I love this perfume, it has a very cheery, floral summer smell to it, it does definitely. A great mood uplifter, puts me on the mood to wear a floral dress and run in a field! haha The bottle is made beautifully its all very elegant and trendy.
I do definitely think that this specific perfume has a certain age boundary..This isn't the sort of fragrance I would imagine a 40 something woman to wear, this is much more suited to younger women. Although having said that my mother has actually taken my one as she loved the smell so much, so I have had to purchase another!!
Most perfumes I find are very over bearing and actually make me feel quite ill smelling them, walking into perfume shops I usually find quite tough in itself, but this perfume specifically even in a large quantity smells lovely! The floral smell can never be too over bearing it has a lovely fruity scent to it aswell. Would be terrific to purchase this and wear it in the winter as a little pick me up!
---------------- Why I bought this fragrance? -------------------
I was browsing the perfume section in Boots in August last year and tried this fragrance on a tester card alongside many other fragrances: both new to the market and fragrances that have been around for some time now. This fragrance for some reason was the one that stuck with me. It was strong enough for me to remember the smell but not overpoweringly strong that I would dislike it.
--------------------- Did I purchase it? -------------------
Of course I did, I could not resist when I had enough Boots points to cover the full amount for the fragrance. It was £32.00 for a 50ml Eau de Toilette (EDT).
Other sizes include: the 100ml EDT at £40.00 and the 30ml EDT at £21.00 (It does not come in Eau de Parfum).
Also in the Escada Ocean Lounge range is a 150ml body lotion at £15.00, and a 150ml bath and shower gel at £13.00.
---- The notes of the fragrance and how it smells once applied ----
When I first sprayed the fragrance onto my skin a mixture of fruit and sweet ingredients caught my attention. They are such an unusual blend of ingredients that I have never smelt together before.
The fruit notes include: lychee, plum, pear nectar accord, strawberry meringue accord
Other notes include: violet petal sorbet, mimosa blossom, jasmine, ambery notes, sheer vanilla and teakwood
But despite the fragrance containing some floral ingredients it certainly does not smell floral in the slightest. The strawberry meringue accord and jasmine seem to be the notes that I smell the most throughout the fragrance and these instantly caught my attention when I first sprayed it.
After 10 minutes: An overall sweet yet fruity smell lingers still quite strongly. But now more of the fruit notes come through like the plum and lychee. But after smelling it I was left with the note which seems to get noticed at the end which was the jasmine again.
After a few hours: The smell is not quite so strong. It is as if the sweet fruit notes and the floral notes are blending slightly better together.
It seems a rather strange analysis to make about a fragrance but there is no other way I can describe it. But it is as if the notes when first sprayed are separate notes like separate pieces of a jigsaw; you know they will eventually blend/fit together in the end though. Then once you have let the fragrance settle for several minutes it is like you have fitted several pieces of the jigsaw together. Then after a few hours the jigsaw is complete so the notes of the fragrance have perfectly blended together.
There are lots of fragrances on the market that you can smell an overall smell but not individual ingredients but with this fragrance the notes seem so unusual that you can pick them out as you smell it.
------------- When should this perfume be worn? ---------------
This perfume is described as being a sweet summery fragrance but to me this does not seem entirely correct. Yes it is a lovely summer fragrance but to me it reminds me of a sunset when I look at the bottle and the fragrance seems to reflect the mood I feel when I see a sunset. That warm happy feeling. The bottle is narrower at the bottom then it gradually becomes slightly wider and then goes very narrow and curved at the top where you spray the fragrance. The bottom of the bottle is a dark orange which moves into a lighter then deeper purple as you move up the bottle to eventually becoming clear. If you imagine dropping some dots of dark dye into a clear bottle of water and then the dye starts to spread out and merge with the clear water that is what the bottle reminds me of. But the colours are like a sunset with the warm, deep orange colour. The box of the bottle has a girl with sunglasses on looking out to somewhere which again makes me think she should be looking out to a sunset admiring it. However she is wearing a swimming costume (so the image they seem to be giving off from the packaging is that it is a summer fragrance). The fragrance also only comes out in the summer as a limited edition. Each year it smells quite similar and has the same shaped bottle but it is different colours and has different names, for example this year's version of the Escada fragrance is called Marine Groove and the colours are dark and light purple.
I do feel though that because the fragrance is such a warm, sweet yet fruity fragrance that it can be worn all year around. It is quite a rich fragrance too which gives it some depth and longevity to possibly be worn in winter. Most summer limited edition fragrances are very light or lighter versions of an original fragrance. But this one is not one of those.
---------------------------- Overall --------------------------------
This fragrance has such unusual ingredients which make me smell it several times once I have applied it. Whilst wearing it different notes burst out to me but they eventually merge together after a few hours of wear. The fragrance is a long lasting fragrance which I can usually still smell around 5 hours later. To me this is a long lasting fragrance because I can still smell it, usually when wearing a fragrance yourself you can no longer smell it on you after the first hour or two yet other people can smell it on you. But for an Eau de Toilette I am very impressed by the longevity of the fragrance.
