Another perfume that is my favourite - I've always been a fan of the GHOST perfumes and my favourite was ghost deep night. I was in Debenhams again browsing the isles and found this in the sales - I'm a sucker for a good sale and buy what I can when I can. I was a bit unsure when I bought this item as they had no testers available and the box was sealed. I decided to just go for it and buy the item and I didn't regret it, I've nearly used the full bottle and will be buying another when I finish it - hopefully I can find it in the sale again but I really wouldn't mind paying full price for it. The perfume has lasted me months and I just love the smell another great perfume from GHOST - never a let down. You only have to use 2 squirts for the smell to last all day. I also use this as a going out perfume as I love it so much. Again if you want a great perfume look no further than GHOST!
I recently purchased 6 different perfumes from www.cheapsmells.com as I was fed up and decided to cheer myself up by spending some money (which I find always works). I bought Vivienne Westwood Boudoir, Jimmy Choo Jimmy Choo, Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy La Fleur, Vivienne Westwood Let It Rock, Lolita Lempicka Lolita Lempicka and Ghost Anticipation! I had got the original Ghost fragrance for Christmas from my sister (also previously reviewed) and I absolutely loved it so I decided to add this one to my collection in the hope that it would be just as good. ~ Price and availability ~ This fragrance is becoming increasingly difficult to find. I am not sure if it has been discontinued, but it is available on cheapsmells.com and also on Amazon.co.uk. You can buy it in 30ml, 50ml and 75ml bottles. I have the 75ml bottle, which currently sells for £28.60 on cheapsmells.com (RRP £44.50) and for £40.50 on Amazon. The 50ml bottle is available from Amazon for £23.10 (RRP £29.00). The 30ml bottle is available from both cheapsmells.com and Amazon for £18.90 (RRP £24.00). ~ Bottle ~ I really like the bottle. It is made from clear glass and the fragrance itself is a light pink colour. Although I am not usually keen on tall thin bottles, often finding them uninteresting and cheap looking, I like what this bottle brings. It is tall and thin and it is wider at the bottom than the top. The back of the bottle spreads outwards at the bottom, resembling the train of a dress so it looks like it could be a ghost sweeping through your perfume collection in its pink dress! I like the fact that the bottle is supposed to represent a figure. It reminds me of the bottle for Givenchy Organza Indecence, which is another tall thin bottle, which was designed to represent a woman in a flowing dress. The word 'GHOST' is in silver lettering at the bottom of the bottle at the front. The lid is made from clear plastic and it is cylindrical, tapering near the top. Something that I didn't like about this bottle was the fact that the bottle is not full right to the top and there is just short of an inch missing from the top of the bottle. The perfume was brand new, sealed and had not leaked, but this seems to be the way it is meant to be. ~ Scent ~ This is a very light floral fragrance. It was launched back in 2007. The top notes are mandarin orange, cranberry and violet. The heart notes are peony, orange blossom, orchid and freesia. The base notes are white woods, vanilla and white amber. There is something in it that smells just like a perfume I got in a Polly Pocket make-up set when I was a child. Although that sound like a negative thing to say about this perfume I actually mean that in a good way! It was a nice Polly Pocket perfume! I think it is one of the floral notes in it that reminds me of that perfume. I really like this fragrance. It is light, fresh with a juicy fruitiness to it and a soft, sweet floral element to it too. There are no sharp or harsh notes in it. I don't think it is similar to the original Ghost fragrance at all. It is bright and uplifting. It has such a pleasant scent, but it is not very strong. I have been impressed with the longevity of this fragrance, however. Although it is an eau de toilette and does not smell very strong it lasts around 6 hours on my skin before fading away. I think this fragrance would appeal to everyone. It is described as timeless and ageless and I agree. This smells as good now as the similar scented Polly Pocket perfume did in the 1990's! Lol! It has a light, feminine scent that I think would suit all women, regardless of their age. I'd definitely say this is more of a daytime scent than one for nights out or special occasions (with the exception maybe, of a Polly Pocket convention, where it'd make you very popular). ~ Conclusion ~ I would really recommend this fragrance, despite my review perhaps cheapening it ever so slightly. I really love the scent - sweet and floral taking me back to my childhood. It is very light and fresh and I don't think anyone could be offended by the scent. The bottle is very pretty and was the reason I chose this Ghost fragrance over any of the others available. It is reasonably priced and would make a great gift! I would definitely buy this again if my bottle ran out.
