Each summer I buy a new a new perfume because I like certain aromas to remind me of different times in my life. I am going to Italy for the summer and so I thought my choice of Dolce Vita by Dior was rather fitting. Behind the fragrance The fragrance has been designed in order to recreate the feelings of being care free and happy. It is supposed to make you have the feelings of driving a convertible car along the Italian Riviera. It is a summery fragrance which should make you feel full of joy and relaxed. The fragrance was introduced in 1996. Notes The fragrance has top floral notes of the star shaped Magnolia, Lily and Rose. The heart is more fruity and it has been created using the aromas of peach and apricot with a earthy aroma of cinnamon mixed in. The bottom notes come with the warm aromas of vanilla and sandalwood to give the fragrance body and presence. Packaging The product comes contained within a glass bottle which is clear and you can see the golden liquid inside. It has indented circles spread across the bottle which is circular in shape and it has a flat bottom. There are some golden rings around the neck of the bottle which get larger as they go up. The lid looks like a crystal ball and when it is removed you see the gold dispenser which you push down on in order to dispense the product. Price I bought 30ml of the perfume and it cost me £39. The fragrance also comes available in sizes of 50ml and 100ml but these cost significantly more. The fragrance can be bought from department stores and also from a range of online websites. Application and Performance The bottle looks so classy and it is one that I am happy to be seen using in public. It releases the fragrance in a lovely mist as opposed to dispensing it in a shot which would stain clothes. A nice amount comes out with each push of the dispenser and two sprays is plenty for me. When you first smell the fragrance, it smells fruity and sugary. It's actually not far off Hubba Bubba when you first smell it which a strange but lovely aroma. The fragrance dies down within a couple of minutes and as it does, you are left with a more sophisticated aroma. It is very woody, with delicious hints of vanilla and a hint of spice which must come from the cinnamon. It is a really feminine fragrance and it is perfect for these summer months. It is one of the rare fragrances that suit both day and evening wear. It isn't overpowering or sickly but it is evident enough for others to make comments on it which is always positive. The fragrance is noticeable on myself but not to the point where it gets sickly. It is fairly long lasting but if I am on an evening out then I do find that reapplication is needed and it does fade gradually as the hours go on. I can notice it on cardigans at a later date but only faintly. The fragrance is gentle on my skin and it hasn't caused my skin any discomfort or irritations. The fragrance should last me a while as you only need to apply a little bit in order to get the desired results which justifies the price a little bit.
Several months ago, I bought a set of Dior fragrance miniatures from the airport, thinking it would be a good way to sample a number of different perfumes. I received five in the box and have tried them all substantially over the last few months. Today I'm going to review La Dolce Vita. ***Bottle*** The bottle for this fragrance is unique and distinctive. It is round like the Poison bottle, but made of yellowish clear glass which is pitted to make it look rather like the moon. ***The Fragrance*** Dolce Vita has been described as a "spicy woody floral", and is meant to evoke happiness and joie de vivre. It is composed of magnolia top notes, cinnamon heart notes and cedar base notes, an unusual combination. ***My Experience*** I've used all my Dior miniatures on several occasions, but Dolce Vita is the one which I have been drawn to the most. The name, with its happy connotations, attracted me but the fragrance itself has become one of my favourites. When I first apply the perfume, I notice the floral aspect, which has a hint of vanilla and is rich and warm. The fragrance as a whole is sensual and spicy with a woody undertone. Over time, the spicy aspect of the fragrance comes out and begins to dominate, followed by the woody aspect. I find that many perfumes out there smell quite similar, but I've never come across anything like Dolce Vita - it is totally unique. The perfume lasts about five or six hours, which is pretty impressive. It lasts even longer on clothes - if I wear a scarf when I'm wearing the perfume I notice the scent for several days afterwards. It is more of an evening perfume but I have worn it during the day on occasions when I am doing something special. ***Price and Availability*** Dolce Vita costs £73 for 100ml of eau de toilette, £51 for 50ml and £38 for 30ml. It is certainly an expensive fragrance, but you really do get what you pay for, as it is incredibly high quality. ***Conclusion*** Dolce Vita has become one of my favourite fragrances and I would certainly consider purchasing a larger bottle if I had any spare cash. It is an unique, spicy floral scent and one which I highly recommend.
