Disadvantages: Not a nice smell, irritates my skin.
I have been wondering if I should write this review for a while because I don't want to offend anyone who wears this regularly. Hopefully it will just be read as my honest opinion. Also it was bought as a gift for me. But, I will go ahead, as I don't think it's likely that this review will be read by my family.
This perfume has been bought for me as a gift by different family members on three separate occasions, and...I can't stand it!
I don't think I'm hard to please as far as fragrances go. I am always keen to try out new perfumes, and although, of course, I have my favourites, there aren't many scents that I dislike but I think this on eis aful.
I now have an opened 30 ml bottle which was part of a set which came with a body lotion and shower gel included. Th second is, I believe, (as I've put it out of the way somewhere) a 50 ml size and it remains unopened. The third is still in-its cellophane and is a 100 ml bottle.
This seems such a shame as someone must like it but I have to be careful about giving these away, as I don't want the well meaning giver of the gift to know that don't like it. But then again, I wouldn't want another bottle to turn up in my Christmas stocking!
I'm honestly not trying to be funny, but the smell of this generates very strange behaviour in my Westie dog. For the purpose of writing this review I sprayed a small amount on my wrist so that I could review it better. I have just let the dog in from the garden. Usually he would choose to walk pas me and choose a spot to snuggle up in. But this time he came straight up to me, nostrils working over time, and is trying to lick this perfume off while I type. He is never normally like this but I noticed (couldn't not!) this behaviour before when I wore it. The only other thing that brings about a similar response is E45 cream. Strange!
Well back to the perfume. It must be me as I have seen favourable reviews but I am struggling to find something good to say about this one. Indeed, the only thing I can think of is that it's cheap. But then it should be!
The aroma is strong from the start. It has a strange smell and I don't know if it is sunflowers or not. I find it positively overbearing and headache inducing. It isn't pretty. It isn't subtle. In fact I can't wait much longer until I wash it off. I can feel it starting to tighten and irritate on my skin.
Top Notes: Peach, bergamot and melon.
Heart Notes: Osmanthus, cyclamen and tea rose with jasmine.
Base Notes: Moss, musk and sandalwood.
Elizabeth Arden's Sunflowers was designed
'for the outgoing and bold attitude of a woman. '
The notes 'create a fragrance which is a delightful scent to be worn in the evening.'
I don't wish to offend anyone as perfume is very much a matter of different tastes and opinions but I honestly wouldn't recommend this smell to any one of any age to wear at any time.
Well, long life in a perfume is usually a good quality, and this one does last well. When I first wore this and I went to a shopping centre, I kept being able to smell it on myself and didn't like it. I kept it on for a while, hoping It would grow on me but, alas, it didn't. This is one of the very few scents that I have disliked so much that I've had to, while out, find toilets so that I could wash it off. After washing this off the smell still lingered so I can say that it's long lasting.
AFFECT ON SKIN
After about ten minutes of wearing my skin felt irritated, and stung slightly. I think with repeated wear this perfume would cause a reaction on my skin, which tends to be sensitive. However most perfumes do not affect me in this way.
There's nothing special about this bottle. The gold liquid shows through the bottle, which is long with a white dome shaped plastic lid. The lid has a tiny sunflower design printed on it in orange. Sunflowers is written on it in the same colour.
The set looked quite nice with the yellow and gold sunflower design.