A few years back someone bought me a gift set that contained 3 or 4 Ghost perfumes - it was a kind of sample set - but because I own so many of my own perfumes already I didnt get around to using the set until earlier this year and as Ive nearly finished all the little sample bottles now I thought Id write about them before they end up in the bin - Im usually a hoarder of perfume bottles but I have to many now something has got to give! Anyway I thought Id start the Ghost themed reviews with the bottle I have just finished which was this 'Ghost Anticipation' which to be totally honest I had never even heard of before I received in in the set - and I dont think many people have so hopefully this review might educate some people on a fantastic perfume. Useful Information: Price: Around £25 - 50ml bottle. Stockists: Boots & Superdrug Other Info: Also available in 30 & 100ml bottles. The Bottle: The thing I like most about Ghost bottles is that they arent the best designed or the most colourful but yet they are simple and stunning and this one is no different. The bottle is slightly curved down one side and quite long - it is a very light lilac in colour all over. Although it is coloured the bottle is transparent so you can see exactly how much perfume you have left in the bottle - which is always a good thing in my opinion. The bottle is made from very thick, sturdy glass so it wont topple over easily on your table and it wont break or leak if you have it loose in a handbag. Its simple yet really feminine and stunning - a brilliant perfume bottle. The Scent: Top Notes: Cranberries, Blood Orange & Violet Middle Notes: Peony, Orange Flower, Freesia & 'Chocolate Lovers' Orchid Base Notes: Blond Woods & White Amber. Just the type of ingredients I have come to expect from a Ghost perfume as most of them are very floral more than anything else - its described as the 'ultimate floral fragrance' and for once I have to say I totally agree. The only top note I can really detect is the Violet as the middle notes of Freesia & Peony are definitely the most noticable straight away and all the way through really. The fruity notes of Blood Orange & Cranberry give this a really sweet (some might say sickly) kick but the two 'notes' dont really ever come into their own and make this perfume more fruity at all. The Blond Woods & Amber do start to come into the mix after a few minutes of wearing this and make this a much heavier scent - not heavy enough to wear at night I wouldnt say but it does offer a different dimension to the scent overall. This is a very floral yet sweet perfume that gets heavier and muskier over time - it has quite a few different levels to it. Other Comments: Staying Power: This one has absolutely amazing staying power in my opinion. I used this, this morning when I got out of bed (around 7am) and it is still really noticable on my clothes and skin now so the staying power is one of the best for any perfume Ive tried. Recommendations: I recommend this for older teens and over - I dont think younger girls would appreciate this, although it may be too sweet for some people. Try before you buy as I always say! I also recommend this for daywear really, it does get heavier throughout the day but not musky enough for using at night I dont think. But on the plus side it is suitable for wearing all year round so its a very versatile scent. Highly recommended - take a chance on a quite unkown (to me anyway) scent. Thanks For Reading. x0 Salz 0x
The box is an attractive lilac colur with silver writing on so it looks pretty. The list of ingredients is pretty long winded so i'm not typing it up, it appears to have all the regular perfume stuff in it. Upon opening the box I am presented with a lovely bottle in a swishy dress shape (maybe a ghost) and the perfume is a lovely pink colour. So would look nice on your dressing table. You can prolong the life of your perfume by keeping it in the box as exposure to light can alter the smell after a while. The scent is very subtle so you need to re-apply through out the day or put a lot on. To me the scent is flowery and summery. Apparently it smells of Cranberries, Manderin, Peony, Orange Flower, Freesia, Blonde woods (Pine?) and Amber. My nose is not that well trained I just know it smells lovely. I wear it as an everyday perfume. I think its pretty good value as it lasts forever. I only get through a 30ml bottle a year. The RRP is £23 but can be brought from Superdrug for £20. Also comes in 50ml and 75ml bottles and in gift sets.
I've always worn the normal Ghost but i've never really experimented with other ones until my fiancee brought it back from holidays for me. I was quite suprised as I expected it to be quite a strong smell like the other one, but in my opinion it's quite a weak smell. Once you first put it on it smells lovely but I don't think the smell lasts very long. It didn't last me very long as I had to wear a lot of it to be able smell it and for the smell to last longer. I think it's a very subtle perfume and it's fruity smell makes it a pleasant fragrance for everyday use. It's not something you'd wear if you were going out somewhere nice. The good thing about Ghost is that they're all different, some are perfect for wearing out e.g. for a meal, some are perfect for just wearing to work and some for wearing out partying. I would rate this 3/5.