The only way to thoroughly describe this fragrance is to express how alluring and intoxicating it is (in a good way). The perfect blend of sweet and fruit notes in a fragrance. I feel unique when wearing it.
I bought a bottle of Escada Ocean Lounge to take with me on holiday. It was one of the lightest fragrances I could find-and it is the ideal fragrance for the summer. When I bought the fragrance I was told that it was a limited edition, so when I realised how nice it was I actually bought a 100ml bottle from duty free on the way back from holiday. In duty free I paid £35.00 which I thought was excellent. The initial 30ml bottle I purchased had cost £23.00-but was worth every penny.
The fragrance has various hints of exotic summer fruits. Sweet strawberry meringue, frozen lychee, Kakadu plum and Anjou pear nectar are the main notes included in this fragrance. It also includes floral notes, which stand out a mile.
The fragrance comes in a white, purple, fuschia and red box which looks fruity and summery in itself. The actual bottle is clear, red and fuschia. They also sell a body lotion and shower gel with exactly the same fragrance.
I would recommend this fragrance to anybody who likes a light, fruity yet refreshing fragrance. It's good value for money and can be worn all year round, although I personally use it for the summertime. The fragrance lasts quite a long time and is the ideal strength, so that you smell sweet without being tacky.
I have always been a fan of Escada fragrances. They really remind me of holidays abroad as I usually buy them at the airport and wear them whilst I am away.
I find that they generally smell quite sweet and fruity which is something I usually go for when choosing a scent.
Ocean Lounge is one of many limited editions from Escada which was released in the summer of 2008. The packaging of these "limited editions" is always quite similiar with the same general shape of bottle and bright colours making them very eye-catching and appealing.
Again this is a sweet fragrance but not sickly at all. It does smell very fruity and flowery but it is quite fresh and light. I find the staying power of this scent very good. Even after a very long day, although the scent has faded, I can still smell it quite clearly.
A very feminine scent that is a joy to wear. I tend to wear this during the day as I prefer something a little "heavier" for a night out.
I have had many compliments when wearing this which can only be a good thing.
I would definitely recommend this if like me, you are partial to fruity, sweet scents.
The cheapest price I have found for 30ml of this is £13.99 at Fragrance Direct.
I came across this fragrance purely by accident on one of my trips to my nearest Debenhams. They had this one on sale for only £10.27 and after having smelt it, I simply couldn't pass up this awesome bargain!
I decided to look this up after I purchased it and found out that is this a very new fragrance and was released by Escada for the summer just gone. I guess the reason why they've decided to sell it so cheap is because summer is over and it must have been a limited edition product.
It has a wonderful fresh and sweet berry scent and I fell in love with it straight away. It's such a nice summery fragrance (but try and stop me wearing this in winter!) it smells perfect for daytime but also for evenings and going out.
The only other Escada perfume I own is also a limited edition and called sunset heat. That one is also very fruity and smells of peaches. What these two fragrances have in common is that they're both very sweet and fruity.
The packaging is also very fresh and young looking, just like the scent. It comes in a clear curvy bottle and there's a gradient of pink to red for two thirds of the bottle. The size is got is 30ml so small enough to take in my bag for when I want to reapply when out and about.
I find that the scent stays on my skin for ages and doesn't fade for hours. I love the sweet berry scent of this fragrance and will definitely be wearing this many times. Unfortunately I might not get to repurchase in future if I so wish as it looks like one of their limited edition items. So if you like sweet fruity scents, do check this out if you still can!
I'll tell you from the offset- Ocean Lounge is the best perfume I have had the pleasure of smelling. I'm not normally one for expensive perfumes, for me they were just something to ocupy my time in duty-free at the airport, definetly not worth wasting pounds after pounds on if a cheaper eau de toilette or deodorant can do the same job. However after coming across Ocean Lounge I knew I had to buy it whatever the cost.
Firstly the scent is *heavenly*. It embodies everything that is summer, it's flowery, fruity and a really gorgeous juicy frangrance all round. Some scents get a bit bland after you've used them for a while, but Ocean Lounge is so moreish everytime long after you'd started using it.
What I like most about Ocean Lounge is how long the fragrance lasts. All the other cheap mini perfumes I'd bought you'd be lucky if they last a few hours, Ocean Lounge you're looking at a minimum of 12 hours. Depending on if you shower, what you get upto, how much you sweat etc, I've even found it lasted a full day- and that was just from a few test sprays in a shop.
I've also heard people talk before of top notes, key notes and end notes of a fragrance but only been able to distinguish if the perfume was still there or not not these singular specific smells. With Ocean Lounge you can really smell the difference in these different notes though- it starts off almost overwhelmingly fruity, then fades to the same fruity-ness with a softer edge of flowers, and fades to a soft flowery fragrance, a bit like jasmine.
Ocean Lounge is also different to many top quality perfumes in that it is available quite cheaply if you look in the right places. I have seen it on offer in quite a few shops recently at about £25 for a 50ml bottle- however if you look on Amazon at the min you can get a 100ml bottle for £20. Absolute bargain, even a huge saving on the prices in duty free today. I know what I'll be spending my hard earning dooyoo vouchers next on, and so will you after you take a sniff of this wonderful fragrance.