One of the classic Dior perfumes, long running and withstood the test of time! -Scent- A spicy-sweet floral fragrance that is deep and sensuous. This is certainly no litte girl perfumes, or something that would be promoted by the pop star du jour. Magnolia provides a creamy vanilla fragrance, giving sweetness without the sickliness. Cedar and cinnamon add a refined touch, taking the edge of the sweet vanilla, and providing depth and spice. The end result is light enough for every day use, but retains its individuality and adds a classy, sophisticated touch. Cedar is actually used a lot in male perfumes, so the masculine touch makes it perfect for wearing to work. -Longevity- The initial vanilla notes hit you when sprayed, but die down to release the spicier, more masculine scents. This scent lingers throughout the day, and still smells fresh after eight hours. -The Bottle- A dappled sunlight effect bottle is meant to evoke the Italian Riviera. Whether it actually does is down to the individual, but it certainly is a unique design. The clear bottle allows the natural golden colour of the perfume to shine through, and lends the bottle a classy finish. As with most perfumes in this range, you can expect to pay £50 for 50ml. Boots usually offer the 100ml bottle at a reasonable price in comparison, otherwise your best bet would be duty free (can be as low as £35 for 50ml).
Dolce Vita is my favourite perfume. It is also one of the most expensive perfumes I own and as such I always receive as a gift rather than buying for myself. My current bottle my husband brought for me at Christmas is the 50ml eau de toilette version. It's a classic Christian Dior fragrance that was launched back in 1996 and although Dior markets the perfume as daywear I think it is far too strong and prefer it as an evening fragrance. The bottle I think resembles a golf ball in that it is round with different size dimples all over it and the name dolce vita in gold around the base of the neck. The bottle in my opinion is very pretty and looks high quality. It is also very easy to hold and spray which is something that some novelty shaped perfumes are not easy to do. There is a smaller golf ball shape to take off the gold neck of the bottle as the lid. This fits very snugly so won't come off easily and get lost. The actual spray of the perfume is a nice fine mist and sprays in a good wide enough area unlike other perfumes I have that eject the perfume in just one concentrated stream. I also have the shower gel and body lotion as my friend who works in the perfumery department of Debenhams (very handy friend to have) says the secret to a long lasting scent is to layer on the smell so using several different products all of the same scent will prolong the staying power. Personally I find the scent does last longer than cheaper perfumes and my friends have commented on how nice I smell when I wear the fragrance which shows it does last past leaving your front door. Smelling my wrists (I can't small my neck which is the other place I apply) I can still smell the scent at lunchtime and when I get home I can still make it out, but by bedtime it has more or less faded so if I was going out in the evening I would reapply. However I rarely wear it during the day not only because I feel it's too strong but also the expense, I wear cheaper scents during the day unless a special occasion. The perfume is a blend of magnolia, rose, cinnamon, peach, apricot with bottom notes of vanilla and sandal wood. I was really surprised to find out cinnamon is listed as I can't stand the smell (or taste for that matter) but as I can't make it out in the scent don't let this put you off if you don't like either equally you be disappointed if you buy this hoping it would! I'm not surprised that vanilla and sandalwood are notes included as I do loves these. I'm not very good at picking out individual notes but what I do think is it's a very strong woody scent not an overly floral feminine scent, that settles down after a couple of minutes and lasts a very good length of time. I love all Dior perfumes so if you already wear one of there scents you may like this one. Available in chemists (i.e. some larger Boots stores) and department stores, in the following sizes at approx prices 30ml £36.50 50ml £49 100ml £69.50 If interested the shower gel is approx £25 for 200 ml Body lotion £17.99 for 200 ml Best to get them in a gift set as works out much cheaper.