I change my fragrance like the weather changes its mind because i get bored. I'll buy a fragrance because i like the smell of it its packaging and of course the price but after a week or so of wearing it i find myself doching myself in it becasue i can no longer smell the fragrance. My skin just seems to drink it. So once agin i find myself in the shops looking for a new fragrance cant find one i like so i grab one ive had before in a hurry, except i dont, i grab Anticipation by Ghost. Its only when i get home do i see my mistake, cant be bothered to take it back so use it anyway. Not too thrilled by the smell initially but once i spray in on my skin it smells completely different. I like it great. Two weeks in and i can still smell it, i dont have to drown myslef in it to notice the scent. Since then ive used up the bottle and bought another, yes the same eau de toilette!! Great purfume lasts all day you dont need much and you dont get bored of it. Its now my favourite and has saved me loads of money!
With beautiful fruit (mandarin and cranberries) and floral essences (orange flower and freesia); Ghost Anticipation is a perfect everyday perfume. My partner bought me this on a whim, and I loved it so much that now I find that it is one of my staple perfumes. I usually tend to wear overly fruity perfumes such as DKNY 'Be Delicious', and if you find these sort of things a little bit too sickly sweet, 'Anticipation' is an excellent alternative. It is light enough to wear to work without asphyxiating everyone in the office, but similarly, it has enough strength to wear out on an evening (especially if you don't like wearing hugely overpowering perfumes). With perfumes, I often tend to find that they wear off within a couple of hours, or some start to smell a bit strange. However, Anticipation seems to last very well, and a couple of squirts in the morning should see you right the way through the day! I'm now quite a fan of Ghost fragrances, but I think Anticipation is definitely a good 'all rounder' - especially if you are thinking of buying a perfume for someone, but aren't really sure on their tastes. Attractively packaged (in a purple/pink/white smudged box), this is a perfect fragrance for any time of year!
It's time for another perfume review! I was given a Debenhams gift card for christmas, but there was nothing I really wanted in Debenhams (and the things I did kind of want, I could get cheaper else where), so I gave the gift card to my mum. I had completely forgotten about this until my beloved mother told me about how she'd spent the card - it was partly spent on Ghost, Anticipation perfume. Like I've just finished saying, this perfume isn't actually mine (but I have to put up with it everyday, so it might as well be), so I can't tell you how often I wear it like I usually would. Short Description Ghost Anticipation is a luminous, addictive woody floral that is truly captivating. Inspired by the feeling of anticipation before the beginning of an enchanted night out, the scent contains fruity notes of cranberries and blood mandarin, floral notes of peony, orange flower and freesia, and creamy notes of blond woods and heady white amber. My mum is the opposite of me and is a complete box keeper, so I can tell you all about it (unlike when I review my own perfumes). The box is a tall cuboid shape, which is pink and purple in colour. On the back and sides of the box, the colours are in a gradient type pattern, but on the front there is a strange pink blob with white bits in it. I assume this is meant to be a ghost? On the bottom of the box I'm told the perfume will be good enough to use for 36 months. Not only does my mum keep the boxes, but she keeps the perfume inside the boxes and goes absolutely insane if they are left outside the box. Upon opening the box, I am hit with nothing. Usually when you open a box of perfume, you can slightly smell it - not with this one. Strange. The bottle is very cute though, it's such an elegant bottle (which makes me questions my mother's reasoning for keeping it in the box even more), it's tall and slender with a slight 'train' on the back of it. The train like feature has small indentations in it which fade up the back of the bottle, this really makes me think of an elegant wedding dress, which makes me think it should only be used on special occasions. The glass that the bottle is made of is clear with a slightly pink liquid inside (this liquid is the perfume - duhh). As soon as I took the lid off, I could smell the perfume. Woah, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I can't really distinguish any scent, I can just say that it smells like a very floral fruit. It even smells creamy, is that weird? I then sprayed it onto my wrist to see if the scent changed upon contact with skin. It did, it smelled stronger (duhh number 2) and more liquidy than creamy (by now I'm aware I'm probably not making much sense...). After 5-10 minutes, the perfume started to smell like an old lady, but strangely enough, I like it - just not enough to wear it myself. It's a very weird smell and quite hard to describe, but I quite like it and it makes my mummy more huggable (I'm officially a dork). From Debenhams, the 30ml bottle costs £23, 50ml costs £31 and 100ml costs £43. I was quite curious to see if this was any different from Boots, so I checked their prices out too. A very slight price difference; 30ml is £22.51, 50ml is £29.36 and 100ml is £41.11. Not only is it slightly cheaper in Boots, but you get advantage points back, so you get a better deal in Boots. This is probably one that you should get a tester of before buying it. Don't just sniff it in store and buy it on the spot, either get a tester bottle or spray it on your wrist and then walk around for an hour and go back and get it if you like it. Thank you for reading!
