This has not had a lot of hype surrounding it to my knowledge in terms of launches and high profile reviews but this is not one to be left on the shelf and forgotten, its is, just in my opinion stunning.
Okay, brace yourself for the list of scents they have blended together, but please don't be put off or think that they won't work it is subtle and enchanting.
JASMINE SAMBAC [A FAV]
TUBEROSE FLEUR FT NAT
Apart from possibly five notes I was introduced to many new scents here.
For me I found that the Madagascar vanilla stood out along with the Tuberose.
Overall this is a very sensual scent, brilliant for the evening or nights out or maybe for business events. I certainly wouldn't say this is a fragrance you can slouch about in but when you get dressed up, this perfume adds that finishing touch, if you don't spray to much as it will become to potent and overwhelming. This is one of those fragrance's that remains after you've left a room and people wonder what scent you were wearing.
I adore this perfume and it's fast becoming a must have on my perfume shelf.
They currently do the shower cream to this and hopefully soon the body cream.
I purchased mine for £48 but prices can vary and it's always best to check out the competition online for the best deals x
PACKAGING This is always important in a perfume as often that is what initially grabs you attention when browsing. It won''t make or break a sale if you love the scent but it certainly is a factor. This comes in a dusky pink box with the image of a black and gold bow near the top as though it is a gift wrapped with a ribbon bow. Other than that the box is plain apart from the name of the perfume and the brand. The bottle is also fairly plain glass with the spray and stopper again looking like a bow at the top which is quite clever but the bottle is not fancy or unusual in any way in my opinion. WHY MODERN MUSE? This perfume was released in 2013 and was the first one to be released by Estee Lauder since 2003 and that was ''Beyond Paradise''. This scent was created by the perfumier Harry Fremont for Estee Lauder and the aim was to create a perfume that ? symbolizes what it means to be an independent and self-confident woman today, sure of herself and her style. It is a confidence that inspires.? He has created a perfume with ?a two accord composition of sparkling jasmine (which symbolizes femininity) and sleek woods (representing strength).? PRICE AND SIZES This perfume is available as 30 ml, 50ml and 100 ml in the Eau de Parfum. The prices as always may very so shop around is my advice. It seems to be available quite widely in places like Boots and on line shops as well as Ebay of course. MY OPINION I am not sure this is one I would buy as it is rather similar to Beautiful. It is very feminine floral and creamy sweet and rather too sweet for me personally. The top note is mandarin The middle notes are tuberose, lily, honeysuckle, Chinese jasmine, flower petals and jasmine Sambac The base or heart motes are patchouli, vanilla. Amber, musk and woody notes Now to me the first hit is not really mandarin it if jasmine and honeysuckle and then it dries down and the musky notes with heavy on the vanilla begin to come through. I cannot detect any patchouli at all and the amber is very subtle. The musk sort of reminds me of Body Shop white musk but mixed with heady floral notes. I find this far too floral the jasmine and lily really stay around and are sweet, strong and rather overpowering. The sillage is good if you want to share you perfume with others around you. I have seen a number of people complain that this did not last on them. I found it did last on me and by the end of the evening I was actually getting a bit sick of the smell. This is not a perfume to wear of your partner or friends that you are with do not like the scent as it is quite obvious to me. When I wore this the other day I found that the next day my clothes still smelled of the perfume. I popped some on to write this review as I always do as it helps me with my writing and reminds me of the scent as I write.
