Disadvantages: may be too sweet for some, more for younger wearers
~Britney Spears Fantasy~
Britney Spears teamed up with Elizabeth Arden to offer a collection of endorsed fragrances. The 'Fantasy' collection includes four scents..
Today, I will be discussing the original Fantasy which is available in a eau de parfum and a body souffle. The official description for this EDP is 'a magic love potion of sweet temptation that leaves a tantalizing trail of embracing sensuality'.
~The Fragrance Notes~
As with other fragrances, Fantasy EDP has been created using three sets of fragrance notes. These fragrance notes develop on the skin over time :
*Top notes (the initial burst of fragrance on the skin) - golden quince, exotic kiwi and red lychee
*Heart notes (the main body of the fragrance) - jasmine petals, cupcake accord, white chocolate accord
*Base notes (the drydown fragrance) - orris root, creamy musk and sensual woods
As you can see from the above fragrance notes, Fantasy EDP would fall into the sweet/fruity fragrance family.
Each bottle in the Fantasy collection is similar in design. The original EDP is presented in a round glass bottle which is a deep pink colour. The bottle has little stuck on jewels, a gem encrusted ring around the neck of the bottle and a round pink lid. Some may say the bottle looks quite cheap but I like it.
The bottle is presented in quite a large box which folds open and is very colourful.
~Price and Availability~
Fantasy EDP is a relatively cheap fragrance to buy and is available on the highstreet and online at the following prices :
*Amazon UK : £13.63-£23.95 (30ml-100ml) gift sets available £17.09-£28.00
*Boots - £12.00-£25.53 (15ml-100ml) gift set is priced at £20.00
*Cheap Smells - £13.60-£23.95 (30ml-100ml) gift sets available £17.75-£29.95
I like quite a lot of celebrity endorsed fragrances and absolutely LOVE each of the Fantasy fragrances. I wasn't keen on Curious but will happily buy and use any of the Fantasy fragrances. Over the last few years, I have owned several bottles of Fantasy EDP. My current bottle is a 50ml size and I received it as a gift earlier this year - my best friend knows me well as this is one of my favourites.
The bottle has a spray top which when pressed down, releases a fine mist of liquid. Unlike with other 'cheap' fragrances, Fantasy doesn't give off the unpleasant, alcohol aroma after the scent hits the skin. I was impressed with the scent of Fantasy EDP from the first time I tried it. It won't appeal to all but if you adore sweet fragrances, you may well like this one. I favour sweet notes over any other so this is right up my street.
~Cupcake Scented Perfume?~
The initial aroma is absolutely gorgeous and has quite a powerful strength. The top notes are beautifully fruity and juicy. The fruity notes used are quite unusual and give the scent a unique, exotic sweetness without appearing unnatural or overpowering. At times, the top notes remind me of fruity sweeties which is very favourable. It certainly has a lovely youthful yet distinctly feminine feel to it. The top note blend is refreshingly sweet which I like and this makes it perfect for wearing during the warmer months.
The depth of the top notes lingers for a good hour or two before the decadent heart of Fantasy reveals itself. The heart is definitely my favourite part of the entire scent and smells absolutely stunning in my opinion. The main focus is on a flavoursome sweet aroma which is described as being a 'cupcake accord'. To me, it gives off a rich, sweet aroma which reminds me of sweet frosting on top of a cupcake. There is a delicate, authentic vanilla aroma through the scent which I feel is courtesy -of the white chocolate accord. The sweetness appeals to me. The jasmine petals adds an addition twist to the heart and takes the edge of the sweetness. It adds a sensual, slightly grown up tinge to the scent.
The frosting aroma and jasmine starts to fade after 4-5hours and the vanilla aroma increases slightly to form a creamy sweetness. The scent changes a little more and reveals a pleasant drydown scent. The woody notes are evident and a slight hint of musk. These notes combined with the sweet vanilla make for a gorgeous finishing scent. It remains noticeable on my skin for a few hours before weakening. The aroma is still noticeable on my clothing the next day and smells every bit as lovely. It radiates from my skin at a gorgeous strength to be detected by myself and those around me.
I will happily wear Fantasy EDP all year round but find it is perfectly suited for wearing during the warmer months. It is definitely a day time fragrance and is a lighter alternative to Midnight Fantasy (which is more suited to evening wear). Fantasy EDP is quite a girly scent. I have been using this since my late teens and I am now in my mid 20s. I still appreciate the youthful sweetness that this fragrance offers but can't imagine a more mature lady would like to wear this or receive it as a gift.
Several years on I still love Fantasy EDP. It lasts most of day on my skin and is of a decent quality. I don't feel the need to top up the scent through the day so my bottle is lasting really well. It is very unique smelling and I can pinpoint this fragrance if anyone walks past me wearing it. It certainly isn't cheap or generic smelling like some other celebrity fragrances. It is a feel good fragrance and I always feel happy when wearing it due to the perfectly arranged sweet notes.
This would make a nice, inexpensive gift for a young lady in my opinion.
Thanks for reading :)