I received this perfume for Christmas this year and, although I have never been a particular fan of Ghost perfume, this one is fantastic. The fragrance is subtle yet sweet, heady and sensuous and it lingers for longer than most other Ghost perfumes, which tend to disappear after half an hour or so. The fragrance to me is slightly reminiscent of the Parma Violet sweets you used to get as a child. The packaging is an attractive purple colour and the bottle is pretty much standard although a bit assymetric. My rating of a great perfume is how many people comment on it. Since Christmas i've had a number of comments on how nice it is. I've even had a guy at work come up to me and ask what I was wearing so he could buy it for his wife. I have the 50ml Eau De Toilette with the matching body cream. I highly recommend this perfume and intend to purchase it again. I have also bought a bottle of it (£24.95) for my friends Christmas present.
This is one of my faveorite perfumes, its light and sophicticated and yet sexy aswell. Its worth the money although if you shop around you will find prices vary. between £10 and £30. Perfume shop[ is the most expensie, have a look around on the interent and you will find a cheap site. I find this perfume suits my age range particulally well, btween ages 18-30 i would say, its stylish and sexy but a bit grown up for under 18's i would have said, to childish although for the older women, no offence meant by that commet. if you like the scent then buy it, different scents suit different people, i remember a lady once telling me that if you can smell your own perfume on yourself you dont suit it, if you cant then it suits you. If i couldnt smell my own perfume i would just spray more untill i could, HAHAHA.
This is by far my favourite of the ghost perfumes. Great value for money and a little goes a long way. The smell is very striking and feminine and lingers for hours so a bottle will last for ages! It has a slightly musky flowery smell which is quite sensual and makes it more of a night perfume than a day perfume I'd say (although I wear it all the time). It's different to most perfumes out there and as always with ghost you're buying a good quality perfume that doesn't go off within a month or two of buying it. The bottle is very pretty and elegant and a perfect addition to any womans dressing table. Fella's - if you're looking for a perfume for the lady in your life this is it, I can guarantee she'll love it. Buy it with the body lotion to make it go further.
A fairly new fragrance but not the newest Ghost. I have had this since last Christmas when it was given to me as a mistake as I had asked for Ghost Cherish. I was very pleased with this fragrance and have used it a lot since and have bought a second bottle but am yet to use it, as have had some summery fragrances since. It is a very pretty flowery smell, very girly and does last a long time. I would not use too much as it can smell a little strong at first but it is a very lovely fragrance. For me it is best suited to day wear. Coming upto Christmas again now (!) I would assume it will be avaliable in gift sets with lotions, shower gels and the edp. It is a very reasonably priced perfume and along with Ghost Cherish my favourite of the Ghost range.
This fragrance could be best described as nice. It's a pretty smelling perfume, but not one with any notable elements, any real character. It's not sexy, it's not really girly, there's just no personality in it. It just smells nice. I can't see anyone actively disliking this, so I think it would be a safe choice for a present, but not one that would be really appreciated. I get the impression that Ghost's scents are supposed to be grown up and womanly, which I think would be an apt description of "Anticipation", but I think it's also rather prim and proper. There's no fun in it. It smells warm and floral and lasts for a good few hours but you wouldn't really notice as it is so faint and forgettable. I've forgotten I was wearing it and put on another perfume! On the positive side it's not strong enough for any artificial smells to come though. I only wear it because I'd feel bad if I didn't use it up as it was a gift and I have opened it (had to, obviously, to smell it). I wear it quite regularly, but as an daytime kind of scent, and not when I want to make any kind of impact or need the comfort of a good scent to give me a lift.
I first got ghost anticipation for christmas. I went on a day trip to France and tried on one of the testers. It has a mixture of citrus and flowery tones. if you use too much it can become a bit overpowering. It is feminine and light and it lasts for a good few hours. The sizes are 30ml , 50ml and 75ml. The prices range from £23 to £42 depending on the size you choose. My dad bought mine in the ferry shop. so it was slightly cheaper. It does smell slightly similar to the other Ghost perfumes, but there is still something a bit different about it. It doesn't sting or make your wrists sticky at all. However it might sting if it is sprayed on cuts! This is a good buy for a present. I hope they do it in a gift set this year, like they did with the other ghost perfumes.