===The Product=== Estee Lauder Modern Muse. Eau De Parfum. ''Be an inspiration''. Tall sleek glass bottle with a black bow effect to the top section. Non removable cap and a spray bottle. Flammable and made in Switzerland. ===Cost=== 30, 50 or 100mls plus 1.5ml sample sprays. On Estee Lauder website 30 ml is 44 pounds. ===My Opinion=== This fragrance was launched in 2013 and the Fragrantica website states - Modern Muse symbolizes what it means to be an independent and self-confident woman today, sure of herself and her style. It is a confidence that inspires. Containing a composition of sparkling jasmine (which symbolizes femininity) and sleek woods (representing strength). The first accord, accord of jasmine, blends exotic notes of mandarin, tuberose, fresh lily, honeysuckle, dewy petals, Sambac jasmine and Chinese Sambac jasmine absolute. The sleek woods accord combines two types of patchouli, Madagascar vanilla, amber wood and soft musk.'' Apparently the model called Arizona Muse was used to promote the fragrance ? though it was lost on me as I never saw the publicity or had heard of her before ? but a good play on the name. This perfume won the Grazia Beauty Awards 2013 - Scent of The Year so some people must have liked it but with perfume it is whether you yourself like it and if it suits your skin. The bottle is sleek and stylish in an understated way and one that would look good sitting out on your dressing table, thoguh I heave heard comments that it is unsuitbale for carrying around with you because it has no cap and the spray top is exposed. According the list of ingredients this is a very mixed sort of perfume, combining both woody notes with florals. You only need about two sprays of this perfume to last you about 6-8 hours. My first comment about this perfume is that is is grown up and sophisticated. It is sharp and cool and elegant and not one for the younger woman I would think. Wearing this makes me think of professional women in business suits and is is what I would describe as clean, fresh and sophisticated. Although it does contain florals they are not really prominent and it is not a very ''girly'' or feminine perfume. It is very pleasant and long lasting and one I enjoy wearing but it does tend to make me think of more older women and possibly business women so not what you would call a sexy scent. Very pleasant to wear and one I think many people will like but not one that I would want to keep rebuying at the price. ''An alluring contrast of sparkling florals and sleek, sensual woods.'' ===Star Rating=== 5 stars. Lovely smell but a bit expensive. ===Would I Recommend?=== Yes. ===Website=== www.esteelauder.co.uk
This product is in a very simply yet elegant bottle, and looks great without being overly done.
The colour of the perfume is light pink, almost a dusty pink.
I love how the lid is gold and black, and the pump is very different and easy to use.
I first discovered this perfume when I went to get my monthly beauty supplies (I love makeup and spend a fortune on it). The girls at the Estée Lauder counter gave me three handbag samples, since I enquirer about this product after seeing it on an advert on tv.
I always like to try a perfume properly before considering buying it. By this I mean I spray it on each wrist, and my neck, and see how it smells over time. It's no use buying a great smelling perfume that lasts half an hour. Many just fade away, or get worse over time and you are only left with the "louder scents" that might not be that nice at all.
I loved the musky smell when I first sprayed. I really did hope it would last, and lucky me, it did. I would spray it in the mornings, and the gorgeous scent would still be there as I stepped in to the shower at night, before bed.
This is an expensive perfume, with 100ml being about £80, but really is worth it. It is such a classy brand, and the smell is divine. I will certainly be buying another, and have already recommended it to friends and family.
I hope this is a perfume that Estée Lauder continue for a long long time, as it could easily become my every day perfume. The smell would never get boring, and I get compliments all the time by people wondering what it is so they can buy some ! Good work here Estée, 5 stars from this girly!!
Love the holiday times, friends and family that know me, know I like my fragrances so I do end up getting a lot of smellies which is great! Estee Lauder I must admit isn't my favourite I find there scent just too floral. However this one has certainly changed my mind on the brand.
Estee Lauder - Modern Muse Eau De Parfum:
'The carefully constructed blending of two distinctively different yet equally dynamic accords provides an intriguing, innovative dual impression. This unique dual-accord structure makes Modern Muse a true innovation in fragrance design. As complex and fascinating as the woman who inspires it'
This is Estee Lauder's newest fragrance and I must admit I am surprised on just how much I like it, whether my taste is changing in perfumes I don't know. For me I personally think it is deep and kind of sexy sophisticated fling to it.
From the Estee Lauder website it states that this Eau De Parfum has a feeling of confidence, independents and Inspiring. Which I have to agree with, I am always amazed how items can affect your moods well this one certainly feels like it gives me fighting female boost.
