bring a smile to your female relative, partner or friends face whatever the occasion!
I was bought this by an ex-boyfriend for my birthday (who obviously had no idea what to get me, and made a rather stupid choice seeing as I had my signature perfume - Ghost, Deep Night, see my review on it) and usually I stay away from hyped-up perfumes (it had just been released, in this new-fangled 'special edition' malarkey), but I wore this to be polite.
Maybe I was just being a bitch, because this is a really good perfume - it's a summery scent, mixing hints apple, flowers, caramel and vanilla. Ok, it's a gorgeous smell - it's just not very 'me', I don't wear fruits as a topnote - I eat them. I wear perfume as a confidence booster, and this made me more...shy? girly, rather than womanly? It definitely took me out of my comfort zone, as I was certain people could smell me a mile away.
Anyway, it's a lovely perfume - it smells good, occasionally overpowering (if you press too hard on the spritzer, which is on the top, where the stem of the 'apple' would be) and then it's difficult to get off an, if you're not used to the perfume, then it can stick and cloy to all day long.
I still wear this perfume occasionally - to meetings, in the summer - even after the boyfriend has been and gone. However, when it runs out, I'm not going to buy another one. I think it's expensive for an item that I'm not 100% over and wouldn't wear a lot. Having said that, what's right for one woman isn't for another, so if you smell it and it appeals - get it!
When Donna Karen first released her apple shaped and scented 'Delicious' and 'Be Delicious' fragrances they were an instant hit! They have since become her most popular range an have began to grow in popularity.
'Candy Apples' is a brand new limited edition of three range new fragrances; Ripe Raspberry, Juicy Berry and Caramel Apple. They come in a 50ml bottle which resembles a coloured apple shaped bottle, like the 'delicious' range but with a silver DKNY embssed stick coming from the top, like a candy apple! Its very cute and fun and comes in a nice box too.
The fragrance is an 'EDP'; Eau de Parfum which means it is a perfume rather than a 'toilette' so the fragrance is much more concentrated so it will smell stronger and last longer. You can get away with spraying only a couple of times the day to geta long lasting smell, where as toilettes require constamt top ups.
Each bottle costs £30 and are only available for a limited time (not too sure when this is) and can only be bought from Boots, which means you can earn or use your Advantage points to buy it.
I wasn't sure what I expected from this product, something resembling the original apple like scents or a whole new fruity fragrance. Well, as you may or may not know, perfume smells different on each person and also chaned throughout the day. However, I will give you my personal opinion but I would always recommend that you go try it yourself.
The first and main smells I get are of sweet caramel with undertones of fresh crisp apples. It still has a fruity background so it stays true to the delicious range but it has a certain sweet kick which makes it very fun and flirty. I'd recommend it for the day time, shopping, date, cinema trip etc.
The smell lasted on my skin for ages and I got addicted to sniffing it because I love the scent. The bottle seems to last forever. It's certainly unique and unlike anything I've ever smelt before. I do have all three of the candy apples range and my favourite is ripe raspberry as I love the cola and fruit scent. I don't think it has a strong resemblance to the apple scent of 'delicious' but it is very fruity, however with a nice new sweet mix.