Launched: 2007 Group: Floral My first Ghost fragrance was 'Sheer Summer' a limited edition in 2005 and since then I have been collecting samples from the rest of the Ghost range and looking out for the 'next big thing'. ~ The perfume house ~ Ghost was established in 1985 by a businesswoman, Tanya Sarne. The first fragrance Ghost by Ghost was introduced in 2000 followed by Deep Night (2001), Serenity (2003), Cherish (2005) and the latest Anticipation (2007). ~ The packaging ~ Yes, it is Ghost. Both the bottle and the scent evoke previous fragrances of this fairly young designer brand. The bottle is made of pale, slightly frosty glass that looks like a tall, lady-like figure dressed in an evening gown. The shape is elegant, linear and the trailing end of the light pink dress - the colour of the liquid inside - is flowing behind her as she's ready to go... apparently as the advertising is suggesting - to "the night ahead filled with adventure and fun". The lid follows the shape of the bottle and clicks tight on. The box is a light iridescent lilac pink reminiscent of all other perfume boxes of the brand. It does fit nicely in the rest of the collection. (Ghost, Cherish). I like the efficient, no-frills Ghost logo, the simple and clean font type that is immediately recognisable. The name 'Ghost' was apparently chosen when setting up the business Tanya said 'it won't stand the ghost of a chance'. Well, look how far they have come. ~ The Fragrance ~ Top notes: cranberries, mandarin, violet The powerful opening cranberry notes makes this fragrance tart, very fruity and incredibly sweet at first. It becomes fresh citrusy after half an hour with soft flowers starting to develop. Into an hour of wearing and the violet has gone stronger, the mandarin softer. Overall this gives the scent a fresh, soapy feel. Middle notes: peony, orange blossom, orchid, freesia The main detectable notes are the peony and freesia. The heart is refreshing and floral with some of the bitterness of the subtly green - woody freesia but it is still mainly soapy which gives the impression of freshly washed clothes and clean cotton. Peonies have a romantic, powdery and floral aroma. The scent of peony reminds me of a musky rose scent with some bitter citrusy trickle inside. I noticed this bitter freshness in some of the other Ghost fragrances too which I find quite a nice touch unlike other fragrances which are dominantly sweet in the heart. I can also smell some subtle vanilla aroma lingering close to the drydown and at first thought it the scent actually had vanilla aroma in it. The vanilla scent in fact comes from the orchid and give a nice softening touch to the dominant florals. Base notes: blond woods, white amber There's definitely something remotely Guerlain L'Instant Magic in the drydown... maybe it's the vanilla orchid mixing with the amber base but here it is a lot more downed watery cologne version. The amber base is soft so it never overpowers the composition and it's not even noticeable until about 4 - 5 hours. What ultimately becomes of the dry down is a powdery, subtle rose scent amplified by woods mingled with a creamy base. This base stays close to the skin and it makes you feel you're wearing a velvety body lotion that's creamy and fresh at the same time. Being an Eau de Toilette Anticipation's staying power is about 6 hours (depending on your skin, or outer temperature). It stays clean and fresh even after 4 hours and lasts more or less throughout the day provided you sprayed enough of it in the morning. ~ Conclusion ~ If I was a cynic I would say that Ghosts perfumes are middle-of-the-road scents that smell nice but are forgettable. Their perfumists are competent and the scents are nicely blended but they lack that 'something special' we all secretly want from a fragrance. Ghost themselves claim their range to be feminine and deliberately not trying to be fashionable but rather timeless and ageless. It is a valid philosophy but at the same time their scents are all watered down to something you probably wouldn't notice someone wearing it. It sort of blends into the thousands of other average scents out there that you can purchase from any high-street retailer. For me Anticipation just says 'Ghost'. They seem to be too much on the safe side; too shy to finally release a 'make it or break it' perfume into this world. Their scents lack character and personality. They are 'OK', 'wearable, or even 'nice' but I find them hard to be loved or loathed for that matter! To sum up on a more positive note, Ghost Anticipation is a pleasantly fresh, light floral Eau de Toilette, great for everyday outdoor wear or for the office. A well-blended and balanced quality fragrance that represents the house's statement: "timeless, ageless and never tries too hard ". Mission accomplished. ~ Additional rating ~ Composition: 4 / 5 Originality: 3 / 5 Staying power: 3 / 5 Overall value: 4 / 5 ~ Price / where to buy ~ Boots £23 / 30 ml Eau de Toilette £30 / 50 ml Eau de Toilette £42 / 75 ml Eau de Toilette £18.00 / 200 ml Body Lotion http://www.fragrancedirect.co.uk/ £ 26.95 / 50 ml Eau de Toilette Spray £ 21.99 / 30 ml Eau de Toilette Spray £ 28.50 / 50 ml Eau de Toilette Spray, 50 ml Body Lotion and 50 ml Bath Shower Gel Gift Set Thanks for reading.