The notes -
* Exotic Mandarin
* Honeysuckle Nectar
* Dewy Petals
* Jasmine Sambac
* China Absolute
* Tuberose Fleur Fir Nat
* Fresh Lily
* Patchouli Coeur
* Patchouli Crist
* Amber Wood
* Suede Musk
* Madagascar Vanilla SFE
Now there is rather a lot going on here but I feel they all combine well, well I like it anyway! At first I have a lovely scent, deep scent a bit citrus like with a oriental flare to it. It then seems to take on a deeper twist which is where the amber and the musk comes into play.
It still keeps that sweet floral hint but seems to smooth out into a confident fresh aroma. At times I can detect the lily but then it seems to back drop slightly with subtle back drops of floral vanilla. Like I said there is a lot going on but it does all marry nicely together.
The bottle design I think is somewhat classy, and a bit more fun compared to the other Estee Lauder fragrances. It is kind of like a bow style top, you don't have to remove the top at all as the spray is connected to it. Bottle is glass and the text is simply yet elegant, certainly looks good on my dresser!
It is a clear liquid, a good amount comes out with each spray, I haven't have any experience with it staining my clothes and it hasn't irritated my skin in anyway. Like with all Estee Lauder fragrances the longevity is always good. A few sprays of this will pretty much last me the whole day, even when I haven't sprayed it I can still smell it on my scarf.
Price and Availability:
I have the 30ml bottle which looking online via Boots will cost £43.50, a little pricey I know but now I have it I certainly think it is worth the money. You can also get the 50ml - £59.50 and the 100ml - £84.99 I'm sure there will be other fragrance outlets where you may be able to get one a little cheaper.
Estee Lauder has certainly won me over on this one, and I think most mid-twenties and above will also like it. It isn't overly floral and has a tamed sweetness to it, get staying power one I would certainly re-purchase.
Five out of five stars from me.
Thank you for reading.
I don't have a lot of perfumes, and it is something I don't tend to wear that often, so when I received a little vial sample of Modern Muse, I was interested - but not necessarily excited.
However, once I had a little spray all that changed!
The first thing I noticed was the strength of the scent. Not overpowering, but robust while at the same time, feminine. Right from the very first spray I felt that I was surrounded in a gorgeous warm cloud of opulent fragrance.
The first scent I experienced was a rich jasmine, which was heady rather than flowery, followed by citrus flavours - again not light and fresh, but ripe, fruity and sharp. I could immediately smell this on my skin and in the air around me.
As the smell developed, the next aroma was the solidness of woody fragrances, with patchouli, amber and vanilla.
Since perfumes are not a particular passion of mine please forgive me if my description sounds a bit silly, but it was a bit like the smells you experience in a garden at night, when all the little gentle flowers have all closed up, and the strong, intoxicating ones are at their height. Meanwhile there is a warm earthiness combined with sweet fruit that is just on the verge of being over ripe.
It is both wintery, as it is warming and surrounding - but summery too, however in a dark, night-time way.
I'm much more confident describing the longevity of the perfume - which was outstanding! Again, not being the perfume-y type, I expected to enjoy the fragrance for about half an hour, but I could still smell the scent on my skin right up until I bathed that night, and even my clothes carried the scent in my linen basket until I put the wash on! The smell developed too with time, as the sharpness of the floral and fruit scents lost their edge, and the woody warmth was more noticeable.
Whether it is because of my choice or the infrequency of my perfume use, but in recent years I have never had anyone remark on the perfume I was wearing until I tried this. Even hours after spraying this people commented on how nice my perfume was - all this was new to me!
So when my mum asked what I wanted for Christmas I immediately suggested a bottle of Modern Muse.
We bought a bottle from The Perfume Shop and I was surprised at how expensive it was. Those rare bottles of perfume that I have bought are around the £25-£30 mark but this one was £43.00 for 30ml. I suppose it was more expensive as it has just been launched, and I did feel a bit selfish getting my mum to fork out so much.
However, I got a good spray of the sample in the shop, plus a little sample card that I carry in my pocket (it's still going strong weeks later).
As usual, there was a lot of hugging and thanking, both in the shop and on Christmas morning, so I've got quite a nice association with the smell of Modern Muse and my dear wee mum!