Dolce Vita is a perfume I have being using for many years now. I find this sweet oriental fragrance a lovely scent to wear in the summer and when I wear it in the winter in reminds me of those sunny and warm days. Dolce Vita is a perfume from Christian Dior it has been around since the mid 1990's and I think still stands the test of time. Packaging ************ The perfume it self comes in a lovely warm yellow colored cardboard box with gold raised dots across it. The box on the Dooyoo picture is actually wrong and shows the Eau de Dolce Vita perfume which is a totally different perfume. The bottle inside is round clear glass with a raised gold metallic bit at the top with then has the atomizer attached to the top. The cap of the bottle is plastic round one. The bottle has cut away rounds in it which gives the bottle a lovely tactile quality. These cutaway sections also make the glass and the perfume in it reflect light really nicely. The golden color of the perfume just looks like liquid gold. The atomizer is a de press pump and I have never had any problems with any of the bottles I have own of this releasing the perfume in a nice accurate spirit. The smell *********** Top notes lily, peach, bergamot, grapefruit, rose, cardamom, and magnolia When I first spritz this perfume on the first thing that hits me is a sweet note which I think must be the lily. In the top notes you also get the strong floral note of magnolia but after about 10 minutes the creaminess of the magnolia then comes through so personally I think the magnolia is both a top and middle note. I never actually notice any of the citrus notes in this perfume at all even though they are there with the grapefruit and bergamont. Instead I always notice straight away the floral notes with a hint of spice from the cardamon. When I first put the perfume on it always reminds me of late spring time when the buds are coming out on the magnolia tree in my garden and how the lazy summer days are coming. Middle notes apricot, lily, cinnamon, heliotrope After about 10 minutes the middle notes are more in evident and the warmth of the cinnamon especially comes through this I personally find nice balances out the earlier floral notes and stops it for me becoming to floral. The heliotrope is also noticeable here with its almond and vanilla notes in some ways it reminds me of those lovely Italian biscuits that are covered in icing sugar called riccelli. These middle notes are present for a long time and linger nicely on my skin I find this a nice mix of spice and flower. Base notes sandalwood, vanilla, coconut, Atlas cedar The cedar and sandalwood assert themselves more clearly later on. The rich woody tones are stopped from becoming to masculine in my opinion by the vanilla notes which seem to balance it out nicely. However the vanilla I think is quite subtle rather than a strong vanilla such as some scented candles. I really like wearing this cent for these base notes as the warmth of the spice and vanilla as so warm and mellow and never give me a headache as some more powerful scents can. Overall *********** This is a lovely perfume I personally find it is a great scent to wear in summer and for summer evenings especially when the floral of the magnolia and heliotrope are nicely balanced by the spiciness of the cinnamon sandalwood and cedar. I do like to wear this scent on some nasty autumn dreek filled days as the heady scents remind me of the smells of late spring and summer. The name of this perfume Dolce Vita means depending on the translation the "sweet life" or "good life" and both seem to me to sum up this perfume perfectly as it is evocative of happy summer days when you can stroll through a garden. Dior wants to try to evoke care free days on the Italian Rivera with this perfume and wants you to imagine driving along the roads in a soft top car with the roof down. Now unfortunately I have never done this but this perfume does make me think of such films as Three Coins in a Fountain and days that I have had on holiday in Rome and wearing this scent as times helps me evoke those pleasant holiday memoirs I personally like this oriental woody fragrance and would recommend it to other people who like similar scents. The perfume retails from around £40 for a 50Ml bottle of EDT and is certainly one I have on my Christmas wish list
Wow!!! I just love this perfume. The name La dolce vita is derived from the italian pharse meaning 'the sweet life' and it does bring 'sweetness' in your life. It comes in a very elegant and nicely designed bottle thats in a class of its own. The perfume is long lasting and is great for everyday wear. Its quite a different scent(oriental woodly fragrance sort of) and thats probably due to the fact that it combines a blend of peach, apricot, cinnamon, rose and magnolia combined with vanilla and sandalwood!!! If you don't like scents that are strong or fruity, then dolce vita is for you. Just one whiff and you'll be floating in clouds. It is reasonly priced and you can get good deals all year round especially for the 50ml bottle. I have been using the perfume for years and have no reservations recommending it to anyone. Hope you enjoy wearing it just as i have done!!!
Beautifully sweet and delicious! Dolce Vita by Christian Dior is a composition of cedarwood, delicately layered with stewed peaches and dusted with cinnamin and vanilla pod. A fantastic, elegant and long lasting fragrance which will have you floating on a cloud with one spray!! Enormously popular and an elegant and sensual choice, excellent value for money and a firm favourite of mine! Not only popular amongst women, but the men love it aswell!! Dolce Vita can be worn as a day or special ocassion perfume throughout the year. As a perfume consultant in Boots, this perfume was always an excellent seller, popular with all ages and one of the most loved of the Christian Dior perfumes.
