I absolutely adore this perfume.
So, now that my position is clear I can tell you why...
With the first scent this perfume is a tad sweet, but not sickly so, and it has a tropical sort of freshness to it that to me is like flowers and the seaside all at once. With the first spray that tropical, seaside-y scent is quiet a rush, and then after a few seconds the tropical, fruity / floral scents start to come through and quickly settles into a sort of frangipani bliss of exotic flowers. Aaaah!
This is the way floral scents should be - light, exotic, expensive smelling, and subtle. It hovers around you and you will get the faintest whiff of it, without ever being bowled over by a big, bombastic overpowering scent. For me that is the hallmark of a well blended and harmonic perfume.
In terms of staying power this perfume does well. It is still subtly noticeable on skin and clothes hours after being applied. And one spray from the diffuser is definitely enough. That being said, it is on the lighter side of the tropical and fruity range of fragrances, so if you like something that will make every person you pass in the street turn their heads, this is not the fragrance for you. It's more the sort of fragrance for those who want the people they allow close to them to want to get even closer! ;)
Comes also in a beautiful glass bottle, with a lovely rounded form that feels great in the hand, and isn't spindly or unstable on your bedside table like some of the weirdly tall long bottles on the market these days.
It's also a fairly classic, classy scent and while I would say it might be suited to a slightly younger woman, it isn't girlish at all and could be worn by middle aged women as well.
A few years ago i was never fan of eau de Parfum because i just found it too heavy to wear but things can change over the years and i have been appreciating parfum more but it really depends what kind it is. I don't like too sweet and it need to be a little bit spicy.
The perfume bottle in which the perfume comes in has a more rounded shape. The bottle itself is transparent which means you can see the perfume inside so you know how much is left every time. The funny thing about the liquid is that this has a some kind of rainbow effect. At the bottom you have a purple color, at the centre the color pink and in the top a green color. The colors may look like something else, depending on how the light hits it. The bottle looks very good in your bathroom.
The ingredients of the perfume are: den's mist, Blue Hyacinth, Orange Templar Flower and Jabuticaba fruit, Orchid, Jasmine, Japonica and Honeysuckle and Natal Plum Blossoms, Ambrette Seed, Zebrano Wood and Golden Melaleaca Bark. Beyond Paradise perfume by Estee Lauder has a slightly floral and fresh scent. It's not very sweet, which I see as a major plus. It is not a very strong smell, but it last for a long time. I would say it stays with me during the whole day.
I had always been a bit against the use of Parfum, but it was mainly because of women who wore to much perfume that it was too overwhelming. Now I have a different opinion and it's more the way you use it. Never spray too much of parfum on you and often one spray is enough. This fragrance is simply delicious and not too strong so the scent is not too much present. Since I have the perfume, I use it almost daily and I regularly get compliments. The perfume comes at a price of 22 pounds for a bottle of 30ml.
I was given a gift set of a 30ml bottle of this fragrance plus body lotion last Christmas. I hadn't tried it before, so was a little dubious, but was immediately taken with the beautiful packaging and bottle.
My bottle is different to the one in the picture above - it is made of coloured glass which has an almost rainbow effect, but with a slant towards the purple end of the colour spectrum. It is a chunky little bottle which just fits cutely in the palm of my hand and is very smooth and cool to the touch.
The fragrance itself at first appears strong, but soon settles once warmed up on the skin. I would describe this as a grown up floral smell, with an oriental twist. It is not what I would call an overly flowery smell, it is certainly not overpoweringly sweet like some are but just enough to make it feel feminine.
The notes of the fragrance are as follows:
Top notes: Eden's mist, Blue Hyacinth, Orange Templar Flower and Jabuticaba fruit (I am not pretending to know what that is by the way)
Middle notes: Orchid, Jasmine, Japonica and Honeysuckle
Base notes: Natal Plum Blossoms, Ambrette Seed, Zebrano Wood and Golden Melaleaca Bark
If you like a fragrance that is quite strong, with a floral base with a bit of twist, then I think you will like this. Get a sample first though, as it does appear quite strong at first and you need a while for it to settle and you to get used to it!
This perfume costs £32 from Boots for 30ml, though as ever do a search on line and you will get it cheaper.
I think this is what you call a marmite fragrance - you will either love it or hate it! I personally think it is great and always makes me feel special and feminine when I wear it - can't say it always sends me to paradise, but close your eyes and it helps!!
If you are looking for a fragrance that's pretty yet sophisticated, then you may like to try Estee Lauder's, ' Beyond Paradise.'
The bottle of the perfume I am reviewing is nicer than the one displayed, which I think may be the men's version.
I first tried, and bought this fragrance a few years ago, around the time when I first heard of it. I was pleased with my purchase as I find it offers just about everything that I look for in a fragrance. It's one of those smells that you keep sniffing at during the hours of wearing it to see if you can notice changes, or to see if it's still present, and it will be.
When first applied it is strong but, in my opinion, not overbearing. You can immediately tell that it will be long lasting. After an hour or so it becomes subtler in aroma but still highly noticeable and interesting.
As to the smell, I would say that it is floral but exotic-definitely not smelling of the the typical English floral offerings. It has a tropical, exotic and unusual aroma. It is said to be, 'prismatic floral'. I take this to mean prism like so offering different layers. I would agree with this.
So what is, 'Beyond Paradise' actually made from?