I also love the design of the bottle - it reminds me of Art Deco and vintage Hollywood silent cinema-styles, rich and decadent and glamorously retro! I could easily imagine Louise Brooks having a bottle on her dressing room table!
I'll give this perfume 5 stars and wholly recommend it. It is a huge treat for me but with the striking smell and the fabulous way this perfume lasts it is well worth the price for the quality and the all-round special way it makes me feel.
Thanks for reading (and thank you Mum!)
I have been a big fan of Estee Lauder fragrances for many years with their Beautiful Eau De Parfum being one of my all time favourites. Whilst some consumers consider the brand to be a little old fashioned their perfumers have created some delightful and very modern fragrances such as Intuition and Pleasures.
I would previously purchase designer fragrances based solely on their initial scent, which would be sprayed onto a sample card or within seconds of trying them out at the perfume counter in a department store. However, these days I am far more careful as I've wasted so much money over the years and will now apply the fragrance onto my pulse points and wait for the combination of notes to fully develop before I make a decision to purchase.
After receiving a small vial of the brand's latest offering namely Modern Muse, I was totally smitten and decided to treat myself to a full size bottle with this review discussing my thoughts. Modern Muse was created by perfumer Harry Fremont and was released earlier this year with the appearance of the glass bottle totally reflecting the memorable name.
I've always considered the appearance of the brand's fragrances to be a little uninspiring, which is disappointing, as they do not reflect the gorgeous contents. However, Estee Lauder have come up trumps with the design of Modern Muse, which can be described as being very contemporary although I feel that there are a number of similarities with Calvin Klein's Eternity, which is another favourite of mine.
Modern Muse is eye-catching with its smooth and sleek glass bottle together with its black upper section with shiny contrasting gold, which incorporates the dispensing section. The eau de parfum is described as an alluring contrast of sparkling florals and sleek sensual wood, which was simply too tempting for me.
The opening accords offer delightful mandarin, which I find extremely refreshing and uplifting and whilst the middle notes of a perfume generally make an appearance after around ten minutes, they swirled into recognition only a couple of minutes later, which was the point I was able to detect the delicate and very favourite aroma of lilies. Even at this stage, I knew that the eau de parfum would be one that was going to appeal to me.
The lilies were soon accompanied by further florals, namely honeysuckle, tuberose and jasmine; all of which perfectly complimented one another. The level of strength was extremely impressive, which is the case with all of Estee Lauder Eau De Parfums that I have tried. Whilst many fragrances offer an overload of aromas, each and every one of the middle notes was recognisable and delivered a wonderfully feminine element.
The base notes made their appearance approximately an hour later with their inclusion of patchouli and musk; another two favourites of mine due to their romantic and comforting aroma. In addition, they are combined with the rich and woody notes of amber, which delivers real depth and warmth to this stunning eau de parfum. An aroma that I cannot generally bear is vanilla, as I find it extremely cloying, but its delicate inclusion in the base notes perfectly compliments the amber to add a wonderful sensual creaminess.
The longevity is simply superb although I would have expected nothing less from an eau de parfum from Estee Lauder with its aroma continuing to be evident throughout my nine hour working day. Estee Lauder has created an outstanding and high quality eau de parfum with Modern Muse, as it is an up to date fragrance, which would appeal to any age group due to its likeability from the first notes to the last.
Unfortunately, Modern Muse is one of the brand's higher priced eau de parfums with the 30 ml bottle retailing at £44, the 50 ml bottle at £60 and the 100 ml bottle at £86. No doubt, these prices are due to it being newly launched and I am hoping that they will gradually reduce to a more affordable figure.
Due to the reasons discussed above, I can award nothing less than five stars together with a high recommendation.
The opening notes jasmine, blends exotic notes of mandarin, tuberose, fresh lily, honeysuckle, dewy petals, Sambac jasmine and Chinese Sambac jasmine absolute. The sleek woods accord combines two types of patchouli, Madagascar vanilla, amber wood and soft musk.
