I was given this French Connection UK "her" perfume as a Christmas present last year from my sister's in-laws. I was initially a bit dubious as I can be quite set in my ways about perfumes. However, I was very pleasantly surprised.
The perfume is in an attractive silver coloured container which clear glass where you can see how much liquid is left. It says 'her' n small letters towards the bottom. At the top the perfume comes out, and on the back is a large whitish button to press to get the perfume out.
I don't really know much about perfume notes or any of that sort of thing. I have found on a website that "The fragrance opens with top notes of aquatic iris and citrus. Followed by heart notes of Barringtonia, peony, violet and jasmine. The base has notes of sandalwood, cedar, amber and vanilla." - I am REALLY struggling to smell any of that except perhaps a slightly aquatic smell. I have to say I find it to be a nice smell, slightly dusky, a bit floral and hints of citrus, but without being overpowering. I think it would be suited both to evening and day wear. I have to say though that the scent doesn't linger as well as some do. I think this is a perfume to suit a wide range of ages and makes a lovely gift.
I have the 100ml bottle, and looking online you can get it for around £10 which is an absolute bargain for such a huge bottle of such nice smelling perfume.
These days I wear around half a dozen different fragrances.
"Her", an Eau de Toilette by French Connection, was a gift from my father-in-law last Christmas. I am unsure why - or even if - he chose this present, however it is a very thoughtful one. Perhaps a little brave of him however.
Her was released in 2004, the first fragrance by FCUK. It seems to be sold by FCUK in Europe and by French Connection in the USA.
The recommended retail price is £33.99 for 100ml EdT. However the 100ml EdT bottle can be purchased at fragrancedirect.co.uk for £9.99.
The RRP for 30ml EdT is £15 however again it can be purchased from as low as £6.99.
This scent comes in a futuristically-styled grey oblong casing with the solution itself stored in a clear central glass compartment. The base has a small flat plate with manufacturing information, and it is upon this that the bottle stands. Or rather is supposed to stand. We have hard surfaces everywhere throughout our home and I am paranoid that it will topple over. I live in an earthquake zone so am extra concerned about this.
The white plastic spray mechanism is at the top and back of the plastic casing, and is flush with this housing. The spray depressor works well enough, although at times I find it to feel like it sticks. I understand that some users have had problems with the spray's broadcast, however it has always worked perfectly for me.
I store this bottle lying down and in a bathroom draw. I would also usually keep it in its box, however this was part of a gift set and the box was thrown on the day of receipt. I have had no problems with leakage.
The advertising literature describes Her as a cheeky and provocative scent, a feminine floral fragrance. It certainly is floral.
The company web site says this fragrance's notes are muguet, water iris, bergamot, barrington flower, peony, jasmine, violet, cedarwood, sandalwood, golden amber, vanilla.
This is a scent that I do not like. It is a somewhat unisex scent that reminds me of men's soap. If I knew any men who preferred to wear women's fragrances, then I'd recommend this to them.
I wear this EdT as a light, casual scent during the daytime. The clear solution does not stain clothes. The scent is very noticeable and somewhat off-putting for the first 10 minutes. Up to this point in time it smells cheap and simply nasty. Thereafter the scent fades quickly to the point that I don't believe anyone would ever notice that I am wearing it unless they were naked next to me and/or actually sniffing my wrist or decolletage.
This fragrance's absence of longevity and average scent deem it to be a poor choice for me. I strongly recommend obtaining a sample or tester prior to purchase.
NB: I may choose to publish this review elsewhere.
I sometimes go for the gift sets as they can work out that you do not pay much more for both than just buying the perfume. I bought this perfume as a set which also came with body cream a while ago now from fragrandirect.co.uk for £14.95. They do have the perfume for the price of just £9.99 at the moment.
The perfume when bought alone comes in a plain box that is wrapped in cellophane, just stating FCUK on the front, with the words her in smaller letters. the box is easy to open and get into which i have sometimes fund hard.
This part is taken from the website : FCUK for Her eau de toilette spray is described as a floral and oriental fragrance opening with top notes of peony and iris which then flows into a heart of sandalwood and violet all of which is nicely rounded off with a smooth base of lily of the valley and rose.
The perfume does smell pretty flowery, and really sweet also, which is how I like my perfumes to smell. The perfume has quite a strong smell to start off with but then when it is soaked into the skin it is not so strong but strong enough to be able to smell it but not over powering.
The smell of this does only last a few hours, but I think that is still pretty good, as I do only use a few squirts of this perfume at a time, so I do not put too much on, and yet it still lasts and is still pretty strong smelling. Its not an overpowering smell though, its just a nice enough smell to be pleased with, and I have had a few people say how nice I smell.
My overall opinion
I did really like this, and enough to go out and buy some more, which I do not often do with perfumes, as I like to change what I wear each time I buy more. But the smell of this was just divine. Its a lovely sweet flowery smell. I would recommend this to any one to buy.
