I have always been a big lover of perfumes and am always looking for my new scent. My aunt, knowing my passion for perfumes, buys me a new scent each year for Christmas. As it so happens, last Christmas (December 2009) she bought me Emporio Armani She. I had not smelt this perfume before, and even though it had been out for a good ten years, I am ashamed to say I had not even heard of it. I had heard of the recent Armani perfumes such as Emporio Armani code and Armani fuel for life but not 'She'. I was very pleased with my aunt's purchase as 'She' is now one of my favourite perfumes (saying that I probably have four or five favourites...)

WHAT/WHO IS ARMANI?:

Giorgio Armani is an Italian fashion designer, who formed the company Armani in 1975 and by 2001 was acclaimed as the most successful designer to come out of Italy. The Armani name has become a worldwide recognisable brand and is considered one of the most prestigious names in the fashion industry. The Armani Company design a range of items such as: haute couture, shoes, watches, jewellery, accessories, eyewear and cosmetics. The brand markets these products under several, highly-specialized sub-labels including Giorgio Armani, Armani Collezioni and Emporio Armani. Emporio Armani is the brand for the perfumes manufactured by the company and launched Emporio Armani She in 1998.

THE SCENT:

The scent of 'she' is very feminine. The perfume is described by Armani as being a blend of 'floral and oriental scents'. The first scent that hits me is the fruity smell of lime and orange, after a second sniff the scent of pineapple is apparent (not normally a scent I like but it blends well with the others). After a while you begin to smell hints of musk and vanilla which surprisingly compliment the zesty fruity smell well. This is described as a soft fragrance as it is not over powering and can be worn (in my opinion) during both the day and at night.

The scent lingers for a long time so there's not much need for re application as with some of the newer and cheaper fragrances. This obviously means even though it is more expensive it actually works out to be much better value for money! I'd recommend this fragrance for women who prefer fresh, light fragrances than the currently popular, sugar-sweet bottles on the market.

THE PACKAGING AND BOTTLE DESIGN:

Many people have been quite annoyed by the way in which this perfume is packaged. Unlike many perfumes it does not come in a cardboard box but instead this perfume comes in a foil wrapper. The foil is a gold colour and comes with the Armani logo across it as well as the name of the perfume. On the one side of the packaging is a list of the ingredients that can be found in the perfume. To open the perfume you need to just tear on end of the packaging and the bottle will be revealed. However, unlike the majority of people who will find the lack of cardboard packaging annoying, I like this method of packaging. This gold foil really allows the perfume to stand out from the crowd and the unusual way in which it is stored only adds to its beauty of being unique.

Similar to the packaging, the bottle for the Armani She is not like any other bottles of perfume that I have seen. The perfume is in a gold metallic round bottle and looks futuristic. Considering that this perfume was launched around ten years ago it does look really modern. However, one major flaw, in my opinion, with the bottle design is that you cannot see how much of the perfume you have left as you cannot see the fragrance through the gold colouring of the bottle.

PRICE:

As this was a gift, I do not know what the original price my aunt purchased this at but as it was a present for Christmas 2009, I am sure you can find it cheaper now. Christmas is an excellent time to buy new perfumes as shops like the perfume shop often do lovely gift sets that will not break the bank. From amazon (my wonder shop where I practically purchase everything) a 100ml bottle will set you back £52.82, a 50ml bottle will cost you £38.79 and you can purchase 30ml for the price of £24.95. Although this is particularly pricey, especially as celebrity branded bottles can cost as cheap as £10, I believe that the price of Emporio Armani She is well worth the extra pennies. You're not paying for the name, as some might suggest, but are paying for a gorgeous scent that could easily become your signature scent due to its versatility.

OVERALL:

This scent is definitely worth taking a trip down to boots or your local retailer of perfume just to have a gold old sniff yourself. This brand is very popular with twenty year olds as it still has the feminine essence but has a classier scent then the Celebrity perfumes that are ideal for teens and young twenty year olds. This is a scent that I myself know I will be wearing more often once I feel I am too old for scents such as Britney Spears' Curious and Vera Wang's Preppy Princess (which I have also reviewed on dooyoo). I can see this scent being my signature scent as it is ideal for day and night wear, unlike some perfumes.

I would give his perfume a rating of 5/5 as I can find no faults with it.
