My mother is absolutely obsessed with this perfume - but I'm not too keen on it myself. After I got for last Christmas from my mother (in an attempt to spread the 'Estee Lauder Love'!) I wanted to write a review on it.
~Packaging and Appearance~
Estee Lauder Knowing comes in a glass bottle with a sort of twisty design. It has a black twisty lid and the writing, 'Knowing' is written below the lid on a gold bar. The perfume is golden-yellow in colour, as is an Eau De Parfum, so it'll last a good few hours. The perfum bottle comes in a very simple, chic but yet sophisticated white box, with Knowing on the front in black.
OMG! This perfume is the strongest perfume I've even worn! The smell is quite hard to describe (anyway, I'm too busy choking on its incredibly strong stench to care!) - it is very musky and sort of smells dense (if you can smell density!) I usually like Estee Lauder scents - but this was so strong that it gave me a headache! I would recommend wearing it for special occasions, as it smells very high class, posh and special.
The price depends on how big the bottle of perfume is, but ranges from about £20 to £60. It would be perfect as a special birthday or Christmas present, if you like the perfume, that is!
I have to buy this perfume every mother's day, Christmas and other times of year which requires buying a gift for my mum!
Knowing is my mum's favourite perfume and I really do wish she'd get into something cheaper!
This perfume has recently gone down in price, the last time I bought it, it cost me about £45. Looking on the boots website it's now saying the perfume is £37... This is a little better although still expensive in my opinion! That price is for the 30ml sized bottle. You don't get a lot in the 30 ml so the perfume never lasts us very long!
If you want a larger size to last longer, you'll be paying £59.50 for a 75ml size. Although if you have never used this perfume I'd recommend buying the 30 first, or trying a sample from somewhere!
If you are wanting a sample, the Este lauder counter in boots are usually very helpful and you can probably get one from there, if not certainly try the perfume out on your clothing, a tester slide and your skin to see how it smells!
I've always liked the bottle to this Knowing perfume; it reminds me of 'Opulence' as it's such a lovely shape, the light hits the bottle in a lovely way. I never like the throw the bottle away.
In fact I liked the bottle so much; I chose it to draw in my art coursework!
The lid does actually stay on this perfume! So if (unlike my mum) you are tidy enough to keep the lid with the perfume, you'll be pleased to see the lid is quite sturdy and reliable!
What does it smell like? ;....
This is the hard part as perfume comes as a personal preference to everybody! My mum really loves this perfume and doesn't buy any other... whereas I don't like it at all.
The perfume smells VERY strong and I don't know how else to describe it than to say it reminds of me when you sniff the inside strong scent of a flower.
I think Este Lauder definitely went OTT (over the top) with this perfume, on the odd occasions where I try it, I feel like I taste it in my mouth, feel it up my nose and it actually gave me a headache once! And this is just with one spray!
An advantage to the smell being so strong however is that it does last all day, which is great if you like the smell. Although you'd expect nothing less from such an expensive perfume!
I personally don't like the smell as it is so strong, however my mum has had a lot of compliments when wearing Este Laude's Knowing, so I can't just judge this perfume from my own opinion!
Everybody prefers different perfumes, it's what gives us our own (not so natural) scent! I will continue to buy this perfume for my mum, although I've stopped trying it myself.
I've given it a 3 out of 5 as a sort of half way rating to be fair!
Thank you for reading, I also post on Ciao
She drifts - glides - across the floor, her smile way ahead of her, but her perfume wows me first, drifting eagerly in shredded filaments and decimated fingers of passion through my plasma and into the cells of my brain, which simply melt when faced with nectar and beauty and gossamer loveliness. She's wearing Estee Lauder Spellbound, and in terms of wine - which I know well- she's become a bouquet of wild passionate sunflower and thyme, mingled with the sweet mellowness of fresh-mown grass and sunlight rippling on water. She comes to me, plays with the moonbeams that become intrinsically a part of her; her lithe body, as clear and shapely as the bottle in which the perfume is packaged, attracts me to her, my feet slipping eagerly on the parquet and my arms reaching for her. The night is short; her radiance will fill the darkness with splendour and magic and starlight; Spellbound is suitable for both day and night wear, and its long-lasting fragrance will only wear off when the last vestiges of the last kiss become a distant – yet endearing –memory. She's there, her perfume, the woman I adore. I press her to me and kiss her, and tell her she's beautiful - because she IS beautiful. The perfume enhances her, entrances her, dances with her. We become one, but later - when I am alone and smiling and thinking of her - I still smell her perfume. It's good. Estee Lauder Spellbound. Yeah. Sigh……..
