“ Brand: Ferrari / Type: Fragrance / Concentration: Eau de Toilette / Gender: for men „
My husband is a huge Formula 1 racing fan and on a trip to the US a year or so ago, I picked up a bottle of Ferrari's Passion fragrance for him. My husband has another Ferrari men's fragrance, 'Black', which he also really likes (and which I think smells lovely) and so I thought I'd give this one a try as a present.
I paid about $30 for a 50ml bottle of this men's eau de toilette and I think for the amount of use my husband has got out of it, and for the quality of the scent and bottle that that's a reasonable price to pay for it, given it carries the Ferrari name. In terms of availability, I haven't seen this in any department or fragrance stores in the UK at all, but it is available to buy online if you look hard. I've found it available on eBay and from some individual sellers on Amazon, but it's not easy to come across unfortunately.
The Ferrari Passion bottle is very sleek in it's appearance, with a lid that reminds me of some kind of high-end car part! The body of the bottle has a glossy feel to it and is the striking red of the Ferrari brand. The logo and Ferrari name are also embossed onto the bottle and overall it feels very nice in the hand, suits the brand well and has a great masculine look to it that my husband (and I) really like.
This is a really fresh and clean fragrance, which starts off with a citrus feel with notes of sicilian lemon and florida grapefruit. Although neither of us could pick out the grapefruit individually, the general citrus scent was very nice and a good start to the fragrance, nice and crisp.
The middle section of the fragrance, which I could start to smell on my husband about an hour into him wearing the fragrance is made up of heart notes cypress, lavender, thyme, cardamom and juniper berries. I really enjoyed the middle of this fragrance as it's very woody and warming, with a slight spiciness to it which my husband loved and I couldn't stop sniffing! The fragrance has a lovely rich earthiness to it which is masculine without smelling of dirt or engine grease!
About 3 hours later, I could still very easily smell the fragrance on him, with the woodiness continuing with ceder and patchouli notes. There is also a strong hint of tobacco and smokiness towards the end of the scent, but in a very nice way, and a warm and cosy leather scent to finish off. The earthiness in the fragrance is still noticeable but softens towards the end.
The silage on this men's fragrance is pretty good. Some men's colognes and eau de toilettes can be overpowering but Ferrari Passion is not at all - it's easy to smell within a meter of my husband and when he passes it leaves a wonderful but subtle trail behind him that's really nice!
The fragrance lasts a good 6 hours on him being very noticeable, and it's still lingering on up to 10 hours later, though you have to get much closer at that point to smell it.
Overall, I think this is a lovely smell, and my husband loves it. He's had compliments from my friends on it, and the men who I've asked about it have all said they like it. My friend also ordered a bottle from the internet for her boyfriend after smelling the scent on my husband, but that was when it was a bit more readily available. If you can manage to get your hands on Ferrari Passion though, it's very much worth it and I've not heard anyone I know, male or female, say they don't like it! Recommended.