Orange Flower Templar
Natal Plum Blossoms
Golden Melaleuca Bark
Although I consider Beyond Pardise wearable for all ages, I would say that it will probably be popular mostly by adult women in their twenties and older.
The attractive bottle is elegant, as is usual in Estee Lauders products. A full bottle will show you layers of rainbow hues as it stands upon your dressing table or perfume shelf. My bottle is half full (see I am half full and not alf empty- an optinist?) but still fascinates me as when I turn it around I can see the different shades appear. The bottle is a pear shapewhich finishes with a round hard plastic, lockable stopper. It would make an ideal gift. The bottle I have and that is advertised is not the same as on the dooyoo picture so I would urge you to visit: www.esteelauder.co.uk so you can appreciate the clever design enforcing the idea that this scent is, 'prismatic.'
This fragrance is available in eau de toilette spray in sizes 30ml, 50ml and 100ml.
It is also available in a body lotion.
Estee Lauder, Beyond Paradise is available from many high street retailers and online stores. It is available from Estee Lauder and Debenhams with prices ranging from £32.00 to ££66.00 according to size.
Estee Lauder's "Beyond Paradise" is a lovely fragrance.
Perfect when buying fragrance as a gift, as this truely is an ageless perfume, i.e. suits women of all ages (ever smelled a perfume and thought that it would better suit your nan?).
It is a light floral fragrance that is hard to over-dose on when applying it in the morning, and lasts all day. Nothing better than getting a whiff of floral tones from your wrist to brighten up your afternoon.
I have one recommendation through experience - only have one bottle of this open at a time, and only buy someone a large one if you know they'll use it frequently. This is because I had two bottles on the go for well over 18 months. As with all perfumes (yes, really), the scent had changed after some of the lightest floral notes had been lost. This can often happen to all perfume under hot department store lights, so be aware when trying testers.
However, I think it'll be hard not to be hooked once tried!
I received this perfume as part of a gift pack, and it's a good thing too because I love it, but probably would never have picked it for myself. The first time I opened the bottle and sprayed it on me I realised immediately that a good friend of mine wears this perfume. I'd never thought about it before but the perfume is so distinctive that I instantly recognised it. I guess some people would think this is a negative point, but to me it proves that this fragrance is something a little bit different and should definitely be in the running if you're on the hunt for a 'signature fragrance'!
On opening the bottle, the scent rushes out to meet you - all tropicals and a sweet citrus. Spray it onto your skin and it's the citrus and orange blossom that first come to the fore, followed by something more like jasmine with undertones of a tropical spiciness - not at all heavy or musky but just light and fresh. I find that the citrus fades quite quickly to reveal the slightly more feminine middle notes (described as "Laelia Orchid, Crepe Jasmin, Mahonia Japonica, and Pink Honeysuckle").
This perfume is perfect for summer evenings and daywear. I can imagine this cheering you up rather considerably on a dull winters day - it just smells like sunshine! There would be a danger, with a light, young fragrance like Beyond Paradise, that it would be a little sickly sweet but Estee Lauder have kept the sweetness to a minimum so that the pure tropical and floral scents can shine through without becoming heavy.
The base note is described simply as "Natal Plum" and while I'm not sure how this differs from regular, garden variety plum, I can definitely smell the scent becoming slightly richer as it settles on the skin. It still manages not to be too sweet, but the fruitiness seems to balance the florals quite perfectly.
The bottle reflects the fragrance extremely well, being a simply round bottomed bottle in a deep turquoise melting to indigo and violet. It isn't anywhere near as distinctive as the Jean Paul Gaultier or Gucci bottles but is definitely attractive and elegant.
It terms of the longevity of the scent, I would say it's about average. Obviously not as hard working as the heavier, sexier scents like sandalwood, but it does the job and last through an evening without a top up. I would probably be struggling to still smell it at the end of a whole day at the office though. Personally for me this isn't a big deal, I am not a fan or perfumes that stink out the whole room, so something a bit more subtle is fine for me. Plus it means that if I spray some of this on while wearing a jacket or something I don't have to get it dry-cleaned before wearing a different scent!
I personally wouldn't wear this everyday as I like a bit of variety and I prefer keeping this as a novelty from my usual more spicy scents, but as I said, I do know someone who wears this all the time - so much so that I immediately thought of her when I first smelled it in the bottle! A lovely summery, shimmery, tropical scent that is youthful but not sickly sweet - perfect for a sophisticated but fun-loving lass in her 20s or 30s.
I really love this perfume. One of the things that drew me into buying it was the bottle, i juts absolutly love the colour, it looks the sea in the bahamars. Its very pleasing to the eye and definatly made me fall in love with it. Another thing that made me choose this perfume over many others was the price, although it was not one of the cheap perfumes that look like tacky things you would give a 5 year old to wear. It wasnt too expensive either. it was the right price range becuase at the time i didnt have too much money and i wanted some cute perfume to take on holiday with me. It is a very summery smell and is great for spritzing on before going out sunbathing on the beach with but then also is amazing for wearing when you are out clubbing. I have been complimented many times when wearing this perfume which has definatly added to my cofindence.
You will either love this perfume or absolutely hate it, it all depends on your own taste. The scent is optimistic and summery and therefore perfect for everyday use as well as a night out on the town. It is much more sophisticated than most floral fragrances and on a cold, grey day it can pick your mood right up. It is long lasting which is good considering most tropical perfumes dont last very long.
Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise unfolds on your skin with a fascinating blend of tropical wetness, zesty freshness and a burst of floralcy.
